Very hard Watch communication after update of Xcode, MacOs, Watch OS ?
I have a swift project with a Watch companion. Since the update of Xcode in 16.3 version after updating MAcOs , Watch OS, iOS to the latest version . It is quasi impossible for me to make Xcode work with my series 10 Watch. I have a lot of alert box, messages in the "device & Simulator" tool like this Previous preparation error: A connection to this device could not be established.; Timed out while attempting to establish tunnel using negotiated network parameters. And many message telling me that Xcode is preparing the Watch , then that it has lost the connexion. I have to wait some minutes after EACH run of the App to test it again. This is very annoying . Some of the alerts I have : And the best to know , is that I can run the APP outside of Xcode , it works, Connects to the iPhone, fetch data and so. the iPhone sees the Watch without and problem. Reboots can solve for a few minutes the problem. But that is not a solution.

iOS 3.1.3 SDK
Hello!!! I want to do a little project for the original iPhone running iOS 3.1.3 and I don’t find the SDK for iOS 3.1.3. I’ve tried downloading Xcode 3.1.3 from the Apple Developer site, but during the installation process, the iPhone SDK doesn’t appear to be included. I also tested Xcode 3.2.2, but it doesn’t seem to have the iPhone OS 3.1.3 SDK either. Does anyone still have the iPhone OS 3.1.3 SDK available or know where I can find it? Thanks!! Edgar

Xcode 16 is running on an iPhone 7 with iOS 12.1.3. The application fails to open normally and crashes immediately upon startup.
I am currently using Xcode 16 (16A242d) and testing on an iPhone 7 running iOS 12.1.3. However, when I try to launch the app on the device, it crashes immediately. Price in a Xcode synced StoreKit configuration file is not updated when I change it on App Store Connect and always shows the starting price
Hello, I've noticed the prices of my products in my Xcode synced StoreKit configuration are not updated when I change the price in App Store Connect. I tried to manually sync the file, to remove and add it again to my project but old initial prices are still used. In the screenshot below, the price is currently $2.99 but the file still uses the initial price of $1.99. It makes testing a little bit painful because I'm never sure which product is being shown. Is this a bug? Is there a way to get the live production App Store prices be used instead of the starting prices? I filed a feedback for this: FB17798486 Regards, Axel

Build input file cannot be found
Hi! When I run my project on a real device (iPhone 15 Pro), I encounter the following error: Build input file cannot be found: '/Users/Interexy/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/SinglePhotoBook-geecnphrjebsisdmhcyzlsefvphm/Build/Products/Debug-iphoneos/SinglePhotoBook.app/SinglePhotoBook'. Did you forget to declare this file as an output of a script phase or custom build rule which produces it? How can I solve this? I've already reinstalled Pods and cleaned DerivedData a million times, but the issue persists. Xcode: Version 15.4

