I have exactly these resources, and I'm not a beginner. Last years I used for development a MB Air with 8GB of RAM and 256 of HD... and was still at the limit, but I could do many things. Anyway, the problem for a beginner is to spend too many money only for learning...

I agree with you, but I didn't find alternatives. Anyway, this is a big complication for a beginning project.
