Strange behavior of Speakerbox (or CallKit) with headset operation
I've run Speakerbox(https://docs-assets.developer.apple.com/published/8e99045a90e2/MakingAndReceivingVoIPCallsWithCallKit.zip) to check the behavior of CallKit. When there was one active call and one on hold and another call was received, the behavior was defferent depending on whether I operated it from a headset or not. No headset or operated from CallKit screen When "End & Accept" tapped: the active call is hung up, and the received call is answered. When "End Held & Accept" tapped: the held call is hung up, the active call is held, and the received call is answered. Operated from headset Answer opeation cannot be performed for unknown reasons Disconnect operation caused that all calls other than the one on hold are hung up and the held call is unheld. Hold operation caused that the active call is held and the received call is answered. (Strangely, there are two held calls.) And when I toggle calls at this time, one of the two on hold is hung up for unknown reasons. I tried changing the settings of CXProviderConfiguration and CXCallUpdate, and changing the options in the Audio Session category, but it did not improve. I checked CXActions occurring, and it was as follows. (Call A = held call, Call B = active call, Call C = received call) Disconnect (or Answer?) operation (lacking CXEndCallAction for Call A) CXEndCallAction for Call B CXAnswerCallAction for Call C CXEndCallAction for Call C <- weird CXSetHeldCallAction for Call A onHold=false Hold operation (lacking lacking CXEndCallAction for Call A) CXSetHeldCallAction for Call B CXAnswerCallAction for Call C Toggle calls CXSetHeldCallAction for Call C onHold=true CXSetHeldCallAction for Call A onHold=false CXSetHeldCallAction for Call B onHold=false <- weird CXEndCallAction for Call B

Push-to-Talk: Disable “Leave” Button in System Screen & APNs Only Triggered Once
Dear Apple Team, I have two questions regarding the Push-to-Talk framework on iOS 18: Would it be possible to disable or hide the “Leave” button in the system screen? Currently, only the “Talk” button can be disabled when using the "Listen Only" mode, but the “Leave” button remains active. It would be very helpful to have the option to control or hide this button as well, depending on the use case. At the moment, I can only detect if the user pressed the "Leave" button by checking the PTChannelLeaveReason. However, this alone is not sufficient to prevent unwanted user actions or to guide the user experience more precisely in certain scenarios. I only receive the APNs push notification “type: voip-ptt“ once per active channel. My app is running in the background, and I frequently switch between full- and half-duplex to allow users to reply immediately. After some time, even though a new notification should be triggered, no banner is shown. When I try to talk via the framework, the active speaker is correctly updated, but no notification appears. Only after leaving and rejoining the channel do I receive a new notification – and again, just once. Could you please let me know whether this is expected behavior or if it might be a bug? Thank you very much in advance. Best regards, Eugen

WatchOS smart alarm using WKExtendedRuntimeSession
I’m developing a smart alarm app that makes use of the extended runtime session. I’ve looked at the docs, and one of the background modes for Apple watch is smart alarm. The docs also say that an extended runtime session can only be scheduled one at a time, and while the app is open, which isn’t very intuitive for an alarm app that runs on schedules. I’ve seen other apps do something similar, but I’m trying to make this fully automated, without the user having to do too much manually to reschedule the smart alarm. Is there no way to do this? I would’ve thought the smart alarm background modes would allow to schedule more than 1/a repeating extended runtime session.

Issue with CXSetTranslatingCallAction – "Couldn't communicate with a helper application" error
Hi Team, We are encountering issues while implementing the live translation feature in our VoIP application using CallKit on iOS 26.0. Specifically, we are attempting to use the CXSetTranslatingCallAction transaction to enable translation programmatically during an active call. However, executing this transaction results in the following error: "Couldn't communicate with a helper application." This occurs consistently when we attempt to trigger the translation setup without user interaction. We are seeking clarification on the following points: Is it possible to enable CallKit's live translation feature using CXSetTranslatingCallAction purely programmatically, without requiring the user to interact with the system-provided Call UI? What does the above error indicate in the context of CXSetTranslatingCallAction? Are there specific conditions, entitlements, or background service requirements that must be fulfilled to communicate with CallKit? Code snippet: let translationAction = CXSetTranslatingCallAction(call: callUUID, isTranslating: true, localLocale: Locale.init(identifier: "es-ES"), remoteLocale: Locale(identifier: "en-US")) let transaction = CXTransaction(action: translationAction) callController.request(transaction) We would deeply appreciate any guidance you can provide regarding the feasibility of our approach and how to address this error. Thank you for your support.

