I am using push notification in my app. User token gets properly registered and is sent to server. Notification are also sent by server and recieved on device as expected. The problem occurs when user uninstalls the app. iOS does not provide any option to handle uninstall event. On top of that when server send notification to such device token APNS feedback service sends success message. Meaning APNS sends push notifications to uninstalled app.I have an API to unregister the device on server since no event is triggered I am unable to call it.Please suggest a way out.

I have an app that pairs with a wearable Bluetooth device that collects users' health data. My web backend sends two push notifications every hour to all app users—one at XX:05 and another at XX:15. The first notification instructs the app to download data from the paired wearable device, while the second prompts the app to upload the downloaded data to the backend server's database.
However, I’ve noticed that many push notifications are not processed by iOS apps, especially at night. Based on Apple's documentation, iOS prioritizes push notifications and may ignore lower-priority ones to conserve battery life.
Is there a way to increase the priority to ensure that more (or all) push notifications are processed?
Would integrating the HealthKit framework help? Currently, I use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to send push notifications. Additionally, my app falls under the Health & Fitness category. Would changing it to Medical increase priority? P.S. I understand that Apple requires certain certifications for an app to be classified as Medical.

We are attempting to update our app to use the PTT framework, as it has been made clear that this will be required in a future iOS version as opposed to using the Unrestricted VoIP entitlement we are using for several features of our app.
However, the behavior of this framework poses some problems with implementing our app's functionality:
It is not possible to programmatically join a channel when the app is not in the foreground. This hinders our ability to implement the Automatically activate radio stream feature of our app, which allows users who have opted into this feature to immediately begin hearing live PTT audio from their agency following an incident alert. Having the app constantly "joined to a channel" and using the restoration delegate could potentially work, however this is not ideal as this would result in the PTT UI needing to be displayed at all times, even when no radio stream is activated.
We have a "Text to Speech" option that, when enabled, reads out the content of an incident alert after the alert sound has played. This currently happens by triggering an AVSpeechSynthesizer in the PushKit incoming push callback. It may be possible to render TTS audio on the fly in a Notification Service Extension and assign it as the notification's sound, if that is possible this is less of a problem.
We also use the PushKit callback to, again if the user has enabled it, activate a "Shake to Respond" feature, allowing a short period of time after receiving an incident alert in which the user can shake their device to indicate that they are responding to the incident. There does not appear to be any way to have the level of background execution required to implement this using an NSE, and this is of course beyond the scope of the PTT framework.
What options do we have to be able to continue to provide this functionality, without risk of it being disabled in a future iOS version?
We're experiencing an issue with Apple Push Notification service where APNs continues to return 200 OK responses for device tokens belonging to uninstalled applications.

According to documentation(https://developer.apple.com/documentation/usernotifications/handling-notification-responses-from-apns), APNs should return 410 status code with JSON body for invalid tokens
Expected Behavior:
APNs should return 410 status code when device token is no longer valid (app uninstalled)

The APP was not awakened by system after start a liveactivity and the liveactivity has showed on lock screen.so the updatetoken wont send to our inner server and the liveactivity can not update,often like this,but sometimes it can work.

I am developing a CarPlay driving tasks app and is able to display push notifications on CarPlay. I am looking at a way to get a tap action handler for push notifications on CarPlay such that when a user taps the notification and by default the app opens, but I want to present a CPInformationTemplate with data corresponding to the tapped notification.

