My recent experiences too have not been good. For my last app i waited 3 weeks to get approval. Long delays while approving the app, sometimes it takes more than 2 weeks. You need to be persistent with Apple. If the delays are much longer than excepted, you should mentioned to apple review team. i would suggest you send expedited request to apple letting them know that if they dont change the status you will re-submit the app. if your app is not new in the store i think they will answer you by giving an excact timeframe when they will change app status or they will tell you to re-submit. If the respose from their team is quick it means a bot is responding, usually if they respond in the next working day, there is a human who responds. hope this helps you.
