DCC round-trip preserving authored data

When I iterate geometry in Maya/Blender after assigning components, prototype overrides, and lightmaps in RCP 3, does re-importing the updated USD preserve those bindings, or do they need reauthoring on each import? What's the recommended round-trip for art that's still changing?

Hi Steve! No. You don't need to recreate your ECS configuration when updating your assets. We understand that's a crucial part of the authoring flow and we made great improvements to this workflow.

Something new in Reality Composer Pro 3 is the "Reimport" feature. If you want to update your USD in the editor you simply reimport it. Or even better. There's an option (on by default) that will automatically monitor file changes from where you imported the USD from and upon file changes, the editor will pick up the new version for you.