I am working on a project that involves using external device to connect over BLE with users iPhone. I would like to be able to notify users on our device about eg. incoming calls, messages etc. I have been succesfull in using ANCS to achieve that but I am a little worried around consistency of this solution, especially taking into account following line from documentation:
Due to the nature of iOS, the ANCS is not guaranteed to always be present. As a result, the NC should look for and subscribe to the Service Changed characteristic of the GATT service in order to monitor for the potential publishing and unpublishing of the ANCS at any time.
I have not been able (yet?) to find or identify circumstances when ANCS would not be avilable or would be "removed in runtime", hence would it be possible to request some guidance and clarification on the conditions when ANCS can be unavailable or removed?

iOS push notification is not working for in App since 03-Apr-2025. We are pushing the message to APNS from our application, but message is not delivered to iOS device.
We have performed tests on both PROD and QA environment and following are the observations:
PROD
successfully pushing the notification to APNS but not receiving the notification on iOS device (100% failure).
QA
received notification on iOS device always (100% success).
Analyzed PROD notification server log at our end and we do not observe any error and it is showing successful also when message is pushed to APNS all the time. Need to check from APNS why push messages are not delivered to iOS devices.
Validated the PROD APNS certificate at our end which we are using during call to APNS - it is valid till Oct 2025.
Please suggest me any possible solution because I don't have any clue where it is failing and what to do

I want to update my lockscreen LiveActivity via Broadcast Push Notification, but updating always fails - but ending always works.
Payload with "update" is completely ignored:

Via the MacOS Console I am able to see that both events happen to end up on the device. I am sending these Broadcast Push Notifications via Apple's Push Notifications Console.

We’re implementing in-app subscriptions in our iOS app using App Store Server Notifications V2 in the production environment.
Everything is generally working well — we receive notifications such as DID_CHANGE_RENEWAL_STATUS, CANCELLATION, etc., and we log all incoming notifications into our own database.
However, we've encountered a single case where the INITIAL_BUY notification was not received for a specific user.
Interestingly, we did receive the later notifications (DID_CHANGE_RENEWAL_STATUS and CANCELLATION) for that same user.
Here is our setup:
App Store Server Notifications V2
Notification endpoint is stable and functioning normally (receives and logs other notifications)
Notifications are reliably stored in our database
The issue occurred only once for one user
Environment: Production
We've already contacted Apple Developer Support, but were informed that this issue is out of scope for direct support, and were directed to the Developer Forums.
Our questions:
Under what conditions might the INITIAL_BUY notification fail to be sent or delivered?
Is there any known behavior or scenario where Apple may skip the INITIAL_BUY notification?
Any recommendations on how to further investigate or verify whether it was sent from Apple’s side?
We’ve confirmed that the notification never hit our server (no logs, no DB record), and our system was healthy at the time.

I am sending push notification using HTTP/2 to https://api.push.apple.com:443 api but I am getting Operation TimeOut error in response . Can someone help

When our app calls the APNs API for push notifications, we observed significant fluctuations:
July 15-25: The success response volume increased by 20% compared to the baseline before July 15.
After July 25: Success rates returned to baseline levels.
July 30: Success response volume decreased by 10% compared to the pre-July 15 baseline.
Excluded Factors:
No changes in target audience size or characteristics (business factors ruled out).
Server logs confirm consistent API request parameters and frequency.
Key Questions:
Were there any adjustments to response metrics (e.g., success status code definitions) during this period?
Have other developers reported similar issues?
Were there server-side configuration updates or known incidents on Apple’s end?

This error has been continuously occurring for about 9 hours. We have not replaced the certificate, modified the server code, or changed the firewall policy. Some requests succeed, but many are timing out, with several timeouts occurring every minute. We are unable to find the cause. Please help.

I created an app. One if its functionalities is receive Remote Notification in the background, while app is monitoring Significant Location Changes (SLC). This functionality worked fine. I was receiving these notifications correctly. Sometimes instantly, sometime with small or large delay.
And then I send the app for review. It was rejected with 3 remarks:
The app or metadata includes information about third-party platforms that may not be relevant for App Store users, who are focused on experiences offered by the app itself (I wrote that app communication works both for iOS and Android.)
The app declares support for audio in the UIBackgroundModes key in your Info.plist but we are unable to locate any features that require persistent audio.
EULA (End User License Agreement) is missing for in-app purchases.
After the rejection the app is no longer receiving these notifications. They are there, since the app receives them, when I open app, or significant location change is detected. It also works, when I run the app directly from Xcode (in debug mode), not from TestFlight nor in Sandbox.
It seem to me like Apple somehow spoiled my background capabilities on purpose or accidentally. Is it possible? What can I do with it? Is it the case that I should just fix the review remarks and send the app back to review, and once the app passes it, it will work again? Or should I not count on it? Any suggestions? We are in the process of transferring our app to a new Apple Developer Organization account. Our app uses the Apple Push Notification service (APNs) with a .p8 authentication key configured on our server to send push notifications.
We would like to confirm:
Once the app transfer is completed, will push notifications continue to work temporarily using the existing .p8 key on our server, until we generate and configure a new .p8 key under the new organization's account?
Understanding this behavior is critical for us to ensure a smooth transition and avoid any disruption in push notification delivery for our users.

