For sake of completeness, can you share detailed info on what you did exactly? I have deleted the folder and recreated it, but the updates still do not work. Please add more details on exactly what you did (steps and details on each step, including reboots, what user and group did you assign when you created the folder, the permissions on the "AppStore" folder [think ls -all /Library/AppStore, etc...).
