Images with unusual color spaces not correctly loaded by Core Image
Some users reported that their images are not loading correctly in our app. After a lot of debugging we identified the following: This only happens when the app is build for Mac Catalyst. Not on iOS, iPadOS, or “real” macOS (AppKit). The images in question have unusual color spaces. We observed the issue for uRGB and eciRGB v2. Those images are rendered correctly in Photos and Preview on all platforms. When displaying the image inside of a UIImageView or in a SwiftUI Image, they render correctly. The issue only occurs when loading the image via Core Image. When comparing the different Core Image render graphs between AppKit (working) and Catalyst (faulty) builds, they look identical—except for the result. Mac (AppKit): Catalyst: Something seems to be off when Core Image tries to load an image with foreign color space in Catalyst. We identified a workaround: By using a CGImageDestination to transcode the image using the kCGImageDestinationOptimizeColorForSharing option, Image I/O will convert the image to sRGB (or similar) and Core Image is able to load the image correctly. However, one potentially loses fidelity this way. Or might there be a better workaround?

High bitrate video streaming in avplayer sometimes audio disappears
Hello, I used AVPlayer in my project to play network movie. Most movie could play normally, but I found the sound will disappear sometimes if I play specified 4K video network stream. The video will continue playing but audio stops after video is played for a while. If I pause player and then resume, the sound will be back but disappeared again after several seconds Check AVPlayerItem status: isPlaybackLikelyToKeepUp` == true isPlaybackBufferEmpty` = false player.volume > 0 According the value above, it seems not cause by empty playback buffer or volume issue. HLS VOD Download Resume after Wifi/LTE Change
Hello there, Our application has HLS VOD download option. Users can download VOD which has DRM protection and watch content when device is offline. We use aggregateAssetDownloadTask to download HLS VOD. We want to resume download after Wifi/LTE change but it does not resume. Download is starting from beginning. We use some token algorithms to start download. That's why, our playlist url and chunks urls may change. But playlist and chunk urls' content is unique. If user start to download via Wifi and changed to LTE. Download request responds 403 Forbidden because of some token algorithms after some time func urlSession(_ session: URLSession, task: URLSessionTask, didCompleteWithError error: Error?) AVAssetDownloadDelegate function triggered by system. If we resume it does not resume at this point. It is starting from beginning if we start new download process for same content. Is there any way to resume unfinished HLS Download processes? Thanks

Video Audio + Speech To Text
Hello, I am wondering if it is possible to have audio from my AirPods be sent to my speech to text service and at the same time have the built in mic audio input be sent to recording a video? I ask because I want my users to be able to say "CAPTURE" and I start recording a video (with audio from the built in mic) and then when the user says "STOP" I stop the recording.

AVAudioEngine fails to start during FaceTime call (error 2003329396)
Is it possible to perform speech-to-text using AVAudioEngine to capture microphone input while being on a FaceTime call at the same time? I tried implementing this, but whenever I attempt to start the  AVAudioEngine  while a FaceTime call is active, I get the following error: “The operation couldn’t be completed. (OSStatus error 2003329396)” I assume this might be due to microphone resource restrictions during FaceTime, but I’d like to confirm whether this limitation is at the system level or if there’s any possible workaround or entitlement that allows concurrent microphone access. Has anyone encountered this issue or found a solution?

Enterprise API Passthrough in screen capture not working after visionOS26 update
We have been using passthrough in screen capture since visionOS26 with broadcast upload extension which was working in visionOS2.2 but now with visionOS26 it doesn't update. It fails with Invalid Broadcast session started, after a few seconds of starting the broadcast session. Is there a bug filed for it? or is it a known bug for it?

