HI, don't worry I solved it in the end. The problem was the hub which unfortunately was unable to provide enough power to make the external disk work correctly. I opted for a docking station...and a 65W power supply from Apple and it seems to work fine. What is supplied, if I remember correctly 30W, is not enough for the Macbook Air m1.
