Reply to Apple watch Xcode pairing & connection issues
Same issue on Xcode 27.0 / watchOS 26.6: watch is detected through the iPhone, but pairing never completes Environment Mac: MacBook Pro (M5), macOS 27.0 (26A428) Xcode 27.0 (27A266a) iPhone 12, iOS 27.0 (24A437), wired to the Mac, Developer Mode on, trusted Apple Watch Series 8 45mm GPS, watchOS 26.6 (23U67), paired to that iPhone, passcode set Symptoms The iPhone works fine: the app builds, installs and runs. The watch never appears in Device Hub, in xcrun devicectl list devices, or as a watchOS run destination (only "Any watchOS Device"). Developer Mode never appears on the watch under Settings > Privacy & Security. Installing the companion watch app from the iPhone's Watch app fails with an "integrity could not be verified" error, since the watch was never registered. What the logs show (remotepairingd) Received MobileDevice device attach notification for proxied device <watch UDID>, so the watch is detected through the iPhone. Attempting to bootstrap pairing using MobileDevice... Could not pair with the device: 0xe8000096 and AMDevicePairWithCallback returned ... kAMDPairingDialogResponsePendingError Starting/Stopping auto-pairing through MobileDevice with companion watches, repeating, with no completion. The physical iPhone's CoreDevice record has no companionDevicePairingInfo at all (paired simulators do). Everything tried, none of it worked Restarted Mac, iPhone and watch, several times Unpaired and re-paired the iPhone (Trust accepted) Accepted the "Trust this computer" prompt on the watch (it appeared once) Restarted remotepairingd and CoreDeviceService Same Wi-Fi for all devices; tried 2.4 GHz only (router's 5/6 GHz off) and an iPhone hotspot iPhone Bluetooth off, so the watch uses Wi-Fi Screen Time off (the watch is on a Family Sharing child account); Content & Privacy Restrictions off Kept the watch unlocked, awake and charged Device Hub > Pair Nearby Device (it only waits; this path appears to be for watchOS 27 devices) Confirmed no firewall or VPN on the Mac The watch can't update to watchOS 27 (Series 8 isn't supported), so the old pairing-through-iPhone path is the only option, and it never completes. Is there a known fix or workaround for Xcode 27 with watchOS 26.x watches? Happy to file a Feedback report with devicectl diagnose output and sysdiagnoses.
