Gah, the numbering broke after i posted even though it looked fine on the preview, and i can't edit my earlier post... At the end, after re-enabling SIP without kext, if the firewire device is not found then re-run the steps from: "5. Fix file permissions" to "3. Restart (will reboot twice)" and hopefully that wil fix it.
