At the beginning of the process, we explicitly request camera permission using navigator.mediaDevices.getUserMedia(...), and the user grants it successfully. However, as users proceed through the flow (navigating between routes), Safari on iOS intermittently re-prompts for camera access—despite the initial permission already being granted and the origin (domain) remaining unchanged. This repeated prompting interrupts the user experience significantly. What we’ve tried: Ensuring camera access is requested only once and reused where possible. Using persistent media stream across routes (where feasible). Testing across different iOS versions to confirm consistency. Questions: Is there a known workaround or best practice to persist camera access across route transitions in a SPA/PWA context on iOS? However, it seems to be missing (no key in userInfo) when the default profile is active. Also, I haven’t found any API to get a profile’s human-readable name or list all available profiles. Could someone clarify: If the value of SFExtensionProfileKey is absent, can I safely assume the default profile is in use? Is there a supported way to get a profile’s display name? I am currently developing a Chrome, Firefox and Safari web extension, and I am facing a CSP issue on the content script on Safari. The extension I develop has a content script that injects an img tag in the DOM of web pages the user is visiting. That img tag fetches its content at a specific URL. On Chrome and on Firefox, the img tag content fetches the content at the URL with no issue on every web pages, including those that set the CSP header img-src. I built and extension for chrome, edge, and firefox. I'm porting the chrome extension to safari using the safari-web-extension-converter tool. This has worked successfully and I was able to publish my extension to the app store. I made some updates to the service worker code recently and I'm now being hit with an error when trying to load my unsigned extension into safari: The service_worker script failed to load due to an error. I've looked online at some other forums and haven't found anything helpful around how to debug this kind of error. Because the service worker is non-persistent in safari, I don't have access to the console logs of the service worker through the Develop > Web Extension Background Context menu. Has anyone successfully debugged this kind of error? Are there logs I can pull directly from safari that would help me here? Thanks in advance for the help!

We are seeing network errors in Outlook mail on iOS and MacOS safari browsers. As per current investigation, we notice these network error when the user tries to use outlook after leaving it open on Safari for a while. Observations: Issue present in both MacOS and iOS safari. Issue is not present in other webkit browsers like brave and edge on iOS. Issue is reproable on both mini and big owa on safari browser. Issue is not related to post requests being sent in different packets on safari browser. Requests are only blocked for outlook.office/outlook.live domains What does not fix this issue? Reloading the application Clearing cookie, local storage or session storage Unregistering service workers Redirecting to a different page and coming back to outlook domain Re authenticating the users What fixes this issue? It seems that in iOS 18.5+ built with Xcode 16.4+, there has been a breaking change since 18.4 with 16.3 within WebKit and how the navigationAction.sourceFrame property is initialized when implementing the decidePolicy delegate method. The flow goes: Implement a WKNavigationActionDelegate with decidePolicy Call WKWebView.loadHTMLString("some-string", baseURL: nil) Upon loading the HTML content, read the value of navigationAction.sourceFrame within the decidePolicy method of the WKNavigationActionDelegate On iOS 18.4 (and below) with Xcode 16.3 (and below); navigationAction.sourceFrame is <uninitialized> On iOS 18.5+ with Xcode 16.4+: navigationAction.sourceFrame is already initialized and is equal to navigationAction.targetFrame It appears that this change was made between minor versions of Xcode and is unexpected behavior of a minor version. Not only was this not called out in the release notes for Xcode 16.4 and iOS 18.5, but it's technically also a breaking change to the WebKit API. Can we get insight on why this change was made and what Apple's policy is on breaking changes between minor versions of Xcode/iOS?

I have compiled some Java code to WebAssembly via TeaVM and wrapped it in a PWA. The resulting code runs nicely in Firefox and Chrome but throws an exception in Safari. CompileError: WebAssembly.Module doesn't parse at byte 1657: invalid extended GC op 24, in function at index 2251 Can anybody tell me what's wrong with that code? I mean it can't be so bad if Firefox and Chrome can parse and run it without problems. Cross posting from Spatial Computing, apologies if this is not the appropriate forum. The purpose is to create a simple web-based gallery of spatial photos and videos using static html files. I have successfully displayed spatial photos using the img tag and IMG.heic files. I can tap and hold the image to bring up the contextual menu and from there select View Spatial Photo. Is there any way to add a control to the image, like a link or overlay on the image itself, that a user can simply tap to show the image in 3D? And how to host a (small!) video file on a web page without going through a CDN/streaming service? Sample html would be much appreciated.
