Is Picture in Picture supported for WebRTC / WebView video on iOS (outside app)?
Hello, I am implementing video calling on iOS and need to support Picture in Picture (PiP) behavior similar to FaceTime or WhatsApp. What works Audio continues correctly in background CallKit UI works as expected Video works correctly while the app is in the foreground What I’m trying to achieve When the user presses the Home button or switches apps, I want to show a system Picture in Picture window (floating video outside the app). Current setup Video is rendered via WebRTC The video is displayed inside a WKWebView (HTML / JavaScript) PiP works only while the app is foregrounded When the app backgrounds, the video disappears (only audio remains) Questions Does iOS support system Picture in Picture for: WebRTC video WKWebView / HTML video 2 Is AVPictureInPictureController limited only to: AVPlayerLayer AVSampleBufferDisplayLayer 3 If PiP requires native rendering: Is it mandatory to render WebRTC frames natively using AVSampleBufferDisplayLayer? Is PiP explicitly unsupported for WebView / HTML video? 📌 Clarification Apps like FaceTime and WhatsApp are able to show PiP outside the app. I want to understand whether this behavior is achievable only with native video pipelines, or if WebView-based video is fundamentally restricted by iOS. Public API to Open Safari Settings in iOS Browser
Dear Apple Developer Support, I’m developing a Chromium-based iOS browser and want to open the Safari settings page (Settings → Apps→ Safari) like Chrome’s “Import data from Safari” feature, where clicking “Go to settings” opens the Safari settings page. To reproduce this behavior in Chrome: 1.In Chrome, search “Import password from Safari.” 2.Restart Chrome. 3.Go to Chrome → Settings → Safari import → Import to Chrome → Go to settings. 4.You will see it opens Settings → Apps → Safari. Please see the attached file for steps to trigger this feature in Chrome. My attempt with App-Prefs:root=SAFARI only opens the Settings main page ,Is there a public API to open the Safari settings page directly? Look forward to your reply,many thanks

Universal Links not opening my app.
My app has been published by 2 months now I still I cant get Universal Links to work. I checked a lot of docs as well as videos about setting up universal links. Everyone with clear steps: Add the well-known json file to the server. Already validated by AASA web validator. Add the Associated domain on project capabilities, with the Web page root only. Eg: applinks:example:com. Install the app and trying clicking a link from notepad. Or instead make a long press to deploy contextual menu to see if my app is on the selectable options to open the link. My app is not been open in any of my attempts and the console always trying to use safari. I had a couple of screenshots of my testing. I really need help with this.

Getting started with PHP ..
I am new to PHP. I have developed my own web site with a lot of javascript in simple HTML files. I want to do some extensions with PHP but I can't make a simple web page function. I am sure something simple is wrong. Help! Here is the test web page I made: hello.html <html>  <head>   <title>Hello World</title>  </head>  <body>   <?php echo 'Hello World!'; ?>  </body> </html> Pointing Safari at hello.html gives me a new tab with the correct title, but no "Hello World" in the page itself. Safari Web Extension: This extension can read ... including passwords...
I want to migrate from a Safari App Extension to a Safari Web Extension, but don't know how to get rid of the message, telling users that my extension can access their passwords. Is the branded email feature available in France? What is the timeline?
Hello, I followed the instructions to set up a custom logo for our domain name Allogarage.fr, both for the brand and the domain. Everything appears to be correctly configured in Apple Business backend for several weeks now, but the logo still doesn’t show up in Mail. Is the branded email feature available in France? Are there any additional steps required?

I have a question about Safari running in the background on iOS and iPadOS.
I coded two demo websites as follows (both written in NextJS): Website 1: I coded an interval counter that increments every 1 second. Website 2: I used the MediaRecorder API (described in the WebKit documentation: https://webkit.org/blog/11353/mediarecorder-api/). In the ondataavailable function, I periodically send a blob (once every 1 second) to my server. In the backend, I coded a POST API to upload this blob. I noticed that with website 1, the interval doesn't work when I run Safari in the background, even on iOS and iPadOS. However, website 2 works, meaning it still calls my API normally (I tried running Safari in the background for about 1-2 hours and it worked). So, does this mean Apple allows native APIs like MediaRecorder and its callbacks to run in the background?

