Big Sur mirror iPad screen (not side car)

Has any one had problems mirroring their iPads or iPhones on the Mac? I used to use quickTime -> new movie recording -> (change camera to iPad) || This would display the iPad screen on the Mac, but since I updated to Big Sur, it no longer shows up.
I have exactly the same problem. Still in search of a work around.
This is a huge problem for me, how can I escalate this? The second screenshot on this page is what I need that is no longer available in Big Sur.

Same here. I used to use this feature quite often to sketch things on my iPad and share them in video conferences. in dire need of an alternative...
Found this question by searching google, I had the same problem. I did some testing and turns out the problem is due to not trusting your iPad.

You have to trust it on both your iPad itself, and in Finder (finder-> iPad, click trust).

Works like a charm :)
The same problem is seen with an iPhone in version 14.2. I agree, trust the culprit, but for some reason my mac is not detecting the phone in finder as well even after I click trust.

I was able to view an attached iphone screen by using the "new movie recording" option in quicktime player. I then selected the iphone as the camera. I was then able to see the iphone screen.

iMac was on Big Sur and iPhone was on 14.x.

Hope this helps.
Thank you MtStefa for the update. I think there is some kind of race condition here, it works sometimes somehow not always. Very wonky. It sometimes randomly keeps asking both the phone and the mac to trust and keeps giving this error on the finder window:

Trust Request Error (-402,653,181)