TipKit: Are tips marked "IgnoresDisplayFrequency" also ignored by display frequency?
Greetings, I have set up two tips in my app, and my app is configured with Tips.configure([.displayFrequency(.daily)]. Tip 1 is set up with no options. Tip 2 has the IgnoresDisplayFrequency(true) option set: var options: [Option] { MaxDisplayCount(3) // We want the user to see these because it's important. IgnoresDisplayFrequency(true) } This option works as expected, as far as I can tell, in terms of making sure that Tip 2 is shown even if I've already seen Tip 1 today. If I interact with my app such that Tip 1 is displayed, and I then interact with it such that Tip 2 should be displayed, Tip 2 shows immediately, even though a day hasn't passed. However, if I do this the other way around, so that Tip 2 is displayed first, and then I interact so that Tip 1 should be displayed, my expectation would be that Tip 1 is not displayed, because another tip has already been shown today. I expected that it would not be shown until the following day, since it is not configured to ignore the tip frequency. That's not what happens, though. Tip 1 is displayed right away, even though Tip 2 has just been shown. This makes me think that setting IgnoresDisplayFrequency on Tip 2 is causing it to also be ignored when considering whether other tips should be shown. I did try omitting IgnoresDisplayFrequency option, and then as expected, only one tip is shown on a day, no matter which one is shown first.

ShieldConfigurationExtension & SwiftData
Hi, I am developing a Screen Time App and I am having issues with the ShieldConfigurationExtension (ShieldConfigurationDataSource). I know this extensions is sandboxed but I should be able to read data from the main app. I am using SwiftData as my database, but I am unable to initialize it in the extensions with an error indicating insufficient file permissions. I have App Group set up and I am able to share data using UserDefaults but that is just inconvenient. Is there any way I could just open the SwiftData in read only mode so that I could display the user some info on the shield? SwiftData Init: private func setupContainer() throws { let schema = Schema([ DogEntity.self, HouseEntity.self ]) // Use app group container if available let config: ModelConfiguration if let containerURL = FileManager.default.containerURL( forSecurityApplicationGroupIdentifier: "group.\(Bundle.app.bundleIdentifier ?? "")" ) { config = ModelConfiguration(schema: schema, url: containerURL.appendingPathComponent("default.sqlite")) } else { config = ModelConfiguration(schema: schema) } self.container = try ModelContainer(for: schema, configurations: [config]) } Error in extension: fault: Attempt to add read-only file at path file:///private/var/mobile/Containers/Shared/AppGroup/51431199-5919-4AE6-940C-6FE3C53EEB46/default.sqlite read/write. Crashes on iOS 18.x
Starting with iOS 18.3, we are getting infrequent crash reports somehow related to web sockets. Are there any new caveats we should be aware of or is it just a CFNetwork bug? AlarmKit Not Playing Custom Sound or Named System Sounds - iOS 26 beta 4 (23A5297i)
I'm using the new AlarmKit framework to schedule and trigger alarms in my Swift app in iOS 26 beta 4 (23A5297i). I'm trying to customize the alarm sound using a sound file embedded in the app bundle or by referencing known system tones. Problem: No matter what I pass to .named("sound-2"), whether a file bundle url, .named("sound-2.caf"), tried .mp3, .caf & .aiff, or a known iOS system sound like .named("Radar") ("Chimes", etc.), the alarm always plays the default system alert tone. There's no error or warning, but the custom or specified sound is silently ignored. sound: .named("sound-2") Question: What is the correct method or approach to play custom sound / music when Alarm Triggers? What .named("...") expects file name, file Path URL or System sound name? Is there any specific audio file length accepted or specific format? Challenge: The alarm functionality feels incomplete without support for custom sounds. A single default alert tone is often not sufficient to wake up users effectively. Hope it will be fixed in the next iOS updates.