Issue with Copy Functionality in WKWebView Using Mac Catalyst
Hello, I am developing a Mac application via Mac Catalyst and encountering an issue with WKWebView. Specifically, I'm loading a webpage (e.g., https://translate.google.com) in WKWebView, but when I press the copy button on the page, the content doesn't actually copy to the clipboard. I've attempted modifying the UserAgent without any success. Repeated Camera Permission Prompts in Web App on Safari (iOS)
Hi everyone, We're building a web application using Next.js that captures around 40 images across different routes as part of a guided user flow. At the beginning of the process, we explicitly request camera permission using navigator.mediaDevices.getUserMedia(...), and the user grants it successfully. However, as users proceed through the flow (navigating between routes), Safari on iOS intermittently re-prompts for camera access—despite the initial permission already being granted and the origin (domain) remaining unchanged. This repeated prompting interrupts the user experience significantly. What we’ve tried: Ensuring camera access is requested only once and reused where possible. Using persistent media stream across routes (where feasible). Testing across different iOS versions to confirm consistency. Questions: Is there a known workaround or best practice to persist camera access across route transitions in a SPA/PWA context on iOS? Are there any Safari-specific behaviors or restrictions related to WebRTC / getUserMedia we should be aware of? Would embedding the camera view in an iframe or maintaining a persistent component help avoid re-prompting? Any guidance or shared experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Safari drag multi-tasking gesture not working for Safari on iPad Pro M1
Bit of an odd one here, just keen to understand if it’s just me or a more generic issue. For all other apps, I can drag the icon from the dock to place into stage manager left, centre or right. However when I try to do the same with Safari (and only Safari), it just doesn’t work at all. I can repeat this 100%, has been an issue with 26.0, 26.1 and now 26.2. iOS 18 Safari and WKWebview, "NotSupportedError" issue when playing videos
WKWebview of iOS 18 includes Safari browser. When playing videos, some videos show "NotSupportedError: The operation is not supported.", but it is normal on iOS15 devices. The video link is as follows. WKWebView + Cookie
Description: In our app, we have login page which displayed in WKWebView. In that page, there is an Remember my Device cookie option which user can select, so next time it OTP page will not be displayed. Problem Statement: Recently we found that some issue happened with this cookie. Especially, when users upgraded their OS versions to 18.6 or 26.1 or 26.2. Need to understand, any changes related to Cookie part in latest OS Versions?

PAC ( Automatic Proxy Configuration ) Script Not working with Safari MacOS version 15.1
We have written a PAC script that blocklists certain domains and whitelists others. We went to Settings > Network > Wi-Fi (the network we are using), then clicked on Details, and under Proxies, we added the PAC file URL in the Automatic Proxy Configuration section. We tried hosting the PAC file both on localhost and on a separate HTTP server. After saving the settings, we tested several URLs. The blocking and allowing behavior works correctly in all browsers except Safari. Below is the PAC script we are using for your reference. The script works as expected in browsers other than Safari. [iOS 26 Beta] event.target.value is always empty — only from specific script domains
Hey everyone, After installing iOS 26 beta, I started noticing unexpected behavior in our input event handlers. Specifically, when users type into an field, event.target.value is always an empty string — but only when the JS file is loaded from a specific domain (e.g., t1.daumcdn.net). The exact same code works perfectly when hosted on other domains like t2.daumcdn.net or search1.daumcdn.net. 👉 I created a demo here: 🔗 CodePen Demo The scripts loaded from each domain are 100% identical (apart from the top-level selector). Before iOS 26 beta, this worked fine. I suspect this is related to ITP or some new cross-origin behavior in Safari, but I’d love to know if anyone else is running into this — or if someone knows a workaround. Thanks!

Details of SFExtensionProfileKey?
Hi, I’m working with the SFExtensionProfileKey in my Safari Web Extension. As I understand it, this key is to get the UUID of the profile currently in use. However, it seems to be missing (no key in userInfo) when the default profile is active. Also, I haven’t found any API to get a profile’s human-readable name or list all available profiles. Could someone clarify: If the value of SFExtensionProfileKey is absent, can I safely assume the default profile is in use? Is there a supported way to get a profile’s display name? Does Safari expose an API for getting all profiles? Thanks in advance for your insights!

