USDZ Security
I am working on an app that will allow a user to load and share their model files (usdz, usda, usdc). I'm looking at security options to prevent bad actors. Are there security or validation methods built into ARKit/RealityKit/CloudKit when loading models or saving them on the cloud? I want to ensure no one can inject any sort of exploit through these file types.

Header Blur Effect on visionOS SwiftUI
Hi, I'm looking to build something similar to the header blur in the App Store and Apple TV app settings. Does anyone know the best way to achieve this so that when there is nothing behind the header it looks the same as the rest of the view background but when content goes underneath it has a blur effect. I've seen .scrollEdgeEffect on IOS26 is there something similar for visionOS? Thanks!

Blender Geometry Nodes to Reality Composer Pro
Hello! Back from last week's amazing visit to Cupertino for the Game Dev session and diving back into Vision Pro experimentation. I've exported a simple geometry nodes with animation test from Blender for use in RCP, with intended output to Vision Pro. I've attached a few screenshots showing the node setup and how it animates over time. I select the Cube mesh and export as .usdc with animation. In the finder via quick look, I can actually see it working! If I try exporting as .usdz, however, i'm not seeing any animation in the finder preview. Next, I import the .usdc file to RCP and add an Animation Library component to the cube mesh, but am not seeing any animation selectable, even though I see animation playing back in preview. Next, I import the .usdc into Maya (via proper USD Stage pipeline - i'm learning to be USD compliant for authoring!) to verify if the animation is working, and it does. What step(s) am I missing to get this working in Reality Composer Pro? My goal is to experiment with animating these geometry node instances - along with color animation if possible - over to Vision Pro for full scale, immersive presentation. Of particular note, I am not a programmer, so I am trying my best to brute force this the only way I currently know possible, by keyframe animation and importing through Reality Composer Pro. I realize that, ideally, I should be learning how to leverage the code portion so I can start programatically controlling my 3d entities (with animation), but need more hand holding and real-world examples to help me get there. Thx!

Possible Bug - Hover Effects/Spatial Event Compatibilty with PSVR2 Controllers?
Hi, I would like clarification on whether the new hover effects feature introduced in vision os 26 supported pinch gestures through the psvr 2 controllers. In your sample application, I found that this was not working. Pulling the trigger on the controller whilst looking at the 3d object did not activate the hover effect spatial event in the sample application. (The object is showing the highlight though), only pinch clicking with my fingers seem to be registering/triggering the spatial event. I am using Vision OS 26.3 This is inconsistent with how the psvr2 controller behaves on swift ui views and ui view elements, where the trigger press does count as a button click. The sample I used was this one: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/compositorservices/rendering_hover_effects_in_metal_immersive_apps

Is it possible to live render CMTaggedBuffer / MV-HEVC frames in visionOS?
Hey all, I'm working on a visionOS app that captures live frames from the left and right cameras of Apple Vision Pro using cameraFrame.sample(for: .left/.right). Apple provides documentation on encoding side-by-side frames into MV-HEVC spatial video using CMTaggedBuffer: Converting Side-by-Side 3D Video to MV-HEVC My question: Is there any way to render tagged frames (e.g. CMTaggedBuffer with .stereoView(.leftEye/.rightEye)) live, directly to a surface in RealityKit or Metal, without saving them to a file? I’d like to create a true stereoscopic (spatial) live video preview, not just render two images side-by-side. Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Occlusion issues in Immersive Space - Breaking User Input Interaction
I'm developing a custom gesture-based visionOS project that uses hand tracking with collision detection spheres on fingers to register user interactions through collision components. I'm experiencing a critical occlusion issue where collision detection spheres are intermittently occluded by the background/depth buffer, causing fingers to pass through the 3D model entities without registering interactions. Detailed Description: I have added 3D entities in an immersive scene with collision spheres attached to fingers for detecting user interactions. Each sphere has: CollisionComponent with sphere shape Proper collision masks and groups configured Real-time position updates from hand joint transforms Each entity has: InputTarget components to register collisions The Issue: When users move their fingers to the entity to interact, some collision spheres (particularly on the pinkie and ring fingers) become occluded and pass directly through the 3D model without triggering collision events. Meanwhile, other fingers (like the index finger) continue to work correctly. This appears to be a depth perception/z-buffer issue between the model entity and the hand tracking collision spheres Questions: Is there a recommended approach for maintaining consistent depth ordering between hand-tracking entities and 3D models in immersive spaces to prevent occlusion issues? Should I be using AnchorEntities to anchor the entity to a plane or world position to establish a more stable depth reference? Are there specific RenderingComponent or material settings that could help ensure collision entities maintain their depth priority and don't get occluded? Could this be related to z-fighting when collision spheres and entity geometry occupy similar depth ranges? If so, what's the recommended depth bias approach? Is there a better architectural approach for implementing interactions with custom hand gesture tracking that avoids these depth perception issues? What Would Help: Implementation guidance for ensuring reliable collision detection between hand-tracked entities through custom gestures and 3D models. Best practices for depth management in immersive spaces with custom hand gesture tracking. Sample code demonstrating stable hand-to-object interaction patterns. Information about whether this is a known limitation or if there are specific APIs I should be leveraging This issue is significantly impacting the reliability of our app experience, as users cannot consistently interact with all model components. Any guidance from Apple engineers or developers who have solved similar depth/occlusion challenges would be greatly appreciated. Additional Context: This is for a productivity-focused application where accuracy and reliability are critical. Thank you for any assistance!