I have my app configured as a Driving Task app with the entitlement and provisioning profile correctly set up. I am also requesting the ".carPlay" notification authorization option and setting up the carplay notification category with the ".allowInCarPlay" category, both without error.
When testing with the iPhone and carplay simulators the user notifications I send are appearing on the phone but not in carplay.
When I check the notification settings with UNUserNotificationCenter.current().getNotificationSettings() I see that carplay is shown to be not supported ("carPlaySetting: NotSupported").
The CarPlay Developer Guide 2025-06-09 (which is the version currently referenced in the Apple docs) states that "Starting in iOS 18.4, notifications are also supported in CarPlay driving task apps".
Has this discrepancy been addressed anywhere, or is this an open issue?

We are observing an issue where the iOS Notification Service Extension (NSE) is terminated by the system during startup, before either didReceive(_:withContentHandler:) or serviceExtensionTimeWillExpire(_:) is invoked. When this occurs, the notification is delivered without modification (for example, an encrypted payload is shown to the user). System logs frequently contain the message “Extension will be killed because it used its runtime in starting up”.
During testing, we observed that CPU-intensive operations or heavy initialization performed early in the extension lifecycle — especially inside init() or directly on the main thread in didReceive often cause the system to kill the NSE almost immediately. These terminations happen significantly earlier than the commonly observed ~30-second execution window where the OS normally invokes serviceExtensionTimeWillExpire(_:) before ending the extension. When these early terminations occur, there is no call to the expiry handler, and the process appears to be forcefully shut down.
Moving the same operations to a background thread changes the behavior: the extension eventually expires around the usual 30-second window, after which the OS calls serviceExtensionTimeWillExpire(_:).
We also observed that memory usage plays a role in early termination. During tests involving large memory allocations, the system consistently killed the extension
once memory consumption exceeded a certain threshold (in our measurements, this occurred around 150–180 MB). Again, unlike normal time-based expiration, the system did not call the expiry handler and no crash report was produced.
Since Apple’s documentation does not specify concrete CPU, memory, or startup-cost constraints for Notification Service Extensions or any other extensions beyond the general execution limit, we are seeking clarification and best-practice guidance on expected behaviors, particularly around initialization cost and the differences between startup termination.

In iOS 26, I can check the notification that arrives to the user when the AirPods or Apple Watch is fully charged. When tap the notification, notification only expands and does not include actions such as moving to an app.
I checked the documents of UserNotification and UNNotificationServiceExtension, but I couldn't find what I wanted.
I can expand by long-tapping as default, but I'm looking for a way to expand it without entering the app when I tap the notification.
I wonder if there is an API that I missed or if it's not publicly supported.

We are developing an app that receives push notifications (via Firebase) from configured IoT devices. It is essential that when a specific type of notification is received, a sound is played continuously until the user interacts with the notification.
This behavior is crucial for alerting users to certain critical states of the IoT device.
We understand that Critical Alerts on iOS can bypass Do Not Disturb and silent mode. However, from our testing and available documentation, the sound from a Critical Alert seems to be limited to around 30 seconds.
Our question:
Is it possible on iOS to have a Critical Alert (or any other type of notification) continue playing sound until the user interacts with the notification or app? If so, could someone please point us to the appropriate documentation or APIs?