After iOS 18.4, files are called multiple times in WKWebView
Since the transition to iOS 18.4, we have been having an issue where when loading an m3u8 file specified in the src attribute of a video tag in WKWebView, the ts file is loaded repeatedly. Are there any good ideas for this? Also, if there have been any changes to the specifications of WKWebView, we would appreciate it if you could let us know.

Repeated Camera Permission Prompts in Web App on Safari (iOS)
Hi everyone, We're building a web application using Next.js that captures around 40 images across different routes as part of a guided user flow. At the beginning of the process, we explicitly request camera permission using navigator.mediaDevices.getUserMedia(...), and the user grants it successfully. However, as users proceed through the flow (navigating between routes), Safari on iOS intermittently re-prompts for camera access—despite the initial permission already being granted and the origin (domain) remaining unchanged. This repeated prompting interrupts the user experience significantly. What we’ve tried: Ensuring camera access is requested only once and reused where possible. Using persistent media stream across routes (where feasible). Testing across different iOS versions to confirm consistency. Questions: Is there a known workaround or best practice to persist camera access across route transitions in a SPA/PWA context on iOS? Are there any Safari-specific behaviors or restrictions related to WebRTC / getUserMedia we should be aware of? Would embedding the camera view in an iframe or maintaining a persistent component help avoid re-prompting? Any guidance or shared experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Safari drag multi-tasking gesture not working for Safari on iPad Pro M1
Bit of an odd one here, just keen to understand if it’s just me or a more generic issue. For all other apps, I can drag the icon from the dock to place into stage manager left, centre or right. However when I try to do the same with Safari (and only Safari), it just doesn’t work at all. I can repeat this 100%, has been an issue with 26.0, 26.1 and now 26.2. iOS 18 Safari and WKWebview, "NotSupportedError" issue when playing videos
WKWebview of iOS 18 includes Safari browser. When playing videos, some videos show "NotSupportedError: The operation is not supported.", but it is normal on iOS15 devices. WKWebView + Cookie
Description: In our app, we have login page which displayed in WKWebView. In that page, there is an Remember my Device cookie option which user can select, so next time it OTP page will not be displayed. Problem Statement: Recently we found that some issue happened with this cookie. Especially, when users upgraded their OS versions to 18.6 or 26.1 or 26.2. Need to understand, any changes related to Cookie part in latest OS Versions?

PAC ( Automatic Proxy Configuration ) Script Not working with Safari MacOS version 15.1
We have written a PAC script that blocklists certain domains and whitelists others. We went to Settings > Network > Wi-Fi (the network we are using), then clicked on Details, and under Proxies, we added the PAC file URL in the Automatic Proxy Configuration section. We tried hosting the PAC file both on localhost and on a separate HTTP server. After saving the settings, we tested several URLs. The blocking and allowing behavior works correctly in all browsers except Safari. Below is the PAC script we are using for your reference. The script works as expected in browsers other than Safari. [iOS 26 Beta] event.target.value is always empty — only from specific script domains
Hey everyone, After installing iOS 26 beta, I started noticing unexpected behavior in our input event handlers. Specifically, when users type into an field, event.target.value is always an empty string — but only when the JS file is loaded from a specific domain (e.g., t1.daumcdn.net). The exact same code works perfectly when hosted on other domains like t2.daumcdn.net or search1.daumcdn.net. 👉 I created a demo here: 🔗 CodePen Demo The scripts loaded from each domain are 100% identical (apart from the top-level selector). Before iOS 26 beta, this worked fine. Details of SFExtensionProfileKey?
Hi, I’m working with the SFExtensionProfileKey in my Safari Web Extension. As I understand it, this key is to get the UUID of the profile currently in use. However, it seems to be missing (no key in userInfo) when the default profile is active. Also, I haven’t found any API to get a profile’s human-readable name or list all available profiles. Could someone clarify: If the value of SFExtensionProfileKey is absent, can I safely assume the default profile is in use? Is there a supported way to get a profile’s display name? Does Safari expose an API for getting all profiles? Thanks in advance for your insights!

After iOS 18.4, files are called multiple times in WKWebView
Since the transition to iOS 18.4, we have been having an issue where when loading an m3u8 file specified in the src attribute of a video tag in WKWebView, the ts file is loaded repeatedly.
