How are the app reviews queued?

Hi, I was wondering about Apple's review queues. I have an app that in waiting for review for almost a week now but review time trackers claim average waiting times less than a day: https://www.runway.team/appreviewtimes

My previous experience is also quite inconsistent, can you please shed some light on how things work internally? In this time I have done some improvements on the app that I was considering for the next update, should I cancel and re-submit?

Hello,

We are seeing a similar issue with a new iOS app submission.

Our new iOS app submission for INEKO, version 1.0, has been stuck in Waiting for Review since Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at 8:00 AM JST. It has not moved to In Review.

There is no Resolution Center message, and the submission has not been marked as Metadata Rejected, Rejected, or Developer Action Needed.

We have confirmed that the submission is complete and ready for review. App Review Information has already been updated with reviewer notes explaining the Sign in with Apple flow, viewing-only mode, report/block flow, account deletion flow, and the posting flow that requires a real dog or cat photographed with the in-app camera.

We contacted Developer Support on Monday, June 22. Developer Support replied that the concern was escalated directly to the review team so that the app’s review gets the appropriate attention. However, the app is still in Waiting for Review after the escalation.

Is anyone else seeing unusually long Waiting for Review times for new iOS app submissions? Is there anything else we should check when the app remains in Waiting for Review with no Resolution Center message?

Thank you.

I wonder if they get some sort of review when in queu already. and get send to another queu or something when the app is more complex or maybe something they flag for closer inspection
