I'd still be interested in hearing how to strip the protections for debugging purposes. (I'd also try to get the Chrome docs updated to spread the word.) I ended up "fixing" the issue though just by deleting all my local Chrome data: cd $HOME/Library/Application\ Support/Google rm -rf Chrome So, this particular crash I probably won't be able to reproduce any longer.