Tracking over large distances
I'm developing an AR application for the iPad pro where the primary purpose is to overlay 3D design data on top of production parts. For alignment, we are using Vuforia (model targets) which work really well locally. The further the device is moved from the point of original alignment, we are seeing quite a bit of overlay error (drift?). My primary questions are: Are there any best practices to stabilize frame-to-frame tracking when using model targets? We are noticing drift as soon as the device starts moving (the drift appears to occur specifically in the direction the device is moving). After about 15 feet of movement, we are observing about 3-6" of overlay error These use cases can be over 100 feet long. In order to reset drift, we understand we'll need multiple alignment points (model targets) along the way. Is there a standard/best practice for this? Ex: have a new alignment point every x-feet? We are using plane anchors to set our alignment. Typically we attach it to the nearest plane; however, the anchor point can be very far away (the origin of the model, which often is not near where the virtual content is). Could this be the issue? The anchor is far from the plane that we attach it too. Would moving the anchor closer to the plane we attach it too improve stability? After a few steps, the plane we originally attach too will be out of FoV anyway. Thanks in advance!

High CPU with ARWorldTrackingConfiguration vs. ARBodyTrackingConfiguration using AREnvironmentTexturing
In a simple test, I'm observing ~30% higher CPU usage with the ARWorldTrackingConfiguration compared to the ARBodyTrackingConfiguration when both configurations have AREnvironmentTexturing enabled. In Instruments, I observe Recon3D consuming ~5.5 seconds of CPU time with the ARWorldTrackingConfiguration vs <0.3 second with the ARBodyTrackingConfiguration in two separate 30 seconds samples. This is on an iPhone 12 Pro equipped with lidar. Is there a reason why two separate configurations, both having the same features enabled would have a different CPU overhead?

Help Configuring Unity for Immersive VR on Vision Pro with Pinch Teleport
How do I configure a Unity project for a fully immersive VR app on Apple Vision Pro using Metal Rendering, and add a simple pinch-to-teleport-where-looking feature? I've tried the available samples and docs, but they don't cover this clearly (to me). So far, I've reviewed Unity XR docs, Apple dev guides, and tutorials, but most emphasize spatial apps. Metal examples exist but don't include teleportation. Specifically: visionOS sample "XRI_SimpleRig" – Deploys to device/simulator, but no full immersion or teleport. XRI Toolkit sample "XR Origin Hands (XR Rig)" – Pinch gestures detect, but not linked to movement. visionOS "XR Plugin" sample "Metal Sample URP" – Metal setup works, but static scene without locomotion. I'm new in Unity XR development and would appreciate a simple, standalone scene or document focused only on the essentials for "teleport to gaze on pinch" in VR mode—no extra features. I do have some experience in unreal, world toolkit, cosmo, etc from the 90's and I'm ok with code. Please include steps for: Setting up immersive VR (disabling spatial defaults if needed). Integrating pinch detection with ray-based teleport. Any config changes or basic scripts. Project Configuration: Unity Editor Version: 6000.2.5f1.2588.7373 (Revision: 6000.2/staging 43d04cd1df69) Installed Packages: Apple visionOS XR Plugin: 2.3.1 AR Foundation: 6.2.0 PolySpatial XR: 2.3.1 XR Core Utilities: 2.5.3 XR Hands: 1.6.1 XR Interaction Toolkit: 3.2.1 XR Legacy Input Helpers: 2.1.12 XR Plugin Management: 4.5.1 Imported Samples: Apple visionOS XR Plugin 2.3.1: Metal Sample - URP XR Hands 1.6.1 XR Interaction Toolkit 3.2.1: Hands Interaction Demo, Starter Assets, visionOS Build Platform Settings: Target: Apple visionOS App Mode: Metal Rendering with Compositor Services Selected Validation Profiles: visionOS Metal Documentation: Enabled Xcode Version: 26.01 visionOS SDK: 26 Mac Hardware: Apple M1 Max Target visionOS Version: 20 or 26 Test Environment: Model: Apple Vision Pro, visionOS 26.0.1 (23M341), Apple M1 Max No errors in builds so far; just missing the desired functionality. Setting immerstionStyle while in immersive space breaks all entities.
I have my immersive space set up like: ImmersiveSpace(id: "Theater") { ImmersiveTeleopView() .environment(appModel) .onAppear() { appModel.immersiveSpaceState = .open } .onDisappear { appModel.immersiveSpaceState = .closed } } .immersionStyle(selection: .constant(appModel.immersionStyle.style), in: .mixed, .full) Which allows me to set the immersive style while in the space (from a Picker on a SwiftUI window). The scene responds correctly but a lot of the functionality of my immersive space is gone after the change in style; in that I am no longer able to enable/disable entities (which I also have a toggles for in the SwiftUI window). I have to exit and reenter the immersive space to regain the ability to change the enabled state of my entities. My appModel.immersionStyle is inspired by the Compositor-Services demo (although I am using a RealityView) listed in https://developer.apple.com/documentation/CompositorServices/interacting-with-virtual-content-blended-with-passthrough and looks like this: public enum IStyle: String, CaseIterable, Identifiable { case mixedStyle, fullStyle public var id: Self { self } var style: ImmersionStyle { switch self { case .mixedStyle: return .mixed case .fullStyle: return .full } } } /// Maintains app-wide state @MainActor @Observable class AppModel { // Immersion Style public var immersionStyle: IStyle = .mixedStyle

