First auto-renewable subscription, and I am stuck.
My app version went to review without the subscription attached. App Review rejected under 2.1(b), unable to locate the in-app purchases.
The subscription group and the subscription are both Ready for Review but sit in a separate draft, which says "Unable to Submit for Review. To submit your items for review, add an app version for the selected platform."
That version is the one sitting in the rejected submission, and you cannot add items to a submission with unresolved issues.
Is removing the app version from the rejected submission the right way to free it so the draft can take it? Has anyone done this, and did the review restart cleanly?
Solved it. Posting the steps since I could not find this anywhere.
The fix is to remove the app version from the rejected submission. The control is hover-revealed: put the pointer over the item row under "Items Submitted" and a red minus appears in the Action column.
The part I did not expect: once the removal finished processing, App Store Connect pulled the freed version into my existing draft by itself. I did not have to add it. The draft's "add an app version for the selected platform" warning was replaced by "will be reviewed together with iOS version 2.0", the count went to 3 items, and Submit for Review became active. It is Waiting for Review now with the app version, the subscription group and the subscription all in one submission.
Two things worth knowing if you are looking at that minus button nervously:
The version stayed "Ready for Review" throughout. It did not drop to Developer Rejected, which is what I was worried about after reading other threads.
The Resolution Center thread survived, attached to the old submission, which now shows as Removed. I saved a PDF of it first anyway.
Things that do not work, so you can skip them: Resubmit to App Review just sends the same single item back and earns the same rejection. Edit and Resubmit keeps the item in the same submission, and you only get one edit before resubmitting. And the "Add for Review" dropdown on the version page that gets suggested a lot is simply not there while the version is committed to a submission, so that advice assumes a state you are not in.
Likely cause, for what it is worth: App Store Connect changed IAP submission on July 15 so subscriptions go through the In-App Purchases and Subscriptions sections rather than the app version page. I submitted on the 10th, five days before the change.
