Weatherkit - visibility units and height
reposting this in case it got missed the first time around here https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/775900 We had a question that came up when we comparing data from WeatherKit to other sources - WeatherKit visibility was well beyond the boundaries we had historically, even from Darksky. That raises two questions: is visibility actually in meters like the docs say? is this visibility at ground level, 500ft, or some other height? We were seeing visibility numbers of up to 40 miles (after converting the number the API sent to miles), where all of our other sources are usually within 10 miles

Touchscreen gestures in CarPlay aren't recognized in the app
Touchscreen gestures in CarPlay aren't recognized in the app (delegate CPMapTemplateDelegate functions aren't called). Tried also in the Coastal Roads demo app to add test functions to check that pan functions are called - the same: func mapTemplateDidBeginPanGesture(_ mapTemplate: CPMapTemplate) { MemoryLogger.shared.appendEvent("Did begin pan gesture.") } func mapTemplate(_ mapTemplate: CPMapTemplate, panBeganWith direction: CPMapTemplate.PanDirection) { MemoryLogger.shared.appendEvent("Did begin pan gesture with direction \(direction.rawValue).") } Note: buttons (on carplay app) are working when pressing on them. Also, the desktop of carplay can be panned (by swipe gesture). Using Xcode 14.3, MacBook pro M1

Universal link not working
My ASA file is located here https://staging.docyt.com/apple-appsite-association It downloads fine. It does not have .json extension and neither does it reside inside the ./well-known folder. Should it work? Because opening the link https://staging.docyt.com/reset-password is not opening the app installed via TestFlight . Installing via XCode however works fine. Please help

Pencilkit custom pen
I want to create a brush similar to a fountain pen, with a three-dimensional feel to the strokes and a distinct tip. Alternatively, is it possible to achieve this by modifying the configuration parameters of a fountain pen brush?

Associated domain file for domain-bound code
We are looking to setup domain-bound codes for our app and need to add the associated domain file to our website. We currently do not use Universal Links or Password AutoFill. We have looked at the documentation but are not sure of what the contents of the association file should be to enable domain-bound codes if you are not using Universal Links or Password AutoFill. Can any assistance be provided?

Can not replicate the Apple Review error
Hello there! So Im trying to upload an app to the App Store for iphone and Ipad, but from the revision team the same message always appears, the app crash. So I know the "it works on my computer" sounds bad but....works on my computer and my test system. Dont know what to do since I dont know how to replicate the error. This is the rely they sent me: Issue Description The app exhibited one or more bugs that would negatively impact users. Bug description: at time of review the app’s interface went blank at launch. Review device details: Device type: iPad Air (5th generation) OS version: iPadOS 18.4.1 Anyone has any idea on how can I replicate the error and maybe check the logs? Im completely blind on this one.

Issue with Live CallerID URL Caching
I've been testing the Live CallerID feature using the Apple-provided local server example - live-caller-id-lookup-example. I've been running a local server with tunneling using ngrok for the initial setup. Everything was working perfectly with the following setup: @main final class CallerID: LiveCallerIDLookupProtocol { var context: LiveCallerIDLookupExtensionContext { LiveCallerIDLookupExtensionContext( serviceURL: URL(string: "https://example-tunnel.ngrok.io")!, tokenIssuerURL: URL(string: "https://example-tunnel.ngrok.io")!, userTierToken: Data(base64Encoded: "BBBB")! ) } } However, after I updated the URLs to the production ones, I encountered an issue: @main struct CallerID: LiveCallerIDLookupProtocol { var context: LiveCallerIDLookupExtensionContext { LiveCallerIDLookupExtensionContext( serviceURL: URL(string: "https://example.net/")!, tokenIssuerURL: URL(string: "https://example/issue")!, userTierToken: Data(base64Encoded: "BBBB")! ) } } The problem is that during calls or when updating PIR parameters, the application still attempts to connect to the initial ngrok tunnel URLs instead of using the new production URLs. I can confirm this because the logs on my local server show incoming requests, indicating that the application is still referencing the old ngrok tunnel URLs. Steps I’ve taken to resolve the issue include: Deleting and reinstalling the application. Using reset(forExtensionWithIdentifier:) Unfortunately, these attempts have not been successful. I even extracted the binary of the app and extension to inspect the strings, confirming that the correct production URLs are present. The server was started with the following command: PIRService --hostname 127.0.0.1 service-config.json Could this be some sort of caching bug on the iOS side, or am I missing something?

Any way to adjust the speechRecognitionMetadata pause duration?
Speech Framework I've been checking for SFSpeechRecognitionMetadata to determine the end of a sentence when using Voice Recognition. Yet it doesn't detect small pauses but only large ones, so that I've transcribed basically an entire paragraph before going onto the next one. Besides implementing your own timer, are there any other ways to have more natural pauses to detect the end of sentences, similar to the browser's Web Speech recognition? Since it's in Safari, I assume there should be some similar feature that can be equivalent in MacOS.

Live Caller ID Lookup & PIRService blocking inconsistent
I've successfully started the Live Caller ID Lookup example and initialized the PIRService. I added several identities to the input.txtpb file, some with block: true and others with block: false. Here is the file but modified phone digits: identities { key: "+40790123123" value { name: "Blocking 1" cache_expiry_minutes: 7 block: true } } identities { key: "+972526111111" value { name: "Blocking 2" cache_expiry_minutes: 7 block: true } } identities { key: "+123" value { name: "Adam" cache_expiry_minutes: 8 block: false category: IDENTITY_CATEGORY_PERSON } } identities { key: "+972526111112" value { name: "Identified Business Name 1" cache_expiry_minutes: 1 block: false category: IDENTITY_CATEGORY_BUSINESS } } identities { key: "+972526111113" value { name: "Identified Business Name 2" cache_expiry_minutes: 1 block: false category: IDENTITY_CATEGORY_BUSINESS } } The main issue is that only the number marked as +40790123123 was actually blocked, while "Blocking 2" appeared as identified contacts with their assigned name displayed. Notably, the only blocked number was a foreign number with a different country code than the number being called. The other numbers belonged to the same country. Can someone clarify whether this is a bug in the example project or an issue with the data file?

