I have been working to implement Apple's Live Caller ID feature, which requires setting up a relay server. Following Apple's guidelines, I submitted a request through the provided link to utilize Apple's relay server. However, it's been three weeks, and I have yet to receive a response. I contacted Apple Support, but they indicated that this is a technical matter beyond their scope.
Has anyone successfully received confirmation from Apple regarding the use of their relay server for Live Caller ID? If so, could you share your experience or any advice on how to proceed?

Thank you.

I am developing a parental control app using Apple’s Screen Time API and FamilyControls Framework. My goal is to allow parents to remotely block apps on their child’s device from their own phone. Anyone have any idea how can i do that?

I am a macOS software developer using Xcode and Objective-C. I have a wallpaper app on the App Store, and recently, a few users have asked if the app can be excluded from the ‘Screen Time’ statistics. Is there a way to allow users to choose whether or not the app should appear in the ‘Screen Time’ tracking? I have already set LSUIElement to YES in the info.plist, but the app is still being tracked in ‘Screen Time.
After updating to watchOS 11.1, updates using WidgetCenter.shared.reloadAllTimelines() in WKRefreshBackgroundTask stopped working. When the background task is triggered, it gets data from the phone and updates the WidgetKit complications. But now the refresh call WidgetCenter.shared.reloadAllTimelines() does not update the complications.
Widgets on the widget is not responding to the touch properly. This issue is also affecting within the home screen widget in a way that the widget switches to light mode by itself even though I am in dark mode. Additionally, lock screen does not to respond once the lock screen widget has been edited. Is anyone else having this issue?
In the documentation for a Message Filter Extension it states:
If you have servers that can help your app extension determine how to handle a message, you must add the Associated Domains capability to your Xcode project and specify those domains.
(https://developer.apple.com/documentation/sms_and_call_reporting/sms_and_mms_message_filtering/creating_a_message_filter_app_extension)
The words servers and domains are in the plural.
If it's possible to specify multiple servers/domains for a Message Filter Extension then how is that done? There's no documentation nor reference for that.
If multiple domains can be added to the info.plist then what is the iOS behavior in that case?
Can the extension supply/change which domain is used at run time?
I am developing an app that can help users disable selected apps at a specified time, so that users can get away from their phones and enjoy real life.
Here is my data structure:
extension ActivityModel {
@NSManaged public var id: UUID
@NSManaged public var name: String
@NSManaged public var weeks: Data
@NSManaged public var weekDates: Data
@NSManaged public var appTokens: Data
}
Among them, weeks is of [Bool] type, indicating which weeks from Sunday to Saturday are effective; weekDates is of [[Date,Date]] type, indicating the effective time period; appTokens is of Set type, indicating the selected apps。
At the beginning, I will open a main monitor:
let deviceActivityCenter = DeviceActivityCenter()
do{
try deviceActivityCenter.startMonitoring(
DeviceActivityName(activityModel.id),
during: DeviceActivitySchedule(
intervalStart: DateComponents(hour: 0,minute: 0,second: 0),
intervalEnd: DateComponents(hour: 23,minute: 59,second: 59),
repeats: true
)
)
}catch {
return false
}
Since the time range may be different every day, I will start the sub-monitoring of the day every time the main monitoring starts:
override func intervalDidStart(for activity: DeviceActivityName) {
super.intervalDidStart(for: activity)
if activity.rawValue.hasPrefix("Sub-") {
ActivityModelManager.disableApps(
Tools.getUUIDFromString(activity.rawValue)
)
return
}
let weekIndex = Calendar.current.component(.weekday, from: .now)
let weeks = ActivityModelManager.getWeeks(activity.rawValue)
if weeks[weekIndex] {
let weekDates =
ActivityModelManager.getWeekDates(activity.rawValue)
let deviceActivityCenter = DeviceActivityCenter()
do{
try deviceActivityCenter.startMonitoring(
DeviceActivityName("Sub-" + activityModel.id),
during: DeviceActivitySchedule(
intervalStart: getHourAndMinute(weekDates[weekIndex][0]),
intervalEnd: getHourAndMinute(weekDates[weekIndex][1]),
repeats: false
)
)
}catch {
return
}
}esle {
return
}
}
I will judge whether it is main monitoring or sub monitoring based on the different activity names.
When the sub-monitor starts, I will get the bound application and then disable it:
static func disableApps(_ id : UUID){
let appTokens = ActivityModelManager.getLimitAppById(id)
let name = ManagedSettingsStore.Name(id.uuidString)
let store = ManagedSettingsStore(named: name)
store.shield.applications = appTokens
return
}
When the child monitoring is finished, I resume the application:
static func enableApps(_ id : UUID){
let name = ManagedSettingsStore.Name(id.uuidString)
let store = ManagedSettingsStore(named: name)
store.shield.applications = []
}
The above is my code logic.
When using DeviceActivityMonitorExtension, I found the following problems:
intervalDidStart may be called multiple times, resulting in several sub-monitors being started.
After a period of time, the monitoring is turned off.
The static methods enableApps and disableApps are sometimes not called

