My app sat in "In Review" for over 7 days. The actual review only took place near the very end of that window — last night, a reviewer logged in using a test account, and a few minutes later rejected the app, claiming the icon was plagiarized. I appealed the rejection, and it's now back in the review queue.
Why does an app sit in "In Review" for a week, only for the actual review to happen in the last few minutes before the deadline? And then get rejected over a seemingly arbitrary reason? Why is the reviewer so careless/inconsistent? What's the actual point of the "In Review" status if this is how it works?
The review team clearly has a lot of problems — is nobody overseeing this? I've already emailed Apple's CEO about this. Extremely disappointed with this process.
