Translation API & Download Language Sheet
Using Apple SwiftUI Translate library: when calling: try await session.prepareTranslation() the first time, the API's Language Download sheet does not show (or shows briefly and dismisses immediately) Even when the sheet doesn't show, the keyboard is lowered, as though the sheet would be appearing, but then the keyboard raises as though the sheet was dismissed. The following Errors are printed in the console dozens of times; but on all subsequent executions, the API Language Download sheet shows as expected. The trigger code is in a function which is executed when a Translate button is tapped. Any ideas would be welcome! Console Error on first execution only LaunchServices: store (null) or url (null) was nil: Error Domain=NSOSStatusErrorDomain Code=-54 "process may not map database" UserInfo={NSDebugDescription=process may not map database, _LSLine=72, _LSFunction=_LSServer_GetServerStoreForConnectionWithCompletionHandler} Attempt to map database failed: permission was denied. Reshield apps after certain time?
So I have been working with the screen time api. however I still cant get it to work to reshield certain apps after a certain time because for example Dispatch Queue just gets terminated after a certain time. This is my code right now but the reshielding doesn't get called. Please help I have been working on this since weeks and weeks. import ManagedSettings import DeviceActivity import Foundation class ShieldActionExtension: ShieldActionDelegate { let store = ManagedSettingsStore() let center = DeviceActivityCenter() override func handle(action: ShieldAction, for application: ApplicationToken, completionHandler: @escaping (ShieldActionResponse) -> Void) { switch action { case .primaryButtonPressed: // Unshield the app store.shield.applications?.remove(application) // Encode and persist ApplicationToken if let encoded = try? PropertyListEncoder().encode([application]) { UserDefaults(suiteName: "group.Organization.BrainRipe.cmonnow")?.set(encoded, forKey: "StoredApplicationTokens") } let unshieldDurationMinutes = 2 let now = Date() guard let endDate = Calendar.current.date(byAdding: .minute, value: unshieldDurationMinutes, to: now) else { completionHandler(.close) return } let activityName = DeviceActivityName("com.myapp.shield.reapply") let schedule = DeviceActivitySchedule( intervalStart: Calendar.current.dateComponents([.hour, .minute], from: now), intervalEnd: Calendar.current.dateComponents([.hour, .minute], from: endDate), repeats: false ) do { try center.startMonitoring(activityName, during: schedule) } catch { print("Error starting monitoring: \(error)") } completionHandler(.close) case .secondaryButtonPressed: completionHandler(.defer) @unknown default: fatalError("Unhandled ShieldAction case.") } } } import DeviceActivity import ManagedSettings import Foundation // Optionally override any of the functions below. // Make sure that your class name matches the NSExtensionPrincipalClass in your Info.plist. class DeviceActivityMonitorExtension: DeviceActivityMonitor { let store = ManagedSettingsStore() override func intervalDidStart(for activity: DeviceActivityName) { super.intervalDidStart(for: activity) // Handle the start of the interval. } override func intervalDidEnd(for activity: DeviceActivityName) { guard let data = UserDefaults(suiteName: "group.Organization.BrainRipe.cmonnow")?.data(forKey: "StoredApplicationTokens"), let tokens = try? PropertyListDecoder().decode([ApplicationToken].self, from: data) else { return } let tokenSet = Set(tokens) if store.shield.applications == nil { store.shield.applications = tokenSet } else { store.shield.applications?.formUnion(tokenSet) } // Clear tokens after use UserDefaults(suiteName: "group.Organization.BrainRipe.cmonnow")?.removeObject(forKey: "StoredApplicationTokens") } }

weatherkit: failed to generate jwt token
Hey, I'm trying to update my old app that used DarkSky to WeatherKit, and struggling. I always get: ailed to generate jwt token for: com.apple.weatherkit.authservice with error: Error Domain=WeatherDaemon.WDSJWTAuthenticatorServiceListener.Errors Code=2 "(null)" This is regardless if I do it on my iPad, or in the simulator. I have done the following: Selected WeatherKit on the Capabilities and App Services tabs of the Identifier section on developer. Put it under signing and capabilities in XCode I've tried making a new provisioning profile, cleaning build folder, etc. Not sure what to do here. I suspect part of this problem is that I developed this app in 2018 and now I'm trying to update it. I am able to run the app on TestFlight, but not as an internal tester. Apple won't let me, so I have to add myself as an external tester. Thanks for any help you can provide!

