WKWebView: Fullscreen API very unreliable on iPadOS 18.x
Since iPadOS 18.x WKWebView seems to have a bug within its Fullscreen API (which can be enabled via WKPreferences.isElementFullscreenEnabled). This bug has the effect that websites trying to make an element (for example a video player) fullscreen fail to do so. This does not always happen, most of the time the fullscreen mode does work fine, but sometimes (far too often to be ignored) it does not. If an instance of WKWebView shows this issue, it can not be "fixed" by reloading the page or loading other pages, this issue exists in this instance forever. My App is a web browser App so I can create and remove WKWebView instance easily (by opening or closing Tabs). And there are times where I never see this bug, and times where ever other tab shows this bug. It's totally unreliable. The App does not show any issues at all when running under iPadOS 17 or older. The issue is only present under iPadOS 18.x. After some testing I've found out that when the bug has affected an instance of WKWebView, the JavaScript call element.requestFullscreen() will work if the element is a video element, but does no longer work if it is another element (like a DIV). If an instance of WKWebView is not affected by this bug, element.requestFullscreen() will work for all HTML elements. Does anyone has experienced this bug as well? And maybe found a workaround? Or maybe found a pattern which helps to find out what exactly is triggering this bug?

Web inspector only works with HTTPS contexts in iOS simulator
Up until some point relatively recently, I have been able to use Safari's web inspector to connect to the iOS simulator in order to debug our web application in development at http://localhost:8088. Now, the web inspector still OPENS, but it opens in a broken state. The context is available to select from Safari's "Develop" menu: Develop > "iPhone 16 Pro (Simulator)" > "localhost - login". It appears under the Safari heading if I have navigated to the web app in the browser, or under the Expo heading if I am accessing it through the webview in our React Native wrapper app. When I select it, the web inspector window does appear. However, once it opens, the Elements pane is empty, the Console pane is empty, expressions entered into the console are not evaluated, there's no content in Sources, Network, Storage, etc. Important notes: This broken state happens at http://localhost:8088 as well as http://127.0.0.1:8088, and it seems that the insecure context is the issue. The web inspector DOES work for HTTPS sites. If I navigate to, e.g., https://example.com in the simulator and connect the web inspector, everything works fine. The web inspector also works fine in Safari on macOS (OUTSIDE the simulator) when accessing non-HTTPS sites. It's only a problem for non-HTTPS sites when connecting to the simulator. A coworker has the same problem, so it is not isolated to my machine. I would enable TLS locally as a workaround, but this web app is very complex, and I know from experience that it is very difficult for various reasons to set it up properly for our project in development, and it will take significant non-trivial work to do so. So... Why is this happening? Is this expected behavior? Is there a way that I can debug my site on localhost without HTTPS?

iOS 18.2 Can't open X-Callback-URL from Safari Extension
I have a Safari Extension which replaces default new tab and puts a link on a generated new tab. This link can be either usual URL link, or a URL Scheme, something like plecoapi://x-callback-url/df?hw=${char}&sec=dict In iOS 17 and previosly, this link worked flawlessly. In iOS 18, including 18.2, this X-Callback-URL link works only once, if I kill Safari process, reopen Safari and tap the link. Each subsequent tap will just reload the page, link won't work anymore until the next Safari reload. Usual URL links works every time without a problem.

Issue with Safari v18.2: Extension Prevents Video Playback When Inspecting
I am a developer working on a Safari extension that handles video playback, and I’ve encountered an issue with Safari version 18.2. When I open the developer tools to inspect the browser, videos fail to play as expected. It worked well on safari version 18.1. Details: Safari Version: 18.2 Operating System: macOS Sequoia v15.2 Additional Information: I’ve tested the extension with various video formats and sites. Clearing the cache and disabling other extensions did not resolve the issue. There are no error messages displayed in the console related to the extension. If I close inspecting, then extension(video playback) works well. I would appreciate any insights or suggestions on how to address this issue, as it impacts the functionality of my extension. Thank you for your help!

