I got tired of waiting (I let it sit overnight), so I tried several things including quitting Xcode, and deleting/recreating the Archive. I was finally able to get around this error after a reboot of my MacBook. Perhaps I got lucky, but posting in the off chance it helps others who are experiencing this issue.
