Perhaps the app you are looking for isnt in the app store. Many apps arent especially the productivity/professional ones(i think this is true for PC too?). To allow installs from the web go to system settings>Privacy and security>set Allow applications downloaded from to app store and identified developers. I am unsure whether you are asking how to install apps or merely commenting on the app stores lack of content. Sorry if i misunderstood.
