Understanding when the push provider calls stop() with the noNetworkAvailable reason
I have 3 phones iPhone 14 iOS 18.3 iPhone Xr iOS 18.5 iPhone Xr iOS 18.4.1 My app has a network extension, and I've noticed each phone having their connectivity interupted by calls on the push provider, calling stop with the noNetworkAvailable reason. The point of confusion is that each phone seems to get it's interuption at different times. For example one will get an interuption at 1:00, while the others is fine, while at 3:00 another will get an interuption, while the others are fine. This is confusing since a "no network available" seems to imply a problem with the router, or access point, but if that were the case, one would believe it should affect all the phones on the wifi. I don't see less interuptions on the iPhone14 vs the iPhone Xr. Do you believe the iOS version is affecting the performance? Could you please give me some insight, as to what could be going on inside these phones? P.S. I also see an error pop up when using NWConnection, this is inside the App. The state update handler will sometimes return the state, waiting(POSIX(.ENETDOWN)) Is there any relation to what's going on in the extension?

Use cellular data on the app while connected to hardware's wifi that doesn't have internet connection
Hello, I am in a very similar situation as described in the thread: https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/655183 Context: I am working on an app that receives data from a hardware device through its Wifi network, and the hardware is not connected to the internet. Now, I would need to call some API while still connected to hardware so I would need to use the cellular data. As mentioned on the thread, I can achieve this via Network framework, using the requiredInterfaceType property. But Is there any other way I can achieve this? I can also do some suggestion on the hardware if that's helpful. Thank you!

Error Domain=NSURLErrorDomain Code=-1009
When I make a local network HTTP request, an error occurs. I'm sure I've granted wireless data permissions and local network permissions, and I'm connected to the correct Wi-Fi. This problem is intermittent, but once it happens, it will keep happening, and the only way to fix it is to restart the phone. SecTrustEvaluateAsyncWithError keeps complaining “'DigiCert Global Root G3' certificate is not trusted" with self signed CA on iOS
I created a self signed CA and use it to generate/sign a client cert using openssl. Then I use the self signed client cert to do TLS client authentication with my server (which also uses the self signed CA). The issue I have is when I validate the self signed CA, by calling SecTrustEvaluateAsyncWithError, it always complains this error “'DigiCert Global Root G3' certificate is not trusted". However that CA (DigiCert Global Root G3) is not my self signed CA (my CA is 'MQTTSampleCA' and I attached a dump of the my CA cert in the PR in the end of this post), so I'm confused why the API keeps complaining that CA. After some researching, I see that is a well known CA so I download its cert from https://www.digicert.com/kb/digicert-root-certificates.htm, install and trust it on my iOS device, but that doesn't help and I still get the same error. I appreciate if anyone can share insights how to resolve this error.

WiFi Connect Error
When I used the iPhone 11 to scan the wifi connection, the system reported an error,   ‘’’ let config = NEHotspotConfiguration(ssid: name, passphrase: passwd, isWEP: false) let manager = NEHotspotConfigurationManager() manager.apply(config) { error in      } ’’’ NEHotspotConfigurationErrorDomain Code=8 “internal error.” , the only thins that fixes this issue it restarting the iPhone. How to Keep Cellular Data Active While Connected to a Local Hotspot for File Transfer?
Hi all, I’m developing a companion iOS app that connects to a device-created Wi-Fi hotspot to transfer videos or other files WebSocket. The challenge is: once the iPhone connects to this hotspot, it loses internet access because iOS routes all traffic through Wi-Fi. However, I’d like to keep the iPhone’s cellular data active and usable while staying connected to the local hotspot — so the app can access cloud APIs, or the user can continue using other apps that require internet access. I understand that iOS prioritizes Wi-Fi over cellular, but are there any supported workarounds or patterns (e.g., MFi programs, local-only Wi-Fi access, NEHotspotConfiguration behavior, etc.) that : • Using Wi-Fi only for local communication; • cellular to remain active for internet access. Any insights or Apple-recommended best practices would be greatly appreciated — especially any official references regarding MFi Accessory setup or NEHotspotConfiguration behavior in this context. PolicyDenied on Simulator with Xcode 16 and Network Framework NWBrowser
I'm using Network framework for communication between devices. The first time I instantiate an NWBrowser, it will prompt the user with a popup that says: Allow <app name> to find devices on local networks? The problem is, once I upgraded from Xcode 15.4 to Xcode 16.4, the popup doesn't appear; it says in the debug window: nw_browser_fail_on_dns_error_locked [B1] nw_browser_dns_service_browse_callback failed: PolicyDenied(18,446,744,073,709,486,046) I do have the info.plist keys Privacy-Local Network Usage Description (NSLocalNetworkUsageDescription) and Bonjour Services (NSBonjourServices) so it's not that. Also, It still works on a real device. I think something changed with Xcode 16 that tightened the security on a simulator, or maybe disabled Network framework entirely. It's not the firewall on my computer because that is turned off. I'm using an M1 MacBook Pro.

