"To receive payments from Apple, you must add a bank account." As an Apple "Individual" developer, can I accept payments to my corporate card?
Bank Account
Probably not. If it's asking for a bank account, you have to give it a bank account. Why would you want proceeds from your individual account to go to a corporate account?
Hi, and thank you for your response.
You’re right — Apple requires a valid bank account for receiving payments, and usually, this is expected to be a personal account when the developer account is registered as “Individual.” However, I’m based in Uzbekistan, and I’d like to explain why I’m trying to direct payments to a corporate (LLC) bank account, even though I’m currently using an Individual developer account.
In Uzbekistan, many developers initially register as self-employed due to simplified taxation and lower compliance requirements. This model works well up to a point, but it has certain practical and legal limitations:
Legal Income Limit: If a self-employed person earns more than approximately 1 billion UZS (about $80,000–90,000) annually, they are legally required to switch to a formal business entity such as an LLC (locally known as an “MChJ”) and pay taxes accordingly. Continuing to operate as self-employed beyond this limit would be a violation of local tax law.
Accounting Challenges: To be honest, when I operated as a self-employed individual, both my accountant and I struggled to clearly understand how to properly document and report income from platforms like Apple. For example, issuing invoices, tracking incoming payments from international sources, and officially reporting that revenue was confusing and created uncertainty. The self-employment framework simply doesn’t support structured accounting at that level.
LLC as a Practical Solution: Since forming an LLC, these issues have been much easier to manage. Generating invoices, documenting income, submitting reports, and working with my accountant are all more straightforward. A corporate account provides the right legal and administrative tools for clean, transparent accounting — especially as revenue grows.
So even though I’m using an Individual developer account with Apple (mostly because it's quicker and easier to set up), the income I receive is intended to be reported, taxed, and documented through my LLC. Receiving payments directly into the corporate account would help streamline the process and ensure compliance with local tax authorities.
Of course, if Apple’s policy strictly requires using a personal account, I’ll follow that rule. I just wanted to clarify why this setup would be significantly more practical and legally appropriate for me, based on how things work in my country.
Thanks again for your time and consideration.
