Comment on Big Sur panic when connect/disconnect usb-c dock
Upgrading your docking station is unlikely to make any difference. In fact, you're likely to get kernel panics even if you connect your monitor directly to your laptop (and not through a docking station). If you're using a DisplayPort connection I'd suggest trying a USB-C to HDMI cable instead - this did the trick for me. Also, if your monitor supports it, disabling DisplayPort 1.2 also fixed the issue in my case.

Have you tried connecting the monitor with a USB-C to HDMI cable? Avoid plugging it in through a dock/adapter. Also, check if your monitor can be setup to use DisplayPort 1.1. My Dell monitor uses DP 1.2 by default but it can be disabled via the monitor on-screen menu -> Display -> DP 1.2 -> Disable. Once I turned off DP 1.2 I never had another crash.

That is such a lame response from Apple. I can easily crash my top-of-the-line MacBook Pro with a simple USB-C/DisplayPort cable. How can that be a third party issue? And even if it was a third-party issue, the fact an operating system can be so easily trashed by a third-party device and they won't do anything about it is just really bad customer service. In my company (12,500+ employees worldwide) almost everyday there's someone in the public IT support Slack channel complaining their shiny new laptop is crashing. The IT guys are shocked and completely overwhelmed with the number of issues with the latest model.