AVAudioEngine : Split 1x4 channel bus into 4x1 channel busses?
I'm using a 4 channel USB Audio interface, with 4 microphones, and want to process them through 4 independent effect chains. However the output from AVAudioInputNode is a single 4 channel bus. How can I split this into 4 mono busses? The following code splits the input into 4 copies, and routes them through the effects, but each bus contains all four channels. How can I remap the channels to remove the unwanted channels from the bus? I tried using channelMap on the mixer node but that had no effect. I'm currently using this code primarily on iOS but it should be portable between iOS and MacOS. It would be possible to do this through a Matrix Mixer Node, but that seems completely overkill, for such a basic operation. I'm already using a Matrix Mixer to combine the inputs, and it's not well supported in AVAudioEngine. AVAudioInputNode *inputNode=[engine inputNode]; [inputNode setVoiceProcessingEnabled:NO error:nil]; NSMutableArray *micDestinations=[NSMutableArray arrayWithCapacity:trackCount]; for(i=0;i<trackCount;i++) { fixMicFormat[i]=[AVAudioMixerNode new]; [engine attachNode:fixMicFormat[i]]; // And create reverb/compressor and eq the same way... [engine connect:reverb[i] to:matrixMixerNode fromBus:0 toBus:i format:nil]; [engine connect:eq[i] to:reverb[i] fromBus:0 toBus:0 format:nil]; [engine connect:compressor[i] to:eq[i] fromBus:0 toBus:0 format:nil]; [engine connect:fixMicFormat[i] to:compressor[i] fromBus:0 toBus:0 format:nil]; [micDestinations addObject:[[AVAudioConnectionPoint alloc] initWithNode:fixMicFormat[i] bus:0] ]; } AVAudioFormat *inputFormat = [inputNode outputFormatForBus: 1]; [engine connect:inputNode toConnectionPoints:micDestinations fromBus:1 format:inputFormat];

AVAudioSession.outputVolume does not reflect system volume changes made while app is in background
I have a question regarding the behavior of AVAudioSession.sharedInstance().outputVolume. Observed behavior: When the app is in the foreground, I read audioSession.outputVolume (for example, 0.1). The app is then moved to the background. While the app is in the background, the user changes the system volume using the hardware buttons (for example, to 0.5). When the app returns to the foreground, audioSession.outputVolume still reports the previous value (0.1). From my testing, outputVolume only seems to update when the system volume is changed while the app is in the foreground. Volume changes made while the app is in the background are not reflected when the app returns to the foreground. Questions: According to Apple’s documentation for AVAudioSession.outputVolume: “The systemwide output volume set by the user.” https://developer.apple.com/documentation/avfaudio/avaudiosession/outputvolume However, based on our testing on iOS 18.6.2 and iOS 18.1, the observed behavior seems to differ from this description. Questions: The documentation states that outputVolume represents the system-wide volume set by the user. In our testing, the value does not reflect volume changes made while the app is in the background and only updates when the app is in the foreground. Is this the expected behavior of AVAudioSession.outputVolume? Is there any other recommended way in Swift to retrieve the current system volume that reflects user changes made both while the app is in the foreground and while it is in the background? Any clarification on the intended behavior or recommended handling would be greatly appreciated.

UVC over MFi – Is there official support? Implementation guidance?
Hello everyone, I’m looking for more detailed information regarding UVC (USB Video Class) over MFi within the Apple ecosystem and would appreciate some clarification. I’m interested in developing (or interfacing with) an accessory that transmits video over USB using the UVC standard, and I’d like to better understand how this works within the MFi (Made for iPhone) program. Here are my main questions: 1. Do iOS devices provide native support for UVC over USB-C or Lightning within the MFi framework? 2. Are there any specific firmware or authentication requirements when the accessory is MFi-certified? 3. Does UVC support depend solely on the hardware interface (USB-C vs Lightning), or are there additional software-level requirements? 4. Is there any official documentation outlining the recommended flow for implementing UVC-based video capture accessories on iOS? From what I understand, USB-C iPads appear to offer more direct support for standard UVC devices, but it’s not entirely clear how this integrates with the MFi ecosystem with iOS, especially for commercial product development. If anyone has gone through this process or can point me to relevant technical documentation, I would greatly appreciate the guidance. Thank you!

AVPlayer loading performance problem in iOS 26
Hi, I have an app that displays tens of short (<1mb) mp4 videos stored in a remote server in a vertical UICollectionView that has horizontally scrollable sections. I'm caching all mp4 files on disk after downloading, and I also have a in-memory cache that holds a limited number (around 30) of players. The players I'm using are simple views that wrap an AVPlayerLayer and its AVPlayerItem, along with a few additional UI components. The scrolling performance was good before iOS 26, but with the release of iOS 26, I noticed that there is significant stuttering during scrolling while creating players with a fileUrl. It happens even if use the same video file cached on disk for each cell for testing. I also started getting this kind of log messages after the players are deinitialized: <<<< PlayerRemoteXPC >>>> signalled err=-12785 at <>:1107 <<<< PlayerRemoteXPC >>>> signalled err=-12785 at <>:1095 <<<< PlayerRemoteXPC >>>> signalled err=-12785 at <>:1095 There's also another log message that I see occasionally, but I don't know what triggers it. << FigXPC >> signalled err=-16152 at <>:1683 Is there anyone else that experienced this kind of problem with the latest release? Also, I'm wondering what's the best way to resolve the issue. I could increase the size of the memory cache to something large like 100, but I'm not sure if it is an acceptable solution because: 1- There will be 100 player instance in memory at all times. 2- There will still be stuttering during the initial loading of the videos from the web. Any help is appreciated!

