TestFlight invite remains bound to a previous Apple Account after tester removal

Hello,

I need help resetting what appears to be an incorrect TestFlight tester-to-Apple-Account association.

Our intended setup is:

  • An organization-managed Apple Account is an internal tester in App Store Connect.
  • A separate personal Apple Account is an external tester.
  • Both accounts need to test the same iOS/iPadOS app independently.

The iPad originally tested the app with the personal Apple Account. We later stopped testing and signed TestFlight in with the organization-managed Apple Account. We also removed and re-added the tester, sent a fresh invitation/redeem code, reinstalled TestFlight, and made a new build available.

However, when the organization-managed account accepts its newly sent invitation, TestFlight says the currently signed-in Apple Account does not match the account associated with the invitation and identifies the previous personal account. At other times it reports that the app is not available for the current Apple Account. The new invitation therefore appears to remain bound to the original personal account, even after stopping testing and creating a fresh tester invitation.

The device is an iPad mini (6th generation). The app itself installs and runs normally when the iPad is signed back into the original personal account, so this appears to concern TestFlight enrollment rather than app compatibility.

How can a developer completely reset this association so the organization-managed internal tester receives its own valid TestFlight entitlement?

Is this association keyed to the invitation, App Store Connect user record, Apple Account, or device? If it cannot be cleared by the developer, does Apple Developer Support need to remove a server-side TestFlight association?

Thank you.