ManipulationComponent create parent/child crash
Hello, If you add a ManipulationComponent to a RealityKit entity and then continue to add instructions, sooner or later you will encounter a crash with the following error message: Attempting to move entity “%s” (%p) under “%s” (%p), but the new parent entity is currently being removed. Changing the parent/child entities of an entity in an event handler while that entity is already being reassigned is not supported. CoreSimulator 1048 – Device: Apple Vision Pro 4K (B87DD32A-E862-4791-8B71-92E50CE6EC06) – Runtime: visionOS 26.0 (23M336) – Device Type: Apple Vision Pro The problem occurs precisely with this code: ManipulationComponent.configureEntity(object) I adapted Apple's ObjectPlacementExample and made the changes available via GitHub. The desired behavior is that I add entities to ManipulationComponent and then Realitiykit runs stably and does not crash randomly. GitHub Repo Thanks Andre

WWDC25 Houdini VR Optimisation Toolkit Texture Baking
The texture baking section of the WWDC25 session "Optimize your custom environments for visionOS" (https://youtu.be/RELnRZmb02c?t=1485) moves very quickly and leaves a lot unexplained. Has anyone worked through this part of the toolkit in practice and can speak to what's actually going on, particularly around projection baking and how it addresses the reprojection artifacts the presenter briefly mentions? Thankyou

Xcode fails to compile Blender-exported USDZ in .rkassets with misleading "permission" error — Xcode 26.3
The error: When building a RealityKitContent package that contains a USDZ file exported from Blender, Xcode throws the following error: error: [xrsimulator] Exception thrown during compile: Cannot get rkassets content for path .../RealityKitContent.rkassets because 'The file "RealityKitContent.rkassets" couldn't be opened because you don't have permission to view it.' error: Tool exited with code 1 The error message mentions "permission" — but permissions are not the issue. This appears to be a misleading error from realitytool masking a USD validation failure. What I've ruled out File permissions — all files are -rw-r--r--, user has Read & Write on the folder Extended attributes / quarantine flag — other files with the same @ flag work fine Corrupted archive — unzip -t confirms the USDZ is valid (board.usdc + textures) Stale build cache — deleted DerivedData and com.apple.DeveloperTools cache, no change Key observations The same file builds successfully on my colleague's machine running identical Xcode 26.3 - MacOS 26.3 Other USDZ files in the same .rkassets bundle (downloaded from Sketchfab, or created in Reality Composer Pro) compile without any issue. Only USDZ files exported directly from Blender are affected. When the file is placed in Bundle.main and loaded via Entity(named:in:.main), it works perfectly — no errors Reality Converter flags the file with two errors: UsdGeomPointInstancers not allowed, and root layer must be .usdc with no external dependencies The confusing part: the same file compiles fine on an identical Xcode 26.3 setup and importing method. This suggests either a machine-specific difference in Xcode's validation behavior, or a cached .reality bundle on my colleague's machine that isn't being recompiled. Current workaround: Loading from Bundle.main instead of the RealityKitContent package bypasses realitytool entirely and works, but loses Reality Composer Pro integration: if let entity = try? await Entity(named: "test", in: Bundle.main)