There's a 128mb limit for donating items to core spotlight. As far as I understand, there's a warning that shows in the Xcode console when either approaching or hitting that limit. It would be great if there was an API to check the current status of available storage for QA purposes to see if we're either donating too much or can donate more. Thanks!
After reading Apple documentation (FamilyControls, DeviceActivity, ManagedSettings, ManagedSettingsUI, ScreenTime) and testing the API, I do not find a way to get the child's device apps on the parent device in order to block them or disable them for a certain time.
Is there a way of doing it?
Or can it only be done locally on the child device?

is there documentation where we can find details for historical parameters / limitations - so far i've found that the days limit on single API calls days limit is 7. Any other similar specs would be good to have
where can we find documentation on the following fields included in payloads? They're not listed alongside the other fields in the documentation linked below:
https://developer.apple.com/documentation/weatherkitrestapi/hourweatherconditions
precipitationIntensity
snowfallAmount
Or if we can get the data type, unit used, and description here that would be great
The server returns a response content-type must be text/html when universal links are configured
application/json can be used?
We had a question that came up when we comparing data from WeatherKit to other sources - WeatherKit visibility was well beyond the boundaries we had historically, even from Darksky. That raises two questions:
is visibility actually in meters like the docs say?
is this visibility at ground level, 500ft, or some other height?
We were seeing visibility numbers of up to 40 miles (after converting the number the API sent to miles), where all of our other sources are usually within 10 miles
I’m working on a solution to archive iMessages by using an API or similar mechanism. Here’s the desired workflow:
The user provides their phone number to initiate the archiving process.
They receive a text message with a URL link.
Clicking on the link authorizes the archiving of their iMessages.
Once authorized, their text messages are archived.
So far, I’ve researched third-party services and APIs but haven’t found any that offer this capability directly for iMessages.
Questions:
Are there any APIs or frameworks (Apple or third-party) that support accessing and archiving iMessages programmatically?
Hello everyone,
I’m currently developing an app that uses the Family Controls API, specifically the Screen Time API. However, my current entitlement is limited to development mode, which prevents me from publishing my app on TestFlight.
I have already contacted Apple Developer Support for production access but wanted to reach out to the community as well and I was referenced to FamilyControls API documentation and I couldn't find anything related to my case. Has anyone successfully upgraded their entitlement from development-only to production? Any insights on the process, tips for communicating with Developer Support, or guidance on ensuring full compliance with the Family Controls guidelines would be extremely helpful.
Hi,
My env. is ..
Xcode: Version 16.2 (16C5032a)
macOS Sequoia: Version 15.1
And I have 2 problems.
Please give me the advice..
Failed Message.
When I run the automatically generated app as it is, the following error(warning?) message appears in the terminal.
Can't find or decode reasons
Failed to get or decode unavailable reasons
NSBundle file:///System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MetalTools.framework/ principal class is nil because all fallbacks have failed
Not on the simulator
And the result is not running in the simulator, but instead appears as a window. (The simulator works fine when launched separately, but the app from the current project doesn’t show up in it.)
The example database/server provided by Apple for Live Caller ID contains a hardcoded database with a tiny number of pre-defined numbers.
However, its not expected to be representational of an live real world usage server.
But the question is how can that be accomplished if its a requirement that the data be KPIR encrypted?
In real world scenarios, the factors that effect whether a number should be blocked or not are continually changing and evolving on a minute-by-minute basis and new information becomes available or existing information changes.
If the database supports tens of millions or hundreds of millions of constantly changing phone numbers, in order to meet the requirements of the Live Caller ID being KPIR encrypted, that would imply the database has to re-encrypt its database of millions endlessly for all time.
That seems unfeasable and impractical to implement.
Therefore how do the Apple designers of this feature envisage/suggest a real-world server supporting millions of changing data should meet the requirement to be KPIR encrypted?
I'm writing an app that uses text to speech. On the physical Iphone 12 it works but on the simulator I don't get any speech from my app.
I tried the following to enable.
Settings -> Accessebility -> "Spoken Content" -> "Speak Selecton" to ON (green)
in Voices I added the German Anna that I use on my Iphone with the downloaded enhancements.
The speech test works in this menu but not in my app. What am I missing ?
Cheers,
Gerhard
Hey,
I would love to access the users Contact (ie. the Me Card)
Apple recently released the Invites app and within this app you can find the users Contacts Photo. I tried to replicate this behaviour but I currently need to match based on a name or email or something else. I have no idea how to receive this data because when using the Invites app I only remember the app asking for Contacts permission and nothing else so far.
let store = CNContactStore()
let keysToFetch = [CNContactImageDataAvailableKey, CNContactImageDataKey, CNContactThumbnailImageDataKey] as [CNKeyDescriptor]
let email = "test@test.de"
let predicate = CNContact.predicateForContacts(matchingEmailAddress: email)
do {
let contacts = try store.unifiedContacts(matching: predicate, keysToFetch: keysToFetch)
let imageDatas: [Data] = contacts.compactMap { $0.imageData }
self.images = imageDatas.map { UIImage(data: $0) ?? UIImage() }
} catch {
print("Error fetching contacts: \(error)")
}
This is how I am retrieving the Image. MAYBE someone can help me out.
Thank you so far
~ Flo
I have been using the hourly weather forecast API, for some reason sometimes the API fails with 400 Bad Request, but on retrying just a minute later the call successfully returns data. The start and end time are 2 days apart so I don't think it's an issue with the time frame.
The failed calls also don't return any reason so not sure what is the exact failure.
Has anyone encountered this issue or knows why this might be happening??
Thanks!!