Offline HLS with FairPlay?
Hello,We have been working on FPS for a while and managed to play an encrypted asset with it, using version 2 of FairPlay Streaming Server SDK 2.03.Now we are working on "Download and Play Offline" functionality. For this I have downloaded the FairPlay Streaming Server SDK 3.0 and in SDK Folder there is "OfflineHLSGuide_withFPS.pdf" document beside "FairPlayStreaming_PG.pdf" where they tell about how it works and what need to be done.In that document ("OfflineHLSGuide_withFPS.pdf") there is new version of Content Key Duration TLLV which is slightly different than the structure shown in "FairPlayStreaming_PG.pdf"For Content Key Duration TLLV (0x47acf6a418cd091a) in "FairPlayStreaming_PG" there is "Lease Duration" between bytes 16-19.But in the document about OfflineHLSGuide, it says "Reserved" for bytes between 16-19.Where has LeaseDuration gone for offline? ORShould I use one ContentKeyDuration TLLV for non-persist and other version of ContentKeyDuration TLLV for (persist)offline? Thanks

WKWebView Crashes on iOS During YouTube Playlist Playback
I’m encountering a consistent crash in WebKit when using WKWebView to play a YouTube playlist in my iOS app. Playback starts successfully, but the web process terminates during the second video in the playlist. This only occurs on physical devices, not in the simulator. Here’s a simplified Swift example of my setup: import SwiftUI import WebKit struct ContentView: View { private let playlistID = "PLig2mjpwQBZnghraUKGhCqc9eAy0UbpDN" var body: some View { YouTubeWebView(playlistID: playlistID) .edgesIgnoringSafeArea(.all) } } struct YouTubeWebView: UIViewRepresentable { let playlistID: String func makeUIView(context: Context) -> WKWebView { let config = WKWebViewConfiguration() config.allowsInlineMediaPlayback = true let webView = WKWebView(frame: .zero, configuration: config) webView.scrollView.isScrollEnabled = true let html = """ <!doctype html> <html> <head> <meta name="viewport" content="initial-scale=1.0, maximum-scale=1.0"> <style>body,html{height:100%;margin:0;background:#000}iframe{width:100%;height:100%;border:0}</style> </head> <body> <iframe src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/videoseries?list=\(playlistID)&controls=1&rel=0&playsinline=1&iv_load_policy=3" frameborder="0" allow="encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; fullscreen" webkit-playsinline allowfullscreen ></iframe> </body> </html> """ webView.loadHTMLString(html, baseURL: nil) return webView } func updateUIView(_ uiView: WKWebView, context: Context) {} } #Preview { ContentView() } Observed behavior: First video plays without issue. Web process crashes when the second video in the playlist starts. Console logs show WebProcessProxy::didClose and repeated memory status messages. Using ProcessAssertion or background activity does not prevent the crash. Only occurs on physical devices; simulators do not reproduce the issue. Questions: Is there something I should change or add in my WKWebView setup or HTML/iframe to prevent the crash when playing the second video in a playlist on physical iOS devices? Is there an officially supported way to limit memory or prevent WebKit from terminating the web process during multi-video playback? Are there recommended patterns for playing YouTube playlists in a WKWebView on iOS without risking crashes? Any tips for debugging or configuring WKWebView to make it more stable for continuous playlist playback? Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Looking for solutions to build a video chat app (Omegle/Chatroulette style) on Vision Pro
Hi everyone, We are working on a prototype app for Apple Vision Pro that is similar in functionality to Omegle or Chatroulette, but exclusively for Vision Pro owners. The core idea is: – a matching system where one user connects to another through a virtual persona; – real-time video and audio transmission; – time limits for sessions with the ability to extend them; – users can skip a match and move on to the next one. We have explored WebRTC and Twilio, but unfortunately, they don’t fit our use case. Question: What alternative services or SDKs are available for implementing real-time video/audio communication on Vision Pro that would work with this scenario? Has anyone encountered a similar challenge and can recommend which technologies or tools to use? Thanks in advance!