CXCallUpdate not working for outgoing calls
I try to update remoteHandle using CXCallUpdate for outgoing call, but this works only on iOS 15 but not on 17 or 18 (16 didn't test). This problem actual only for outgoing calls, but for incoming calls update works fine. func startOutgoingCall(with callID: UUID, userID: String) { let handle = CXHandle(type: .generic, value: userID) let action = CXStartCallAction(call: callID, handle: handle) callController.requestTransaction(with: action) { [weak self] error in // ... } } func updateOutgoingCall(with callID: UUID, groupID: String) { let update = CXCallUpdate() update.remoteHandle = CXHandle(type: .generic, value: groupID) provider.reportCall(with: callID, updated: update) } I also tried phoneNumber type but it seems initial handle that I set to CXStartCallAction not possible to change (value or even type). I use this handle value to implement recall by tap on call in Recents tab of system address book. But since my calls can transform from p2p to group call, I need to update handle value or find some another way to pass call identification info.

SetFocusFilterIntent `perform()` method is not called on iOS 18 beta
I’ve set up a focus filter, but the perform() method in SetFocusFilterIntent isn't called when the focus mode is toggled on or off on my iPhone since I updated to iOS 18 beta (22A5326f). I can reproduce the issue for my app, but focus filters are also broken for any third-party apps installed on my phone, so I guess it's not specific to how I've implemented my filter intent. This used to work perfectly on iOS 17. I didn't change a single line of code, and it broke completely on the latest iOS 18 beta. I've filed a bug report including a sysdiagnose (FB14715113). To the developers out there, is this something you are also observing in your apps?

How to Archive iMessages via API with User Authorization Workflow?
I’m working on a solution to archive iMessages by using an API or similar mechanism. Here’s the desired workflow: The user provides their phone number to initiate the archiving process. They receive a text message with a URL link. Clicking on the link authorizes the archiving of their iMessages. Once authorized, their text messages are archived. So far, I’ve researched third-party services and APIs but haven’t found any that offer this capability directly for iMessages. Questions: Are there any APIs or frameworks (Apple or third-party) that support accessing and archiving iMessages programmatically?

Testing iOS Smart Banner in Debug or Non-Production Mode.
Hello, I'm currently working with Smart App Banners and trying to test how they appear and behave on iOS. However, I need to test the Smart Banner in a debug or non-production environment to ensure everything works as expected. According to the documentation for Smart App Banners (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/webkit/promoting-apps-with-smart-app-banners?language=objc), it appears that the banner only shows in production builds or live apps. Is there any way to trigger or test the Smart Banner in a debug mode or non-production environment? Any advice or workaround for testing this feature would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Problem with DeviceActivitySchedule and DeviceActivityMonitor
Hey, I’m having some issues with DeviceActivitySchedule and DeviceActivityMonitor. I want to create a schedule that blocks apps (by family control) when it starts. However, even when the schedule is supposed to start on this iPhone, nothing happens, and no logs are being recorded main target: // TestView_.swift // Sloth // // Created by on 11/01/2025. // import SwiftUI import DeviceActivity import FamilyControls import ManagedSettings struct TestView_: View { var body: some View { VStack(spacing: 20) { Text("Test DeviceActivityMonitor") .font(.title) Button("Start test mon") { let now = Date() let start = Calendar.current.date(byAdding: .minute, value: 2, to: now)! let end = Calendar.current.date(byAdding: .minute, value: 20, to: now)! print("thd") DeviceScheduleTester().scheduleTestActivity(startDate: start, endDate: end) } } .padding() } } extension DeviceActivityName { static let daily = DeviceActivityName("daily") } DeviceActivityMonitor: class DeviceScheduleTester { private let center = DeviceActivityCenter() func scheduleTestActivity(startDate: Date, endDate: Date) { let calendar = Calendar.current let startComponents = calendar.dateComponents([.hour, .minute], from: startDate) let endComponents = calendar.dateComponents([.hour, .minute], from: endDate) // Tworzymy schedule let schedule = DeviceActivitySchedule( intervalStart: startComponents, intervalEnd: endComponents, repeats: true ) do { try center.startMonitoring(.daily, during:schedule) print("startMonit /(\(schedule))") } catch { print("ghfgh") } } } struct TestView__Previews: PreviewProvider { static var previews: some View { TestView_() } } DeviceActivityMonitor target: // BlockingAppsMonitorExtension // // Created by on 10/01/2025. import DeviceActivity import FamilyControls import ManagedSettings import os let logger = Logger() public class BlockingAppsMonitor: DeviceActivityMonitor { private let store = ManagedSettingsStore() public override func intervalDidStart(for activity: DeviceActivityName) { super.intervalDidStart(for: activity) print("Rozpoczęcie interwału blokowania \(activity.rawValue)") logger.info("intervalDidStart") startBlocking() } public override func intervalDidEnd(for activity: DeviceActivityName) { super.intervalDidEnd(for: activity) print("Zakończenie interwału blokowania \(activity.rawValue)") logger.info("intervalDidend") stopBlocking() } @discardableResult private func startBlocking() -> Int { print("number of unique apps") return 51 store.shield.applicationCategories = .all() // return exceptions.count } private func stopBlocking() { store.shield.applicationCategories = nil store.shield.applications = nil } } INB4: In both files are added family controls Secent file is added in DeviceActivityMonitor target. Apple answer please?
