Hello there, For a video like this <video src="blob:safari-web-extension://***" autoplay="" loop="" style="position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; width: 100%; height: 100%; object-fit: cover; z-index: -1;"></video>, no matter if its local or remote, blob or mp4 files, is constantly being reloaded (refetched? revalidated?) if the loop tag is added. I can confirm there is actual constant traffic from the server based on my server logs. I am running iOS/macOS 26.

At present, it is not possible to use deep linking without suffering the Smart banner being injected by Safari on each affected web page. This makes the experience of users choosing to browse an associated website significantly poorer as they have to see a Smart banner at the top of each page. People know there is an app store and an app – they don't need constantly reminding like it is still 2010. Anyone know where a relevant plea can be made to Apple to provide an alternative mechanism here as it damages the ethos of being able to simply use a web browser

In my application, I use HTML pages to display the interface. Since it’s a cross-platform app, the pages and interactions work properly on other platforms. However, in WebKit, because HTTPS protocol is used, JS requests from the page cannot use the ws protocol but must use the wss protocol under HTTPS. Is there any way to allow a webpage under HTTPS to use ws requests normally? Google Chrome can do this.

Hello all, As you may know, the company ProofPoint is an Apple partner, and is engaged (I think) to reduce misuse of icloud emails. We have two servers solely set up for our web-app, which is a specialised forum for apartment owners. The new servers were established about the same time, with the same provider, with clean new IP addresses - and as mentioned above, are only used for this web-app. During a testing phase a YEAR ago, we became aware that our in-house icloud emails weren't receiving notifications via the app, and further investigations revealed that the cause was that ProofPoint had placed a block on that server's IP. We immediately, via their website form initiated a Support Ticket, which, the site indicated was lodged, BUT we have never received any response to that Ticket, nor have we received any response to four subsequent Tickets we initiated - nothing. In over a year!! Yesterday, we contacted Apple support, but the devices area of support is the main section and they said it wasn't an issue they could assist with. Some relevant matters: SPF: DKIM: DMARC: are, I believe all configured correctly (and Gmail gives a PASS to all of them). The IP is not blacklisted by any list we are aware of. Our other server's IP isn't blocked by ProofPoint. So, literally at wits end, I'm reaching out to the developer subscribers here to see if they have any suggestions for us. We currently are unable to accept any new subscriber that is using an icloud email address, and that's an absurd situation to be in. Surely we don't have to go to the trouble and inconvenience of obtaining a new IP because of this!!! But when we can't get ANY response to the Support Tickets, it's really hard. Thanks

Starting with iOS 26.2, when Safari tabs are set to Bottom or Compact view, some pages are not rendering properly. The error does not occur in Top view. For some pages, scrolling causes rendering to be very slow, causing the user to experience page breaks and missing parts. If the user waits a few seconds, the missing parts of the page will appear, but the issue will reoccur when scrolling further. We have tested this on all available iOS devices and the issue occurs on all iPhones running iOS 26.2. The issue does not occur on iOS 26.1, and we have not experienced it on devices running iOS 18. How to allocate the width of each column when customizing the rendering of HTML tables on iOS with limited screen width