How to change default settings(a4,color etc.) on print system dialog in macOS programatically
Hello, I added a printer using lpadmin command. ` lpadmin "-p", "print_queue", "-D", "print queue", "-P", "temp/data/driver.ppd", "-E", "-o", "printer-error-policy=abort-job", "-o", "printer-is-shared=false", "-o", "cupsIPPSupplies=false", "-o", "cupsSNMPSupplies=false", "-o", "ColorModel=Color", "-o", "Media=A3", "-o", "OutputPaperSize=A3" then I set default printing options for your user account via lpoptions `lpoptions "-p", "print_queue", "-o", "Duplex=DuplexNoTumble", "-o", "Media=A3" But still default values in system print dialog are set to a4 and grayscale. Why? Is there any way how to change it to correspond with values set by these commands? Also tried to change driver files defaults, but again, nothing.

Device Activity Privacy Restrictions
Hey there! So, I'm trying to see what I'm able to do with the Device Activity Report Extension, and I have a few questions about the following quote: To protect the user’s privacy, your extension runs in a sandbox. This sandbox prevents your extension from making network requests or moving sensitive content outside the extension’s address space. In particular, what constitutes the address space for this extension? Can I save data to a UserDefaults object that only the extension can access? (Apps like Opal allow the user to label apps as "distracting" and "non-distracting", and I'm wondering how they do that!) From what I've read, I believe it cannot write to a shared app group or model (and I just want to confirm this) It also seems that there's nothing preventing it from reading data from the main app, so I'm just wondering if it's able to read data from an app group or model with no problem. Thanks in advance!

WeatherKit enhancement request (provide AQI information)
Please refer to Feedback Assistant ID FB18967784 1.In which locations you would like to see air quality. [Ans] Base on user's location information(GPS). 2.What air quality data you would like to see: pollutant concentrations, official air quality scales used in each country, health information related to air quality, etc. [Ans] Official air quality scales used in each country. Generally calculated from O3, PM2.5, PM10, CO, SO2, NO2. 3.If possible, how you would like to use air quality information. This can help us ensure the right data is available to best support your use. [Ans] Please refer to the screenshot. I plan to add AQI to this screen. It's a screenshot in the development stage. Thank you!

Filtered dataFrame displays original dataFrame values
I'm importing a csv file of 299 rows and creating a subset by filtering on one column value (24 rows). I want to Chart just the filtered values. How to display a full-screen light based (sunrise) alarm notification at specific time (like Clock app)? Can Critical Alerts help with visuals too?
I'm building a light-based(sunrise) alarm iOS app using SwiftUI , the idea is to wake users not with sound, but with a full-screen bright light UI (mimicking sunrise or a light alarm clock). I'd like to replicate behavior similar to the native Clock app: My goal: When the scheduled time is reached, forcefully display a full-screen "light" screen, even if the device is: locked running another app or the app is backgrounded The problem: So far, I can: Show a full-screen AlarmView only if the app is opening But I cannot: Automatically wake the screen when app is closed My confusion: I've read that Critical Alerts allow bypassing Do Not Disturb and Silent Mode but that's only for sound right? Can Critical Alerts also help with waking the screen or displaying visuals like full-screen UI automatically? If not, is there any way to simulate this kind of alarm: light-based screen effect ( sunrise alarm clock) triggered automatically at a specific time without needing the user to manually tap the notification? Do I need to consider: PushKit + VoIP? CallKit (but it's meant for calls)? Background tasks + silent push? Or is it simply impossible without special entitlements? Thanks in advance for any insights. This seems like a simple use case (light-based alarm), but I’m surprised how limited the options is.

