Hi,
I have an account that is only a few days old. My first notary went smooth and was done within minutes. Every subsequent notary has been stuck pending. The oldest one being a day or so.

For years, I've been shipping my apps with a Perl script that now invokes notarytool to get the notarization, using this command
/usr/bin/xcrun notarytool submit --apple-id jerry@sheepsystems.com --keychain-profile SSYShipProduct --team-id 4MAMECY9VS --output-format json /Users/jk/blah/blah/MyApp.zip --wait
I used this script with this command several times during September 2024 to ship my apps, and it worked. But now, the above command fails with:
Error: No Keychain password item found for profile: SSYShipProduct Run 'notarytool store-credentials' to create another credential profile.
Of course, I am now running later versions of macOS beta and Xcode than I was in September. Does anyone know the problem? Screenshots from Terminal and Keychain Access are attached. Thank you.

Hello, our app is non-sandboxed app, but we do want to support widget extension and safari extension. Those extensions require sandboxing. Is it possible to do this without sandboxing our app? Thank you!

What causes the pattern to be narrow?
I was trying to put my game to test flight. I would test features like ads and in-app-purchases, then put on the Appstore(release). The game already works on Ipad. For test flight, the "automatically manage signing" option was enabled. Then I pressed the "archive" button. Built succeeded. Then I clicked the distribute button. That time, I had an error. "Upload failed, Invalid signature, App is not properly signed". I researched, and found special characters in name, team name and address can make errors. My name, address and team name have special characters(turkish). If it will be resolved, I want to re-write(fix) my name, team name and address. I already tried to change my name, team name and address from apple developer website but failed. They are asking a document of my identity of my new name but I didn't changed my name and address. Overall, there aren't any other facts that cause this issue as I know. If I send my current, unchanged identity and home address, could they allow to change(fix) them?

Explanation :
Invalid Signature - Make sure you have signed your application with a distribution certificate, not an ad hoc certificate or a development certificate. Verify that the code signing settings in Xcode are correct at the target level (which override any values at the project level). Additionally, make sure the bundle you are uploading was built using a Release target in Xcode, not a Simulator target. If you are certain your code signing settings are correct, choose "Clean All" in Xcode, delete the "build" directory in the Finder, and rebuild your release target.

Hi,
I have a macOS Intel machine running Ventura 13.7.4. This machine is used as a build node for Jenkins to run a test for a USB device that has an HID interface. The test runner for this is Java's junit on Azul's Zulu JDK 8 for mac. I've added the com.apple.security.device entitlement to this JDK 8 bundle and signed using a self-signed certificate. This certificate is available in the system keychain at:
keychain: "/Library/Keychains/System.keychain"
version: 256
class: 0x80001000
On my personal account on this machine, I can run the test and it calls IOHIDDevicePlugin's open function and returns success:
[junit] [debug] [hid.cpp:1457] HIDAccess::Open Success in open for cDeviceHandle: 0x6000006abb38
If I run the same test logged in as the Jenkins agent account, then open returns:
[junit] [debug] [hid.cpp:1484] Could not open HID with handle: 0x600002a5c018, error (-1ffffd3f): (iokit/common) privilege violation
I can see the certificate that signed the JDK bundle running the command:
security find-certificate -c "java-rt-usb" -a -m
The results are the same for both accounts. Is my setup expected to work? I.e. create a self-signed cert in one account with admin privileges, put the cert in the system keychain, sign an app bundle with a new usb entitlement using this cert, and then run that app in another account on the same machine. If it's expected to work, are there any more troubleshooting tools I can use?
ioreg shows the same output for these devices under test in both accounts:
$ ioreg -p IOUSB -w0

I have built my application for arm and x64 so I have two files called DeepSkyStacker.app in different directories.
I have followed the instructions to notarise the arm version of the app, but an concerned about what I should do to notarise the other one - do I just zip that up and then run:
xcrun notarytool submit "DeepSkyStacker.zip" --keychain-profile "Notary Profile for DeepSkyStacker" --wait
xcrun stapler staple DeepSkyStacker.app
again or will that mess everything up?
Related to that can I use the Notary Profile I created for DeepSkyStacker to notarise other apps that are part of the same product (DeepSkyStackerLive and DeepSkyStackerCL)??
Thanks
David

