I've been trying to notarize an installer (.pkg file) on a new laptop. Previous versions have been notarized successfully on a previous Mac.
However, in spite of having the required certificates (same as the old Mac, generated for the new Mac) the submission gets stuck at "In Progress".
Doing it multiple times (even hours apart) doesn't help.
Is there a FAQ / suggested list of steps to help resolve this issue?
Here's what I see:
xcrun notarytool history --keychain-profile "(my profile name)"
results in (problem started with v4, the first version I've tried on this new Mac):

There’s been a lot of water under the bridge since this thread started in 2023, so I wanted to post a quick update…
If you’re notarising your product and it gets stuck in the In Progress state for a significant period of time, it’s likely that it’s been held for “additional analysis”. Here my standard spiel about that:
You can expect that most uploads will be notarised quickly. Occasionally, some uploads are held for additional analysis and may take longer to complete. As you notarise your apps, the system will learn how to recognise them, and you should see fewer delays.
For lots of additional info about notarisation, see Notarisation Resources. Specifically, it links to a Q&A with the notary service team that’s quite instructive.
I don’t want this thread to become a ‘catch all’ for every single instance of this additional analysis, so I’ve locked it. However, I’m happy to continue answering notary questions here on the forums. Specifically:
- If all of your notary requests have been stuck in the
In Progressstate for more than a week, please start a thread including the request UUID and the creation date of the earlier stuck request. - If a small number of your requests are stuck in the
In Progressstate but new requests get processed normally, please start a thread including the request UUIDs and creation dates of each of the stuck requests.
If you start a new thread, put it in the Code Signing > Notarization. That way I’ll be sure to see it go by.
Finally, if requests start failing with the message Team is not yet configured for notarization, see this post.