After reading several posts I see that I need to add the "com.apple.developer.web-browser.public-key-credential" capability to my macOS app in order to get it to work. So my noob question is where do I request this capability? Can I as a developer request it or does the Account owner need to request it? Once approved, how do I add it to my app's capabilities? I’m a developer working on a Safari Web Extension that’s distributed via the App Store and also tested locally through Xcode. I’m running into an issue that’s affecting my ability to debug errors reported to my Sentry error logging instance from production. The Problem When an error is thrown in one of my extension scripts (e.g., background.js, popup.js, or content.js), the error is sent to Sentry but the captured JavaScript error stack trace replaces the file paths with the webkit-masked-url://hidden placeholder like this: ReferenceError: Cannot access uninitialized variable. at ? (webkit-masked-url://hidden/:14677:28) at ? (webkit-masked-url://hidden/:16307:3) This happens consistently across both App Store builds and local Xcode runs. It prevents me from seeing which script the error came from or resolving the actual source code lines using uploaded source maps in Sentry. My Setup Safari Version: 18.5 (Stable on macOS) Distribution: App Store and local Xcode development Extension Type: Safari Web Extension Error Reporting: Sentry (@sentry/browser SDK) Bundler: Webpack with inline-source-map What I’ve Confirmed I can see the actual source files in Safari’s Web Inspector under the Sources tab when the extension is running. My source maps are uploaded to Sentry correctly and are associated with the matching release. Errors from Safari are being captured by Sentry, but the file URLs are masked, so stack traces cannot be resolved against my original source. My Question Is this behavior (masking file URLs in stack traces with webkit-masked-url://hidden/) intentional for Safari Web Extensions? If so, is there any supported method or workaround to allow exception stack traces to reveal the original script path (e.g., popup.js, background.js) so tools like Sentry or even console logs can point to real locations? I fully understand the privacy/security rationale behind the masking, but as the extension developer, this is making it extremely difficult to debug runtime issues in production. Hello, I have an authentication flow where my app communicates with a backend protected by F5 client certificate validation. The client certificate is distributed via MDM and is available in the device keychain, but not accessible directly from the app. When using ASWebAuthenticationSession (or SFSafariViewController) Safari can successfully pick up and present the certificate during authentication, so that part works fine. However, the backend’s authenticate endpoint only supports a POST request with an Authorization header, whereas ASWebAuthenticationSession only accepts a GET URL when starting the session. My questions are: How is this type of flow typically implemented in iOS? Should the backend provide a GET-based endpoint that redirects into the POST, or is there a recommended iOS pattern (e.g., an intermediate HTML page that does the POST after certificate validation)? Are there Apple guidelines on handling certificate-based auth with ASWebAuthenticationSession when the API requires POST, especially for In-House distributed apps? Any guidance or best practices would be very helpful.

We are embedding TikTok Live streams inside our iOS app using WKWebView. The Live stream loads and plays normally at first. However, when the app goes to the background (for example, user presses the Home button or switches apps) and then returns to the foreground, the TikTok Live video and audio become paused and do not resume automatically. Expected behavior When the app returns from the background to the foreground, the video/audio should resume playback automatically Actual behavior Video/audio pauses after app resumes from background Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. i have programmed a website and struggle to get it to work on safari ios26. 100vh fixed positioned images do not fill the screen anymore. i could live with that, having two background coloured spaces at the top and at the bottom. but elements that scroll out of this new viewport are fully visible, as you can see on the enclosed screenshots. i have no idea how i could fix this and dont find any answer anywhere on the net?

Current application, we explicitly disable automatic HTTPS upgrades: let config = WKWebViewConfiguration() config.upgradeKnownHostsToHTTPS = false Observed behavior iOS 17.5 (built with Xcode 15.3) http:// image URLs are not automatically upgraded to https://, and the behavior works as expected. iOS 18.5 / 18.6.x (built with Xcode 16.4) http:// image URLs appear to be automatically upgraded to https:// by WebKit, even when upgradeKnownHostsToHTTPS is explicitly set to false. This behavior occurs for subresource requests such as <img src="http://..."> inside a WKWebView. Question Has the behavior of upgradeKnownHostsToHTTPS changed in iOS 18 / Xcode 16? Is this property now ignored for certain types of subresource requests (e.g. images), or overridden by new WebKit security policies such as mixed-content HTTPS upgrades? Safari Web Extension for enterprice distribution: If I press run button on xcode it shows the safari web extension toggle and works perfect When installed through exported ipa, the web extension toggle dissapears, it doesnt matter how it was installed through mdm, link, or directly ipa from xcode I just exported an ipa as debugging and it worked when I pushed the ipa

I am maintaining a PWA that utilizes WebSockets. In this app, after the web page is loaded from the server, JavaScript establishes a WebSocket connection. Because the app connects to a completely local server on a managed local network, we use http:// and ws:// (non-secure). The Issue: The app worked perfectly from older iOS versions up to iPadOS 18. However, during testing on iPadOS 26, we encountered an issue where the WebSocket connects successfully but is disconnected by the iPad approximately one second later. According to our packet captures, the iPad is sending a FIN packet to initiate the teardown. Additional Context: What makes this particularly confusing is that we have another server hosting the exact same PWA where the WebSocket connection stays stable even on iPadOS 26. This suggests it might not be a universal OS bug, but perhaps related to specific network conditions or a new security policy. Has anyone experienced similar behavior on iPadOS 26? Could this be a bug, or is there a new security restriction regarding non-secure WebSocket (ws://) connections in local networks? Are there any known changes in WebKit/Safari for iPadOS 26 that might cause the OS to send a FIN packet immediately after a handshake?