New developer question - exporting Apple Watch data to central server
This is probably a basic question but I wanted to ask your advice for the best way to take consenting users' Watch data from Apple Health Kit and send it to our central server? One idea we had was to create an iOS app that gets the data from Apple's Health SDK on the phone and sends it to our server. Would appreciate any help here, thank you.

Networking Multicast Permission Issue on iPadOS 18.1 with Xamarin App
I have been using networking multicast permissions in my Xamarin application for UDP device discovery, and it has been working reliably for years. However, I am now encountering an issue specific to iPadOS 18.1 (potentially also iPadOS 18, though I haven’t tested this). The issue is that my app no longer requests the required network permission on devices running iPadOS 18.1. On the other hand, the app works perfectly on iPhone and iPadOS 17.7 without any problems. Has there been any change in the networking or permissions framework in iPadOS 18.1 that could cause this behavior? I would appreciate any guidance or insights to resolve this issue. Socket Becomes Unresponsive in Local Connectivity Extension After Lock Screen
I’m developing an app designed for hospital environments, where public internet access may not be available. The app includes two components: the main app and a Local Connectivity Extension. Both rely on persistent TCP socket connections to communicate with a local server. We’re observing a recurring issue where the extension’s socket becomes unresponsive every 1–3 hours, but only when the device is on the lock screen, even if the main app remains in the foreground. When the screen is not locked, the connection is stable and no disconnections occur. ❗ Issue Details: • What’s going on: The extension sends a keep-alive ping packet every second, and the server replies with a pong and a system time packet. • The bug: The server stops receiving keep alive packets from the extension.  • On the server, we detect about 30 second gap on the server, a gap that shows no packets were received by the extension. This was confirmed via server logs and Wireshark).  • On the extension, from our logs there was no gap in sending packets. From it’s perspective, all packets were sent with no error.  • Because no packet are being received by the server, no packets will be sent to the extension. Eventually the server closes the connection due to keep-alive timeout.  • FYI we log when the NEAppPushProvider subclass sleeps and it did NOT go to sleep while we were debugging. 🧾 Example Logs: Extension log: 2025-03-24 18:34:48.808 sendKeepAliveRequest() 2025-03-24 18:34:49.717 sendKeepAliveRequest() 2025-03-24 18:34:50.692 sendKeepAliveRequest() ... // continuous sending of the ping packet to the server, no problems here 2025-03-24 18:35:55.063 sendKeepAliveRequest() 2025-03-24 18:35:55.063 keepAliveTimer IS TIME OUT... in CoreService. // this is triggered because we did not receive any packets from the server 2025-03-24 18:34:16.298 No keep-alive received for 16 seconds... connection ID=95b3... // this shows that there has been no packets being received by the extension ... 2025-03-24 18:34:30.298 Connection timed out on keep-alive. connection ID=95b3... // eventually closes due to no packets being received 2025-03-24 18:34:30.298 Remote Subsystem Disconnected {name=iPhone|Replica-Ext|...} ✅ Observations: • The extension process continues running and logging keep-alive attempts. • However, network traffic stops reaching the server, and no inbound packets are received by the extension. • It looks like the socket becomes silently suspended or frozen, without being properly closed or throwing an error. ❓Questions: • Do you know why this might happen within a Local Connectivity Extension, especially under foreground conditions and locked ? • Is there any known system behavior that might cause the socket to be suspended or blocked in this way after running for a few hours? Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Fetching strategies - best practice? ETag, last modified - fetch all?
I am developing an Xcode app with a job feed, with profile view, with chat eg. I fetch using federatet queries to my microservices thru Apollo Router. Infront of the Apollo Router i Have a Kong that adds a X user ID, that the microservices use for personalized feed and other user info. The info is stored with SwiftData. My thought is that i should add a better way of controlling when i need to fetch. I have a “lastupdateAPI” with different entities (profile, profile picture eg). So when nothing has changed we do not fetch. But rather then using a own API for this, isnt ETag better? Or is it any other recommendations with Xcode Swiftui. Good strategies for not fetching what i already have?

URLSession not working on iOS26/Xcode26
Hi, I’m trying out my app with Xcode 26, running on an iOS 26 simulator. I'm having issues with URLSessions, it crashes when I set the URLSessionConfiguration to default, and if I don’t use the URLSessionConfiguration, it crashes if I use URLSession.shared. When running in a real device, it doesn't crash, but any network request will hang and time out after a while. Is it a known issue in the latest beta versions?

Getting connection settings from method handleNewUDPFlow
I'm using NETransparentProxyProvider to intercept udp sockets using the method handleNewUDPFlow. An application may create a UDP socket and set the DONTFRAG using setsockopt method setsockopt(s, IPPROTO_IP, IP_DONTFRAG, &val, sizeof(val)) In this case, do I have option in this case, to get the connection settings inside the callback (void)handleNewUDPFlow:(NEAppProxyUDPFlow *)flow initialRemoteEndpoint:(NWEndpoint *)remoteEndpoint; So in this case, I would be able to create the outgoing socket with the exact same characteristics, after the original app socket got intercepted by my proxy provider ?