MPMusicPlayerController.applicationMusicPlayer.currentPlaybackRate no longer working in iOS 26.0 (Tahoe)?
I'm wondering if someone happened issues with currentPlaybackRate in released version of iOS 26.0? There is no issue happened in case of iOS 18.5. When I changed currentPlaybackRate on iOS 26.0, it seems to unexpectedly change currentPlaybackRate to be 0 or 1.0 forcibly no matter DRM or non-DRM contents. And also, playing music will be abnormal behavior and unstable with noise if currentPlaybackRate is not 1.0. And changes stop state and play state frequently.

After iOS 18.5, the AVFoundation AVCaptureSessionInterruptionReason.videoDeviceNotAvailableWithMultipleForegroundApps error has caused a significant increase in camera black screen issues.
Issue: After iOS 18.5 release, our app is experiencing a significant increase in AVCaptureSessionInterruptionReason.videoDeviceNotAvailableWithMultipleForegroundApps errors. Details: Our camera-related code has not been updated recently. However, we've observed that the error rate has significantly increased starting from May 2025. The error rate has risen from approximately 0.02% (2 in 10,000 users) to 0.1% (1 in 1,000 users). This represents a 5x increase in error occurrence. The frequency has increased noticeably since iOS 18.5 This is affecting our app's camera functionality and user experience Questions: Are there any known changes in iOS 18.5 regarding camera access management? What are the recommended best practices to handle this interruption reason? Are there any API changes we should be aware of? Best, Shay

Live HLS Stream Not Playing After Window Resize in Vision Pro
Hi everyone, I'm developing a visionOS app for Apple Vision Pro, and I've encountered an issue related to window resizing at runtime when using AVPlayer to play a live HLS stream. ✅ What I'm Trying to Do Play a live HLS stream (from Wowza) inside my app using AVPlayer. Support resizing the immersive window using Vision Pro’s built-in runtime scaling gesture. Stream works fine at default window size when the app launches. ❌ Problem If I resize the app’s window at runtime (using the Vision Pro pinch-drag gesture), then try to start the stream, it does not play. Instead, it just shows the "Loading live stream..." state and never proceeds to playback. This issue only occurs after resizing the window — if I don’t resize, the stream works perfectly every time. 🧪 What I’ve Tried Verified the HLS URL — it’s working and plays fine in Safari and in the app before resizing. Set .automaticallyWaitsToMinimizeStalling = false on AVPlayer. Observed that .status on AVPlayerItem never reaches .readyToPlay after resizing. Tried to force window size back using UIWindowScene.requestGeometryUpdate(...), but behavior persists.

