Advice for how to contact the app review team.

Post: Our App has been rejected under guideline 3.2.2 (iv), which we believe should not apply (specifically: the app review notes state “your app includes the ability to collect charitable donations within the app”, which should not apply as our app is a payment processing tool, and does not collect any funds).

We have expressed this point multiple times in the review notes and messages in apple connect, however this has only received the identical copy pasted template response. We then scheduled and attended a Webex “App Review Appointment”, where the representative could only guess about the rejection reasons, and advised us to change our app’s metadata (description, subtitle etc.) to make the purpose of our app more clear. We made these changes as advised, however our app was again rejected with the same template response.

We have now tried scheduling another Webex “App Review Appointment” on multiple different days, however these requests are being almost immediately rejected, with a vague list of possible reasons for rejection being provided.

If anyone here could advise us the following that would be great:

  • Is there any way to directly contact/speak with the reviewer who evaluates our app for approval?
  • How can we have a conversation beyond the copy pasted template responses being provided?
  • Any other suggestions for our next steps?

Thanks in advance as we seek to move beyond this hurdle and release on the App Store.

Welcome to the forum.

Is there any way to directly contact/speak with the reviewer who evaluates our app for approval?

AFAIK, it is not possible to discuss directly with a reviewer.

Did you appeal the rejection ?

Any other suggestions for our next steps?

  • Have you an idea of what, in your app other its metadata may lead the reviewer to think you are collecting funds ?
  • When you update the submission, explain your point of view, clearly, synthetically and politely in the notes to reviewer ?

Thank you for your post. If you disagree with the outcome of the review, we recommend submitting an appeal to the App Review Board. When filing your appeal, make sure to:

  • Provide specific reasons why you believe your app complies with the App Review Guidelines.
  • Submit only one appeal per rejection.
  • Respond to any requests for additional information before submitting an appeal.

Once you have submitted the appeal we can escalate it to the App Review Board for review. The App Review Board will contact you directly as soon as they've completed their investigation.