Gathering Required Information for Troubleshooting Xcode Previews or Swift Previews Issues
Hi, You're here because your project has issues related to Xcode Previews or Swift Previews. The issue you're experiencing may be the result of any of the following: An error in your SwiftUI app, Xcode previews, or on-device previews. A configuration error in your Xcode project, including any third-party dependencies or packages. A system issue in the operating system, SwiftUI, or in Xcode Previews. Based on your request, I need more information about your SwiftUI app when rendering Xcode Previews or on-device previews. Specifically, I’ll need the diagnostics Swift Previews generates to make sure I understand the error encountered by the preview system. Please create a report in Feedback Assistant to share the details requested in the instructions below. For issues with macOS, Mac Catalyst, on-device iOS, or on-device visionOS previews, perform the following steps to gather diagnostics: Download and install the Swift Previews logging profile for your device. Reproduce the error while previewing on device, taking note of the timestamp when the error occurred. Attach the Previews diagnostics, sysdiagnose from your Mac, a sysdiagnose from the previewing iOS or visionOS device. For issues with Xcode Previews, perform the following steps to gather diagnostics: Download and install the Swift Previews logging profile for your device. Reproduce the error in Xcode Previews, if you haven’t already done so. If an error banner appears in the canvas, click the "Diagnostics" button within the banner, then go to Step 5; otherwise, continue to Step 4. If the error banner is missing, navigate to the menu in Xcode: Editor > Canvas > Diagnostics In the presented sheet, click the "Generate Report" button. Attach a zip file containing the diagnostic report to your bug report (it will be named something like previews-diagnostics-0123456789.zip). Submitting your feedback Before you submit to Feedback Assistant, please confirm the following information is included in your feedback: with the Swift Previews logging profile installed, attach the sysdiagnose logs gathered after reproducing the issue the Previews diagnostics generated by Xcode timestamp identifying when the issue was reproduced focused sample Xcode project that reproduces the issue (if applicable) screenshots or videos of the error (optional) Please include all requested information to prevent delays in my investigation. After your submission to Feedback Assistant is complete, please respond to your original Forums post with the Feedback ID. Once received, I can begin my investigation and determine if this issue is caused by an error within your SwiftUI app, a configuration issue within your Xcode project, or an underlying issue in the operating system, SwiftUI, in Xcode Previews, or on-device previews. I have a target that dynamically generates the modulemap when new headers are added. Is there a way to specify for the target that uses that modulemap to wait for this modulemap file?
I have two targets: Library and Generate-Library-Modulemap I use a modulemap to help bridge the Objective-C++ code to Swift. Generate-Library-Modulemap is set up to run only when new headers are added (this is done reliably through some trickery). This seems to work, but the problem is that if I add Generate-Library-Modulemap as a dependency of Library, it seems that by the time Library Generate-Library-Modulemap is run, the Library target has already loaded up an outdated modulemap file. The result is my first attempt to build after adding headers is that the framework fails, as even though the modulemap was generated, it was not attached to the framework. The second attempt succeeds as it reads the updated modulemap. Is there any way to force Xcode to run the Generate-Library-Modulemap step before starting on Library? Or perhaps attach the modulemap after the fact?

Deep link to a file in Xcode
Hi, is there documentation on how to write a deep link that will open Xcode on a given file, and optionally a line number? I know about xed, and I would like exactly that functionality, but in link form, so that I can link to a certain file from an app such as Obsidian or from a README.md file. I checked Xcode's Info.plist and it understands several URL schemes, the most promising of which is xcode://, which successfully launches the app, but no matter what I tried, I get an error dialog telling me that Xcode did not understand the URL. Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Victor

Refactor->Rename "Refactoring Engine Failure"
For Xcode 15 and Xcode 16, whenever I try to use the Refactor->Rename command I get a spinning busy cursor for a short while then I get an alert that says: Rename Failed Refactoring engine failure. This happens on several projects and I've tried removing the derived data folder, but am at a loss to find additional troubleshooting steps. Are there other files I might remove or reset to get my "Refactoring Engine" back into shape?

WatchOS Xcode 16.4 to sample live RR intervals from the PPG sensor ERROR
Hi, I am getting an error stating "Argument passed to call that takes no arguments". I want this Apple Watch App to measure and store RR Intervals from the PPG sensor on the Apple Watch for Heart Rate Variability calculations. Please help me fix this, I can't figure it out. Here is my code: heartbeatQuery = HKHeartbeatSeriesQuery(predicate: predicate, dataReceivedHandler: { (query, timeSinceLastBeat, ended, error) in // Switch to main thread for UI updates DispatchQueue.main.async { if let error = error { print("Heartbeat query error: (error.localizedDescription)") self.fetchErrorMessage = "Heartbeat query error: (error.localizedDescription)" // Consider stopping the workout session if the query fails critically // self.stopWorkoutSession() return } if ended { print("Heartbeat query indicates series ended.") } // Append valid RR intervals if timeSinceLastBeat > 0 { self.rrIntervals.append(timeSinceLastBeat) self.beatCount += 1 } } // End DispatchQueue.main.async }) // End query data handler // --- END OF PROBLEMATIC INITIALIZER --- // Execute the query if it was created successfully It recommends the fix as removing this part: '(predicate: predicate, dataReceivedHandler: { (query, timeSinceLastBeat, ended, error) in // Switch to main thread for UI updates DispatchQueue.main.async { if let error = error { print("Heartbeat query error: (error.localizedDescription)") self.fetchErrorMessage = "Heartbeat query error: (error.localizedDescription)" // Consider stopping the workout session if the query fails critically // self.stopWorkoutSession() return } if ended { print("Heartbeat query indicates series ended.") } // Append valid RR intervals if timeSinceLastBeat > 0 { self.rrIntervals.append(timeSinceLastBeat) self.beatCount += 1 } } // End DispatchQueue.main.async })' But after I remove that it says "Cannot assign value of type 'HKHeartbeatSeriesQuery.Type' to type 'HKHeartbeatSeriesQuery'" PLEASE HELP ME Thanks

