Update, almost immediately on submission I figured this out. I was using the default "Testflight and App Store" options setting. As soon as I used "Custom" and de-selected the choice to automatically manage version info everything worked fine.

Experiencing the same problem here, can't find a workaround. Anybody heard anything from Apple?