iOS26 beta4 CallKit block number function not working
Hi I'm novice developer. I’m currently developing a phone number blocking app using a Call Directory Handler Extension. The blocking feature works perfectly on iOS 18.5, but it doesn’t seem to function properly on iOS 26 beta 4. The extension is invoked, and the numbers are passed correctly, but incoming calls are not being blocked as expected. Is there a known issue with CallKit or Call Directory Extensions on iOS 26 beta 4

Unable to locate my stickers in message app after installed my app
My sticker app was rejected when I submitted it to App Store Connect. Reason: "We were unable to locate your stickers in message app after installed your app." When I checked on an iOS18 device, this was correct. However, my stickers is visible when I dragged the half-modal(like sheetPresentationController) part. I hope what I need to do to get the stickers to display initially. My code(Xcode16.2) class StickerViewController: MSStickerBrowserViewController { var stickers = [MSSticker]() override func viewDidLoad() { super.viewDidLoad() loadStickers() } override var stickerSize: MSStickerSize { get { return .small } } func loadStickers() { var imageSetPath = "en" for index in 1...20 { var strIndex = "" strIndex = "stmp" + String(index) + imageSetPath createSticker(assetLocation: "\(strIndex)", assetDescription: "\(strIndex)") } } func createSticker(assetLocation: String, assetDescription: String) { guard let path = Bundle.main.path(forResource: assetLocation, ofType: "png") else { return } let url = URL(fileURLWithPath: path) do { let sticker = try MSSticker(contentsOfFileURL: url, localizedDescription: assetDescription) stickers.append(sticker) } catch { print(error) } } } extension StickerViewController { override func numberOfStickers(in stickerBrowserView: MSStickerBrowserView) -> Int { return stickers.count } override func stickerBrowserView(_ stickerBrowserView: MSStickerBrowserView, stickerAt index: Int) -> MSSticker { return stickers[index] } }

Will RCS messages be filterable by a message filter extension?
A message filter extension is only forwarded SMSs by the OS for filtering, iMessages aren't. But what is the situation with RCS messages? Will they be filterable by a message filtering extension?

'init(contentsOfFile:)' was deprecated in iOS 18
content = try String(contentsOfFile: filepath) is the following warning. 'init(contentsOfFile:)' was deprecated in iOS 18: Use init(contentsOfFile:encoding:) instead After internet searching I could find an answer. I would appreciate a rewrite of my code line to get rid of 31 warnings. Thanks a LOT Charlie

Adding it read-only instead.

Filtered dataFrame displays original dataFrame values

My sticker app was rejected when I submitted it to App Store Connect. Reason: "We were unable to locate your stickers in message app after installed your app." When I checked on an iOS18 device, this was correct. However, my stickers is visible when I dragged the half-modal(like sheetPresentationController) part. I hope what I need to do to get the stickers to display initially. My code(Xcode16.2) class StickerViewController: MSStickerBrowserViewController { var stickers = [MSSticker]() override func viewDidLoad() { super.viewDidLoad() loadStickers() } override var stickerSize: MSStickerSize { get { return .small } } func loadStickers() { var imageSetPath = "en" for index in 1...20 { var strIndex = "" strIndex = "stmp" + String(index) + imageSetPath createSticker(assetLocation: "\(strIndex)", assetDescription: "\(strIndex)") } } func createSticker(assetLocation: String, assetDescription: String) { guard let path = Bundle.main.path(forResource: assetLocation, ofType: "png") else { return } let url = URL(fileURLWithPath: path) do { let sticker = try MSSticker(contentsOfFileURL: url, localizedDescription: assetDescription) stickers.append(sticker) } catch { print(error) } } } extension StickerViewController { override func numberOfStickers(in stickerBrowserView: MSStickerBrowserView) -> Int { return stickers.count } override func stickerBrowserView(_ stickerBrowserView: MSStickerBrowserView, stickerAt index: Int) -> MSSticker { return stickers[index] } }