Differences between Safari App extension and Safari Web extension.
I tried to create a content blocker for Safari and did it through Safari App Extension and Safari Web Extension. The XCode project for Safari Extension creates 2 applications: the “Main Application” (which is compiled into ".app") and the “Safari Extension” itself (which is compiled into ".appex"). If you want to create a content blocker, you must add “Content Blocker Extension” from the “File → New → Target” menu. This will be the third application in the group, which is also compiled into "*.appex". And now about differences... The first difference is that Web Extension does not have the right to work on any domains by default, unlike App Extension. For the App Extension, in the "info.plist" in the "SFSafariWebsiteAccess" section, we can remove "Allowed Domains" and in "Level" replace "Some" to "All". This is important because the content blocker should work on any domain, and not be turned on manually for each individual. This will not work in Web Extension and will have to be activated for each domain separately. The second significant difference between Web Extension and App Extension is that for security reasons it is more limited in page management. Web Extensions are supposedly focused on a common API for all browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Edge, Safari), but if I use Safari and want maximum integration with it, then I don't care about all those browsers. In this case, I don't need Web Extension. App Extension functions as a client-server even within the “Main Application”. This is quite expensive and can be fixed. You can remove the “webView” component from storyBoard and remove this files: “script.js”, “main.html”, “style.css”. After this you will get the pure storyBoard without any tinsel and communication between these layers. That’s will work perfectly because these are native Swift applications. p.s. To show the "Safari Extension" window after clicking on the icon on the toolbar, you need to change key from "Command" to "Popover" in the "info.plist" in the section "SFSafariToolbarItem" in the "Action". write your additions...

Getting started with PHP ..
I am new to PHP. I have developed my own web site with a lot of javascript in simple HTML files. I want to do some extensions with PHP but I can't make a simple web page function. I am sure something simple is wrong. Help! Here is the test web page I made: hello.html <html>  <head>   <title>Hello World</title>  </head>  <body>   <?php echo 'Hello World!'; ?>  </body> </html> Pointing Safari at hello.html gives me a new tab with the correct title, but no "Hello World" in the page itself. Here is the output of php --version: WARNING: PHP is not recommended PHP is included in macOS for compatibility with legacy software. Future versions of macOS will not include PHP. WKWebView isBlockedByScreenTime
WKWebView has a new property "isBlockedByScreenTime" since iOS 26. But I do not yet understand when exactly this property could be used. When I setup content-based restrictions in the ScreenTime settings then WKWebView reports an error 105 via "webView:didFailProvisionalNavigation:" delegate. The isBlockedByScreenTime property still returns false in this case. If ScreenTime has a time-based limit, the App would not run at all. Under which circumstances would the property "isBlockedByScreenTime" return the value true? When exactly and for what can this property be actually used? The "problem" is that I want to find if a web page is blocked and can not be loaded, why this is the case. By simply trial and error I found out that WKWebView returns error codes 104 and 105 for blocked web sites because of content filters and Screen Time restrictions, however these error codes are not documented at all (at least I've not found any documentation or documentation for these error codes and also some other codes like 100, 102, 204 etc), so I'm not really sure if I handle all cases correctly. I hoped that isBlockedByScreenTime would at least tell me one reason for blocked pages. If there are documents which explain these error codes (100 and above), where I can find these?

Apple Pay button not appearing
On an older iPhone I'm testing with (6s, iOS 12.5.7), connected to the same Sandbox Apple ID that I'm using on multiple other devices, the Apple Pay button is not appearing. Neither on my web application, whatever version I set in the PaymentRequest, nor on the official demo site. Further, 2 sandbox cards that were added fine to these other devices are failing to add on this one. Same cards and CVV codes are getting errors. At least "Invalid Card" on one of them. Although the other failed several times, then just worked this time when I tried it again  But on this phone, I have two cards successfully added, so the button should be appearing. On the demo site, whether I select Apple Pay JS API or Payment Request API, the button does not appear.