How can you have a framework which uses a 3rd party dependency and an app that uses the framework and also the same dependency?
Is this setup possible / have a solution: There is a .xcframework F, which uses a 3rd party library, lets call it L. There is an app which uses the xcframework The app also uses L Both the app and F use SPM to integrate L F is using L for its own internal purposes. F is providing some functionality to the app. How it implements that ideally should be a black box from the app's perspective. The app also happens to use L for its own purposes. I can't get this set up working, always get warnings about duplicate symbols when running the App. This will presumably be due to the fact there are separate copies of L in both F and A. So how can that be eliminated? Can F not statically like to L and use the App's version of L at runtime? If so how can Xcode be configured so that F can actually compile? Or vice versa - can the App not statically link in its own copy of L and use that in the framework? If so, similar questions, how to configure Xcode to set this up? I can't believe this is an obscure use case, yet after days of searching and reading documentation I can't find any solution. Note that I was able to get this going when the app and the framework used Cocoapods to integrate L, but I just can't do similarly if the use of Cocoapods is replaced with SMP. When using cocoapods, within the frameworks Xcode section, the pods framework is set to Do Not Embed. This is probably the vital difference between the working Cocoapods implementation and the not working SPM solution. However, when using SPM Xcode doesn't present any option to either embed nor not embed the dependency. Why not? Can it somehow be set to not embed?

Random "<unknown>:0: warning: default will never be executed" Xcode warning
Hello! I'm experiencing a persistent SwiftCompile warning that I haven't been able to resolve for several months: <unknown>:0: warning: default will never be executed Observations: Appears randomly across different files during the build. No source location or line highlighting is provided. Persists across clean builds and project reopenings. Occurs in both Xcode Cloud and local builds. What I’ve tried: Ensuring all switch statements on enums explicitly handle every case. Removing default cases from fully covered enum switches. Refactoring optional enum handling (e.g., using if let instead of switch). None of these resolved the issue. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated! Project details: Xcode: 16.2 Swift: 6 iOS Target: 17.0+ UI: SwiftUI-only (no UIKit) Dependencies: SwiftPM

Can you use an external macOS device as an Xcode run destination?
Just wondering if it is possible to configure a secondary macbook to act as a run destination in Xcode, similar to how you would configure an iPhone as a run destination. I have tried connecting my device via USB-C and I can see that my macbook detects the second macbook via USB but it does not show up when trying to add devices in Xcode. I suppose this flow might not be supported?

Best strategy to embed multiple dylibs into frameworks
Hi, I compiled Intel Open Image Denoise library for iOS, and obtained a bunch of dependent dylibs. I want to use these ones in a swift project (via bridging as this is C/C++) targeting the iPad. I understand that it is required to embed these dylibs into frameworks as iOS doesn't allow dylib. Is it necessary to generate one framework for each dylib? If so, how are dependencies between the libraries (and their frameworks) managed? Or, is it possible to generate only one framework embeding all the dependencies?