Universal link doesn't work after install right away
Hi! We are having a hard time with the universal link, help is appreciated! Thanks in advance! The universal link doesn't work after installation for some time. A user has to wait for from 5 to a couple of hours after the app is installed on the device. This has also affected App reviewers since we need the universal link to work for successful login. Each submission will receive a rejection of we cannot login and it will be approved until we kindly ask them to try again. I believe the JSON is delivered to devices by Apple's CDN system and the fact that it works on most devices most of the time should imply that we have a valid apple-app-site-association setup. So I am really confused about the wait time, which is giving us trouble with app review and a bad user experience

Crashes with Rosetta after Sonoma update (crash reports).
Hello. We have an app and a custom dylib hat seems to be crashing only when Rosetta is involved. I believe it's the custom DYLIB that crashes. Here are some observations. The issue happens on the older 2022 built DYLIB (Intel only) And the newer DYLIB built (Universal) The universal DYLIB works fine natively on both Intel and M1 machines. It's only when we access it through an Intel only .app and it's running with Rosetta that we see the crash. The older Intel only .DYLIB worked perfectly with the same testing .app in versions before Sonoma, now they crash with the same .app, same build. Crash reports have been all over the place, they vary but repeat themselves. It has been a little confusing as to how to approach this issue and would appreciate any input that can help us understand what is going wrong and how to move forward. Crash reports are attached Crash Report 1 Crash Report 2 Crash Report 3 The crash occurs as SIGSEGV Version: 2.0 (1) Code Type: X86-64 (Translated) Parent Process: launchd [1] User ID: 501 Date/Time: 2025-04-14 19:55:06.0103 +0200 OS Version: macOS 14.6 (23G5075b) Report Version: 12 Anonymous UUID: A08ECCFA-BF01-8636-7453-E4476586D3A8 Time Awake Since Boot: 3900 seconds System Integrity Protection: enabled Notes: PC register does not match crashing frame (0x0 vs 0x102920144) Crashed Thread: 10 Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV) Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x000000011d052840 Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000001, 0x000000011d052840 Termination Reason: Namespace SIGNAL, Code 11 Segmentation fault: 11 Terminating Process: exc handler [3174] VM Region Info: 0x11d052840 is not in any region. Weatherkit API times out at 7am EST
I've noticed that very consistently the Weatherkit API times out when I make a large(-ish) number of calls at 7am east coast time. If I make x calls between 7:00:00 and 7:01:00 about half of them time out (as do retries.) If I make 2x the calls between 7:15:00 and 7:16:00 there are close to zero time outs. I've looked at the logs, at the calls per second, etc., and there is no difference between 7 and 7:15. So, I'm not hitting a rate limit. It seems like Weatherkit itself just can't handle the traffic at peak times. Is there any other explanation? Does Apple intend to make sure the API can handle all the traffic they are getting paid to handle?

identitylookup needed for ILMessageFilterQueryHandling?
My iOS app uses a Message Filter extension (via ILMessageFilterQueryHandling) and works only when run directly as the extension target. When installed normally (via TestFlight), the filter does not trigger at all — which I now believe is because iOS enforces the com.apple.developer.identitylookup entitlement at runtime. Anyone know anything about this? I put in a request for the entitlement last week but heard nothing back. Called Apple "technical" support and they had no idea what I was talking about. The documentation around this is EXTREMELY lacking in my opinion...

iOS Action and Share Extensions disappear for users
Several users have reported that my iOS Action and Share Extensions is not visible. Now one of the TestFlight users has reported the same. Notice this user has been using the app for one year, so they know how to use it. Doing FaceTime and them sharing the screen, we have tried: Deleting app and downloading from App Store Deleting app, turning device off (call was off) and turning it on, downloading from App Store Deleting app, turning device off (call was off) and turning it on, downloading from TestFlight They can open the app, they just do not see the extensions. I would have thought it was the activation rules inside of the InfoPlist, but they are the same for all users and my other testers are not facing the issue. Device is iPhone 16 Pro, iOS 18.1 What other steps could I follow? What other information could I gather to fix this?

ManagedSettingStore limits and groups
So what's the point of being able to block unto 50 apps per ManagedSettingStore via store.application.blockedApplications (which works fine) until removing the blocked apps or clearing the store. Where the following occurs if you have a social networking group with more than 9 apps only 9 apps will go back into the group and all the others will go onto the springboard all jumbled if you end up with an empty group then tap into the group, it is removed then during the reset all apps are placed back on to the springboard

Family Controls Approved for Main App but Not Extension – Blocking
Hi everyone, I’m developing a screen-time and focus app that uses Apple’s Family Controls framework to block distracting apps and reward users through a gamified experience. Apple approved Family Controls (Distribution) for the main app identifier, but they did not approve the required extension target (which implements DeviceActivityMonitor, required for the framework to function). Because of this, I can’t archive or upload the app to TestFlight — and I’ve been stuck in limbo for over 2 months. This is severely delaying my launch. The app works perfectly, but I can’t release it because the extension wasn’t included in the entitlement approval. Has anyone else run into this with Family Controls? Is there any known way to escalate or fast-track approval for additional app IDs or targets? Would really appreciate any help, advice, or hacks. 🙏 Thanks, Enzer

CNContact poster
Hi all, From what I’ve seen on forums and other sources, it appears that nothing can be done to set the contact poster programmatically. Setting the imageData property affects only the thumbnail image. Does anyone know if this is explicitly documented somewhere? I need this information for a POC document. I watched the iOS 17 keynote (where it was introduced), the Platform State of Union, and other WWDC videos, but I couldn’t find any mention of it. The Contacts framework documentation only explains what can be retrieved from this property and doesn’t mention any way to set the contact poster. If anyone has any information on this, please help! Thanks in advance!
