Reply to Xcode 27 crashes when coding agent asks for permission
Seeing this too, and I have a diagnostic capture if it helps. Xcode 27.1 on macOS 26.7. Same symptom: Xcode hangs with a spinning beachball and needs a force quit whenever the Claude agent raises a tool-approval dialog. Three occurrences in one working session today. A few details that might narrow it down: • The hang happens as the dialog is raised, before any button is pressed — so it isn't related to the Allow / Don't Allow decision or to the permission itself being granted. • The card renders half-drawn and translucent, and a taller dialog seems more likely to hang than a short one. That pattern looks more like a presentation/layout deadlock on the main thread than a TCC failure. • It reproduces on both Bash-command approvals and on file Read/Edit approvals for paths outside the primary project directory. • Not a privacy-protected-directory issue — my project is in ~/Developer, not ~/Desktop or ~/Documents. • Running the same agent from Terminal against the headless Xcode MCP server never hangs, which seems to isolate the fault to the approval dialog in the in-IDE assistant panel rather than to the agent or the tool call. • Xcode 27.1 didn't change the behaviour. Its release notes contain no Coding Intelligence section at all. Filed as FB24907217 with a sysdiagnose captured during the hang (the one Feedback Assistant auto-attaches is gathered at filing time, after the force quit, so it won't contain it), plus a 5-second Sample of the hung Xcode process. Partial workaround for anyone stuck: pre-approving the commands and paths you actually use — so the dialog never appears — avoids it entirely. It's the dialog that's fatal, not the work.