Torch Freezes Ultra-Wide Camera When Switching Between Wide & Ultra-Wide Lenses (AVFoundation Bug?)
I'm developing an iOS app using AVFoundation for real-time video capture and object detection. While implementing torch functionality with camera switching (between Wide and Ultra-Wide lenses), I encountered a critical issue where the camera freezes when toggling the torch while the Ultra-Wide camera is active. Issue If the torch is ON and I switch from Wide to Ultra-Wide, the camera freezes If the Ultra-Wide camera is active and I try to turn the torch ON, the camera freezes The iPhone Camera app allows using the torch while recording video with the Ultra-Wide lens, so this should be possible via AVFoundation as well. Code snippet DispatchQueue.global(qos: .userInitiated).async { [weak self] in guard let self = self else { return } let isSwitchingToUltraWide = !self.isUsingFisheyeCamera let cameraType: AVCaptureDevice.DeviceType = isSwitchingToUltraWide ? .builtInUltraWideCamera : .builtInWideAngleCamera let cameraName = isSwitchingToUltraWide ? "Ultra Wide" : "Wide" guard let selectedCamera = AVCaptureDevice.default(cameraType, for: .video, position: .back) else { DispatchQueue.main.async { self.showAlert(title: "Camera Error", message: "\(cameraName) camera is not available on this device.") } return } do { let currentInput = self.videoCapture.captureSession.inputs.first as? AVCaptureDeviceInput self.videoCapture.captureSession.beginConfiguration() if isSwitchingToUltraWide &amp;&amp; self.isFlashlightOn { self.forceEnableTorchThroughWide() } if let currentInput = currentInput { self.videoCapture.captureSession.removeInput(currentInput) } let videoInput = try AVCaptureDeviceInput(device: selectedCamera) self.videoCapture.captureSession.addInput(videoInput) self.videoCapture.captureSession.commitConfiguration() self.videoCapture.updateVideoOrientation() DispatchQueue.main.async { if let barButton = sender as? UIBarButtonItem { barButton.title = isSwitchingToUltraWide ? "Wide" : "Ultra Wide" barButton.tintColor = isSwitchingToUltraWide ? UIColor.systemGreen : UIColor.white } print("Switched to \(cameraName) camera.") } self.isUsingFisheyeCamera.toggle() } catch { DispatchQueue.main.async { self.showAlert(title: "Camera Error", message: "Failed to switch to \(cameraName) camera: \(error.localizedDescription)") } } } } Expected Behavior Torch should be able to work when Ultra-Wide is active, just like the iPhone Camera app does. The camera should not freeze when switching between Wide and Ultra-Wide with the torch ON. AVCaptureSession should not crash when toggling the torch while Ultra-Wide is active. Questions &amp; Help Needed Is this a known issue with AVFoundation? How does the iPhone Camera app allow using the torch while recording in Ultra-Wide? What’s the correct way to switch between Wide and Ultra-Wide cameras without freezing when the torch is active? Info Device tested: iPhone 13 Pro / iPhone 15 Pro / Iphone 15 iOS Version: iOS 17.3 / iOS 18.0 Xcode Version: 16.2

FairPlay: SDK4 vs SDK26 credentials/certificate for iOS/tvOS client apps
Hi We’re updating our KSM to support SPC v2/v3 and currently operate with both legacy SDK4 credentials (ASK + 1024 cert) and SDK26 credentials (certificate bundle + provisioning data + 1024/2048 keys). Our client apps run across a wide range of iOS/tvOS versions, so we want to follow Apple’s recommended client strategy for certificate selection. The docs describe SHA‑1 vs SHA‑256 in the SPC header, but do not specify which OS versions should use SDK4 vs SDK26 credentials. Could you clarify: Is there an official minimum iOS/tvOS version where you recommend SDK26 credentials for client apps? For older OS versions (e.g. iOS 15), is SDK4 still the recommended choice for client apps? Are there any official migration guidelines for client apps moving from SDK4 to SDK26 credentials? Thanks in advance.

I'm using a 4 channel USB Audio interface, with 4 microphones, and want to process them through 4 independent effect chains. However the output from AVAudioInputNode is a single 4 channel bus. How can I split this into 4 mono busses? The following code splits the input into 4 copies, and routes them through the effects, but each bus contains all four channels. How can I remap the channels to remove the unwanted channels from the bus? I tried using channelMap on the mixer node but that had no effect. I'm currently using this code primarily on iOS but it should be portable between iOS and MacOS. It would be possible to do this through a Matrix Mixer Node, but that seems completely overkill, for such a basic operation. I'm already using a Matrix Mixer to combine the inputs, and it's not well supported in AVAudioEngine. AVAudioInputNode *inputNode=[engine inputNode]; [inputNode setVoiceProcessingEnabled:NO error:nil]; NSMutableArray *micDestinations=[NSMutableArray arrayWithCapacity:trackCount]; for(i=0;i<trackCount;i++) { fixMicFormat[i]=[AVAudioMixerNode new]; [engine attachNode:fixMicFormat[i]]; // And create reverb/compressor and eq the same way... [engine connect:reverb[i] to:matrixMixerNode fromBus:0 toBus:i format:nil]; [engine connect:eq[i] to:reverb[i] fromBus:0 toBus:0 format:nil]; [engine connect:compressor[i] to:eq[i] fromBus:0 toBus:0 format:nil]; [engine connect:fixMicFormat[i] to:compressor[i] fromBus:0 toBus:0 format:nil]; [micDestinations addObject:[[AVAudioConnectionPoint alloc] initWithNode:fixMicFormat[i] bus:0] ]; } AVAudioFormat *inputFormat = [inputNode outputFormatForBus: 1]; [engine connect:inputNode toConnectionPoints:micDestinations fromBus:1 format:inputFormat];