visionOS 26 - Rendering Issues related to Transparency
Summary After updating to visionOS 26, we’ve encountered severe transparency rendering issues in RealityKit that did not exist in visionOS 2.6 and earlier. These regressions affect applications that dynamically control scene opacity (via OpacityComponent). Our app renders ultra-realistic apartment environments in real time, where users can walk or teleport inside 3D spaces. When the user moves above a speed threshold, we apply a global transparency effect to prevent physical collisions with real-world objects. Everything worked perfectly in visionOS 2.6 — the problems appeared only after upgrading to 26. Scene Setup Overview The environment consists of multiple USDZ models (e.g., architecture, rooms, furniture). We manage LODs manually for performance (e.g., walls and floors always visible in full-res, while rooms swap between low/high-res versions based on user position and field of view). Transparency is achieved using OpacityComponent, applied dynamically when the user moves. Some meshes (e.g., portals to skyboxes, glass windows) use alpha materials We also use OcclusionMaterials to prevent things to be seen through walls when scene is transparent Observed Behavior by Scenario (I can share a video showing the results of each scenario if needed.) Scenario 1 — Severe Flickering (Root Opacity) Setup: OpacityComponent applied to the root entity NO ModelSortGroupComponent used Symptoms: Strong flickering when transparency is active Triangles within the same mesh render at inconsistent opacity levels Appears as if per-triangle alpha sorting is broken Workaround: Moving the OpacityComponent from the root to each individual USDZ entity removes the per-triangle flicker Pros: No conflicts with portals or alpha materials Scenario 2 — Partially Stable, But Alpha Conflicts Setup: OpacityComponent applied per USDZ entity ModelSortGroupComponent(planarUIAlwaysBehind) applied to portal meshes Other entities have NO ModelSortGroupComponent Symptoms: Frequent alpha blending conflicts: Transparent surfaces behind other transparent surfaces flicker or disappear Example: Wine glasses behind glass doors — sometimes neither is rendered, or only one Even opaque meshes behind glass flicker due to depth buffer confusion Alpha materials sometimes render portals or the real world behind them, ignoring other geometry entirely Analysis: Appears related to internal changes in alpha sorting or depth pre-pass behavior introduced in visionOS 26 Pros: Most stable setup so far Cons: Still unreliable when OpacityComponent is active Scenario 3 — Layer Separation Attempt (Regression) Setup: Same as Scenario 2, but: Entities with alpha materials moved to separate USDZs Explicit ModelSortGroupComponent order set (alpha surfaces rendered last) Symptoms: Transparent surfaces behind other transparent surfaces flicker or disappear Depth is completely broken when there's a large transparent surface Alpha materials sometimes render portals or the real world behind them, ignoring other geometry entirely Workaround Attempt: Re-ordering and further separating models did not solve it Pros: None — this setup makes transparency unusable Conclusion There appears to be a regression in RealityKit’s handling of transparency and sorting in visionOS 26, particularly when: OpacityComponent is applied dynamically, and Scenes rely on multiple overlapping transparent materials. These issues did not exist prior to 26, and the same project (no code changes) behaves correctly on previous versions. Request We’d appreciate any insight or confirmation from Apple engineers regarding: Whether alpha sorting or opacity blending behavior changed in visionOS 26 If there are new recommended practices for combining OpacityComponent with transparent materials If a bug report already exists for this regression Thanks in advance!

How to renew visionOS Enterprise API entitlement / license?
Hi everyone, I’m currently using the visionOS Enterprise APIs, and I noticed in the official documentation that: However, I couldn’t find any clear instructions on how to actually renew the license. What is the correct process to renew a visionOS Enterprise API license? Do I need to submit a new entitlement request again to renew? Is there any official step-by-step guide or documentation for renewal? Any advice or shared experience would be greatly appreciated 🙏 Thank you!

Can't build old project on Xcode 26 beta5
I have a visionOS 2 project created on Xcode 16, when I updated to Xcode 26 beta5, I can't build it any more, every time it stuck in process like the picture shows below: Already tried many methods to fix this issue, such as clear build folders, but don't work. MacBook Air M2 / MacOS 26 beta5 / Xcode 26 beta5

Thankyou

Sky Dome vs. Sky Sphere
In Reality Composer Pro, why is the Sky Sphere so much larger than the Sky Dome? By my estimate, the Sky Sphere has a radius of 100m, while the Sky only has a radius of only 12m.

UVC Capture stops when open Immersive Space
My app is getting video from UVC device, and I wish to display it in an Immersive Space. But when I open Immersive Space, the UVC capture will just stop.AI said it's due to confliction in Camera pipeline. But I don't really understand, I don't need to use any on device camera, why it conflict with my UVC...
