this is a great suggestion, i have run into this version mismatch between extensions and main apps before. the failure is silent if your device has a lower OS level than the one set in the build settings. good for user. bad for developer.

hold on, it only ran once after i installed it. then when i tried to run again, says beta expired. something strange going on.

note: we tried this : {The issue goes away when you download the App Store version and reinstall the same "expired" build from TestFlight.} but it seems to keep the store version installed even if you try to install the test flight version... the test flight download looks like it succeeds, but the button in test flight doest change to Open, it goes back to Install. and when you run the app it remains the store version.

another update: we found a workaround till apple fixes: install an older test flight build (ours was from yesterday). dont run it but then install the latest test flight build, but Do Not press the Open button in test flight, go and launch the app from home screen. then it launches and can be re-launched over and over. check the version in your app if you can, to make sure you have the latest version. if you accidentally press Open in test flight, you have to repeat the procedure

by the way the older test flight build has to be one that worked before.

we had this issue all day dec 7 2022. today (dec 8 2022) it seems to be fixed, 9:30 AM eastern time. we had filed a trouble ticket also but no response to that yet. but if they fixed it, great...

update : my colleague says it is still not working on his phone at ios16.1.1 dec 8 2022 10:55 AM ... i am still back at ios15.x on my test device.

hint on your item 2: we had better luck if you open the problematic version from the home screen (tap on icon), do not press the Open button in test flight. then it can be opened multiple times. once you press the Open button in test flight, it breaks it in the "beta expired" way of breaking.

hi, this method worked for us too. the trick to get it to not show the "beta has expired" (we found)...follow the above list, but do not press Open button in test flight, launch the app from home screen icon as if it was a normal store app. it worked for some of our team not all. then you can repeatedly run the app that way. once you press Open in test flight, the app gets expired somehow.