Suspected safari memory leak for new os ver 26
Hi, this is my first post in the community, so please correct me if i am posting this somewhat in a wrong manner. Im using my Apple M1 Pro(14inch, 2021) and installed the os 26 yesterday. Today, I was using Safari, and all of sudden it gets frozen, then the following window popped up. Is this something expected? i.e. my usage is somewhat unusual or is there any report around potential memory leak in Safari? appreciate any suggestions, as Safari is my main browser and currently on hold due to this issue. Thanks

Safari Extension Not Appearing or Disappearing Intermittently on iPad (iOS 18.3)
I’m encountering an issue with a Safari extension bundled with our main application (F-Secure). The extension is not appearing consistently in Safari settings on a customer’s iPad running iOS 18.3. Below are the details of the issue: Issue Description The Safari extension is bundled with the main app (F-Secure). After installing the app, the extension should automatically appear in Settings > Safari > Extensions, where the user can enable it. On the customer’s iPad, the extension is missing from the Safari settings. It briefly appeared once but then disappeared again.

WKNavigationDelegate methods not getting called even though
Hi everyone, We work on a macOS plugin which then gets loaded into another application. I'm trying to load a webpage in that application through our plugin using a WKWebView & I set my class as the navigationDelegate for the same. I do not receive any callbacks for the WKNavigationDelegate methods. I have debugged & made sure that the navigationDelegate is actually set to my class. Here is a sample code of what I'm doing : [[NSApplication sharedApplication] runModalForWindow:self.mWindowController.window]; - (void)windowDidLoad { [super windowDidLoad]; [self.window makeKeyAndOrderFront:self]; [self.window orderFrontRegardless]; if (self.mLoadingView == nil) { self.mLoadingView = [[LoadingView alloc] initWithFrame:[[self.window contentView] frame]]; } [[self.window contentView] addSubview:self.mLoadingView]; [self.mLoadingView showLoadingView]; [self.window setLevel:NSMainMenuWindowLevel]; [self loadWebPage]; } -(void)loadWebPage { [self.mWKWebView setUIDelegate:self]; [self.mWKWebView setNavigationDelegate:self]; [self.mWKWebView stopLoading]; NSURL *lURL = [self samplePageURL]; WKNavigation *lNavigation = [self.mWKWebView loadRequest:[NSURLRequest requestWithURL:lURL]]; } - (void)webView:(WKWebView *)pWKWebView didFinishNavigation:(WKNavigation *)pNavigation { [self removeLoadingview]; [self.mWKWebView evaluateJavaScript:@"document.body.setAttribute('oncontextmenu', 'event.preventDefault();');" completionHandler:nil]; } I do not get any calls in the webView:didFinishNavigation: & I also tried other methods like webView:didStartProvisionalNavigation, webView:didFailProvisionalNavigation:withError: etc but did not receive any call in those either. Instead of runModalForWindow: if I use showWindow: on the mWindowController the webpage somehow loads but I still don't get any callbacks & so the loadingview subview is also present. The WKWebView is placed in a storyboard, and I have an IBOutlet connected to it in my class. Has anyone faced a similar issue or can point me to something I might be missing? All help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

isUserVerifyingPlatformAuthenticatorAvailable returns false on iOS 26.2 Developer Beta
I’m currently developing an application using WKWebView. After updating to iOS 26.2 Developer Beta, the following Web API started returning false: isUserVerifyingPlatformAuthenticatorAvailable MDN: https://developer.mozilla.org/ja/docs/Web/API/PublicKeyCredential/isUserVerifyingPlatformAuthenticatorAvailable_static This issue did not occur on iOS 26.1 — it only happens on the beta version. Has anyone else encountered this problem or is aware of any related changes? OS: iOS 26.2 beta 3 (23C5044b)