May I ask what the reason is?
I’m having trouble with the notary step of our electron app. It sometimes says “In progress” for days on end, where other times, it only takes 15-20 minutes.
For the last few weeks, I’ve noticed that it will take longer than the 20 minutes if our app was using a not latest version of the electron module -- https://www.npmjs.com/package/electron. I would then update our codebase to build using the latest version, and then try to sign and notarize the app again, and it would work till a new version was released.
This was the first time that that process didn’t work. Everything is on latest, and we’re still getting stuck “in progress” for days on end. We have been signing and Notarizing this app for years now, so it's not the first time we're trying to do this process
To make matters stranger, I have two branches of the same exact code base – same dependencies, same source code, same everything – there is no difference. One sign and notarize works 100% of the time where the other one hasn’t worked yet.
Any ideas would be helpful. I'm not really sure where to begin to debug this.
Thanks!
Context: large platform-agnostic CLI tool built as a handcrafted bundle (not via an Xcode project) that has been successfully codesigned, stapled, and zipped; macOS 14.7.5 syspolicy_check reports
App passed all pre-distribution checks and is ready for distribution.
However, running the executable in the Terminal produces a "cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified" popup. The executable does succeed after manually clearing its quarantine attribute.
Having worked through Resolving Gatekeeper Problems, the only detail logged in the Console is
Adding Gatekeeper denial breadcrumb (direct): ... bundle_id: NOT_A_BUNDLE.
Experimental observations: a minimized trivial CLI executable with a similar bundle layout and name successfully executes without being rejected, and oddly, renaming the original bundle from "name" to "name.suffix" allows it to be successfully executed.
It's unclear why the bundle name would affect Gatekeeper only in some circumstances, and we'd greatly prefer not to rename the bundle for compatibility reasons, so it would be good if there were some way to get further diagnostic detail leading to a workaround - thank you.
In XCode I create and export a notarized app for "direct distribution". I then create a tar file of the exported .app to distribute to my users. Until today this worked fine. Now when the users try to run the app it pops up a dialog saying "app is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the Trash." It is possible to ctrl-click on the app and force it to run but, I think, whether this works or not will depend on system settings and not all users have root access to modify settings. Even simply copying the .app folder from the command line will cause this error.
How do I replace an Apple Developer ID Certificate that indicates it is not trusted?
When I look at my Certificate Expiring 02-20-2025, I see a valid status displayed. (See annotation #1.)
However, when I look at my Apple Developer ID Certificate renewal, I see the words not trusted. (See annotation #2.)
I downloaded the renewal certificate and double double-clicked the downloaded item to place it in my KeyChain. This certificate period is from 01-21-2025 to 01-22-2030.
QUESTIONS
Why does the renewal certificate say "certificate is not trusted"? (Its period is 01-21-2025 to 01-22-2030. Today is 01-27-2025.)
How did the renewal certificate get damaged?
What must I do to get the damaged certificate replaced with a valid one?

Hi everyone,
I applied for CarPlay Entitlements on [Date 4. 26, 2025] using.
(*CarPlay Entitlements Case-ID : 13045151)
I haven't received any updates or responses regarding my application yet. It's been 7 days since the application.
My service requires CarPlay integration with a Black Box device. The primary purpose of this integration is to allow users to configure device settings through CarPlay.
Furthermore, we plan to utilize the "Communication" category of Entitlements to notify users of parking incidents detected by the Black Box device while parked. This functionality is crucial for alerting drivers to potential issues affecting their vehicles.
Could anyone share their experience with the typical turnaround time for CarPlay Entitlements, especially for applications involving device integration and the "Communication" category? Is this delay normal?
Is there any way to check the application status or contact the appropriate team to inquire about its progress?
Thank you for any insights or advice you can provide!
Sincerely,
I have a misterous problem with checking DMG notarization.
It fails:
bash-3.2$ spctl -a -t open --context context:primary-signature -v MyApp.dmg
MyApp: rejected
source=no usable signature
However this DMG installs fine on Big Sur 11.2.2, macOS allows to run this app, and checking of notarization for installed app was passed:
bash-3.2$ spctl -a -v '/Applications/MyApp.app'
/Applications/MyApp.app: accepted
source=Notarized Developer ID
I checked other downloaded apps (Intel or Universal). Some DMG files pass DMG notarization (for example, Audacity), and some fails (PerfectTablePlan). Why?
For my app (Universal) I use the following code to codesign and notarize:
codesign --timestamp --options runtime --force --deep -s "Developer ID Application: MYCOMPANY" "My.app"
// Creating DMG with EULA license
xcrun altool --notarize-app --primary-bundle-id MyApp -u "my@email.com" -p "abc123" --file MyApp.dmg
xcrun stapler staple MyApp.dmg
I use the 'notarytool' to notarize applications and .pkg installers for Developer ID distribution. When using the notary tool with a fresh Apple Developer account, the notarization process remains stuck in the 'In progress' state. However, if I try the same app with an older developer account (one that has notarized at least one app in the past), the notarization works.
All agreements are accepted in developer portal and Appstore Connect.
Hi at all, we started a notarization process and after 3 hours is still in progress.
Hi Team,
I have created multiple certificates for macOS application. Below are the certificates created-
Apple Development Certificate
DeveloperID Installer Certificate
Apple Distribution Certificate
others certificates
Later, I have imported the all these above certificates in keychain-access.
Now, I tried to compile the code through Xcode. I am getting error for code signing certificate.
Warning: unable to build chain to self-signed root for signer "Apple Development: Amit (M2WMF2YERI)”
....
Command CodeSign failed with a nonzero exit code
When I checked the TeamID of User(Amit) I can see that his current TeamID is [P8ZW3W9R2Q].
There is mismatch of teamID in apple development certificate generation.
Note-
All certificates are generated with current TeamID[P8ZW3W9R2Q] of user (Amit) except Apple Development certificate which has been generated with TeamID [M2WMF2YERI] which is generated with old TeamID of user (Amit).
I attempted to generate the apple development certificate multiple times but it is getting generated with old TeamID TeamID[M2WMF2YERI] of user(Amit)
Summary-
While creating a developer certificate using apple developer account and mapping it in keychain, the certificate is being generated with old apple account details (Inactive) instead of the current one. This is causing issues when using the certificate in keychain.
If anyone has encountered this issue, how it was resolved?
Thanks
