I am using Xcode 26.2, ProductBuildVersion 17C52.
I read the xcodebuild(1) manual included with this installation. It describes -checkFirstLaunchStatus as checking whether additional system components or configuration tasks need to be performed, and says that it exits with 0 when system components are up to date. However, it does not explicitly state whether this result includes acceptance of the currently required Xcode and SDK license agreements.
Does exit status 0 from:
/usr/bin/xcodebuild -checkFirstLaunchStatus
also confirm that the required Xcode and SDK license agreements are already accepted?
If not, is there a supported, status-only command or user-interface location that reports whether those agreements are currently accepted, without accepting or reaccepting them, installing components, or running a build?
Please clarify:
- The supported command or interface, if one exists.
- The meaning of its possible status results.
- Any required privileges.
- Whether invoking it can change any system or Xcode state.
If no supported non-mutating method exists for checking license acceptance separately, please confirm that as well.
I have reviewed the locally installed documentation but have not executed the proposed xcodebuild command.