Apple Script to Automate Web Page Plot Data
Can someone please help me: I do not have the brain space (85yo) to figure out an Apple Script or Java Script app to do this simple task. I have spent a few hours each day, over several days, and have made zero progress on such an apparently simple task. I wish to create an Automator App for the macOS Safari browser that will schedule (via a Calendar Event) the download of the 48hr data behind the hourly Fuel Mix Plot Data from the AEMO Web Site, every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Here is the link to the AEMO web site: AEMO, Energy Systems, Electricity, National Electricity Market (NEM), Data (NEM),Data Dashboard https://www.aemo.com.au/energy-systems/electricity/national-electricity-market-nem/data-nem/data-dashboard-nem The 48 hour hourly Fuel Mix data is found by selecting the "Fuel Mix" button (which by default will display the NEM Current Trend). The 48 hour trend is displayed by tapping on the small "Current" pulldown menu, and selecting "48 hrs". The 48hr Data is down loaded by selecting the small circular button just to the right of the pulldown menu. a) AEMO Web Site: https://www.aemo.com.au/energy-systems/electricity/national-electricity-market-nem/data-nem/data-dashboard-nem b) Main Menu, and underlying html, c) Fuel Mix menu, Pulldown list, DownLoad button, and underlying html, I am familiar with C++ and have built Xcode Apps, and used Excel Macros extensively in the past. Thank you. Robert.

Safari Extension doesn't load after running Product > Archive
I've been developing a Safari web extension for MacOS and iOS, and I'm running into a very strange issue. I ported over my Chrome extension to Safari, and for several days as I was iterating on the extension (change code, build, run, test in Safari), everything worked perfectly fine. Once I was finished with the extension, I followed the instructions on how to prepare to submit the Safari web extension (and it's containing MacOS and iOS apps) to the App Store for review. For the MacOS app and Safari web extension on Mac, I changed my target from "My Mac" (which I'd been using for testing), to "Any Mac". I then went to the "Product" menu in Xcode and selected "Archive" That's when things started to go wrong. The next time I went to Safari, my web extension could no longer find critical files to run the extension (such as background.js, popup.html, etc.) This was despite there being no code changes before or after me creating a build archive. When I restarted Safari, the extension no longer appeared in the list of extensions within preferences. No matter what I do (clean build folder and re-run, restart Safari, restart Xcode, restart computer), nothing will get my extension to show up in Safari again. Note that this does not happen with the Safari web extension in the iOS simulator. It only happens on Mac. I was confident that my extension was working, so I submitted my extension to the Mac App Store for review. It was approved, and a few users have downloaded it and it works totally fine. To further try to figure out what's going on, I created a new sample Xcode project. From the new project screen, I chose the "Safari web extension" under "Multiplatform". Without making any code changes, I build and run that project, and the default MacOS app and Safari web extension from the template. I then immediately create an archive (with no code changes). Once I try to run the project for my Mac again, the extension no longer works. So I have verified that this problem does not have to do with my extension's code, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what is wrong. I have examined every possible build setting, but given that I ran a default project template, made no changes, and it still had this problem, I'm not sure what else could be wrong.

SAML with SSO extension triggering twice
I am developing an SSO Extension so that I can have SSO with Keycloak across applications. OIDC/OAuth2 works very well. But I am struggling with SAML. It works, but it seems that the form submission is always triggered twice. I use decisionHandler(.cancel) to stop the form submission and redirect it to the browser. I still get the form submitted both by the extension and by the browser. At some point I tried to allow the form submission in the Extension so that I get the redirect with the response to the browser. It still triggered another submission. Does anyone experience this issue?

iOS Safari 18.4/18.5 with IIS Windows Authentication with negotiate hangs after entering credentials
I don't think the issue is specific iOS 18. We have a web application that runs with IIS Authentication of Windows and Anonymous. Initially the app opens and the user clicks a button and triggers the "401 Challenge" via ASP.NET. The browser presents the Active Directory login, user enters credentials, clicks Sign In, and the browser hangs (may actually be negotiating something). After a few minutes the user is logged into the application. We have done a number of google searches/AI to try to determine what to change and there is no clear solution. Is there anything else to try? This problem is not seen in Chrome on iOS or on a Windows machine. Strangely it is also not seen using BrowserStack with one of their "real" devices. We have other apps that run with just Windows Authorization and this problem is not observed.

I cannot log in using 'Sign in with Apple' on iOS 12.
Our service includes the Apple web login feature to support "Sign in with Apple" on iOS 12. However, at some point, an error started occurring on the Apple login page in iOS 12, preventing users from proceeding further. Upon checking the Web Inspector console, we found the following error: Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 503 (Service Temporarily Unavailable) Please help us resolve this issue so that users can continue using "Sign in with Apple" on iOS 12.
