A user logs in to the file vault, and DisableFDEAutoLogin is false. The file vault login succeeds, but the login to the selected user fails. The user gets the login screen again. If the user puts an invalid password to try and login again, the loginwindow:FDESupport plugin will change the user's password to the invalid one.

Hi, is it legal to use open APIs to get the users's country country code using the Ip address in the app? I mean I want to know the user country for the game leaderboards data, and there are sites say this is free and open. So, I have two questions, first, is this making the user calling open api to get its country code concept legal? second question, what if these sites suddenly decided that it is not legal to use their apis for commercial use, and i miss that announcement; will you remove my app from the store? or what action will you take exactly?

I have now been looking for a while of a way to get the number of MAU of my appstore app through the apple connect API. I ended up thinking i might actually be able to compute it with https://developer.apple.com/documentation/analytics-reports/app-sessions this App Sessions report. My question is thus the following :
Does the Sessions number actually gives me the number of all sessions, or only those from opt-in users ? It says that it is based on users who have agreed to share their data with Apple and developers, so I was wondering whether or not through the use of the methods described on this page https://developer.apple.com/documentation/analytics-reports/privacy,
it meant that the data was anonymized/encoded such that it would be close to the actual Sessions number, or if it meant it only counted opt-in users to compute the Sessions numer.

We recently transferred two applications to a different account, both of which utilize Keychain and shared app containers. Before transferring the first application, we anticipated losing access to the Keychain and took proactive measures by backing up data to the app’s private container in the final release prior to the transfer.
During the app transfer process, we removed the shared container group ID from the old account and recreated it under the new account. In our testing, Keychain restoration from the local backup was successful, and users experienced no disruptions. However, after releasing the application, we observed that approximately 25% of our users not only lost their Keychain data as expected but also their shared app container data.
As we have been unable to reproduce this issue internally, we are seeking your guidance on how to prevent a similar situation when transferring our second application. At this stage, we have not yet released any updates from the new account, and the Keychain data remains backed up in the app’s private container.
We would appreciate any insights or recommendations you can provide to ensure a smooth transition for our users and make sure we can keep the data in shared container.

I am working on improving Keychain item storage secured with Face ID using SecAccessControlCreateWithFlags. The implementation uses the .biometryAny flag as shown below:

While this approach generally works as expected, I encountered a specific edge case during testing. On iOS 18.3.1 with Xcode 15.4, the following sequence causes the Keychain item to become inaccessible:
Navigate to Settings > Face ID & Passcode and select Reset Face ID.
Before setting up a new Face ID, tap the Back button to exit the setup process.
Reopen the Face ID setup and complete the enrollment.
Return to the app—previously stored Keychain items protected by .biometryAny are no longer available.
This behavior appears to be a change introduced in recent iOS versions. In versions prior to iOS 15, resetting or deleting Face ID entries did not invalidate existing Keychain items protected by .biometryAny.
This difference in behavior between iOS versions raises questions about the changes to biometric protection handling.
Any suggestions are welcomed that might shine a light on what the best practice to use keychain access control and prevent the data to become unavailable.
Hello, I have created an app for both iOs and Android where upon speaking two trigger words, the listening app sends a text and then calls to an inputted designated phone contact. The Android version works perfectly. The iOs version also works perfectly but the iOs app emiits a PopUp for each, the text and then the call asking "Do you really want to send the text -or- make the call". Basically, I input the contact info and I spoke the trigger words. So, yes I want to send the text and make the call. So, I have to click the two PopUps then the device sends and calls.
Is there a way to suppress the PopUps in any way? The app is designed for emergencies. So, a dely to anser a popup is not at all good.
Maybe by telling the device to allow auto calls and texts from my app?

Recently, we received an user enquiry regarding the inability to perform bookings for the app.
After investigation, we found that the issue appears to be caused by the failure of the Apple DeviceCheck service.
Based on our checks, approximately 0.01% of requests fail each day (e.g., on 26 June: 6 failures out of 44,544 requests) when using Apple DeviceCheck.
Could you please assist in raising the following enquiries with Apple Support?
What is the typical failure rate of Apple DeviceCheck? Are there any reliability metrics or benchmarks for its performance?
How can the failures be prevented, or is there a recommended retry mechanism to handle such failures?
Does the iOS version affect the performance or reliability of Apple DeviceCheck? Are there known issues or limitations with specific iOS versions?
How long does the token remain valid, and when should a new one be retrieved?
Does using a jailbroken device affect the functionality of Apple DeviceCheck?

How can we fetch the macOS password requirement(for setting a new password) that are inforce during login for users? Is there a way to get this info in swift programming?
There is a sudden surge of users in our apps with invalidated biometrics. Even though the issue is being handled correctly and the user has another way to login, some of the users forgot their passwords and they can not login.
Is there any known issue with Biometrics in iOS 18.3.2 or later?

Wondering if others have encountered this issue with PSSO 2.0.
We are observing that if, after registration, a user changes their IDP password, they may be prompted for their previous password in order to unlock the Keychain. We are trying to determine if this is expected behavior or if there is a way to avoid it.
To reproduce this, the flow would be as follows:
user registers with PSSO
user logs out and logs back in with their IDP password
user is authenticated (and not prompted for previous password)
user logs out
user changes their IDP password on another machine
user logs in and is prompted to use their previous password to unlock the Keychain.
Failure to provide the previous password nukes the Keychain, which is not an outcome we want.
Any insight anyone has on this issue would be most welcome.

We have been having very high response times in device check device validation service (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/devicecheck/accessing-and-modifying-per-device-data#Create-the-payload-for-a-device-validation-request) since 17 July at 19:10hs GMT. The service information page says the service was running in green status but that isn't the case and we currenly have stop consuming it.
Is it being looked at? Are you aware of this issue? Can you give us an estimate of when it should be working correctly?
WebAuthn Level 3 § 5.1.3 Step 22 Item 4 states the steps a user agent MUST follow when "conditional" mediation is used in conjunction with required user verification:

On my iPhone 15 Pro Max running iOS 18.5, Safari + Passwords does not exhibit this behavior; instead an error is not reported and user verification is not performed (i.e., the UV bit is 0). Per the spec this results in a registration ceremony failure on the server which is made all the more "annoying" since the credential was created in Passwords forcing a user to then delete the credential. :
If the Relying Party requires user verification for this registration, verify that the UV bit of the flags in authData is set.
In contrast when I use Google Password Manager + Chrome on a Samsung Galaxy S24 running Android 15, user verification is enforced and the UV bit is 1.
Either the UV bit should be 1 after enforcing user verification or an error should be thrown since user verification cannot be performed.

Hi everyone,
I’m working an Objective-C lib that performs Keychain operations, such as generating cryptographic keys and signing data. The lib will be used by my team in a Java program for macOS via JNI.
When working with the traditional file-based Keychain (i.e., without access control flags), everything works smoothly, no issues at all.
However, as soon as I try to generate a key using access control flags SecAccessControlCreateWithFlags, the Data Protection Keychain returns error -34018 (errSecMissingEntitlement) during SecKeyCreateRandomKey. This behavior is expected.
To address this, I attempted to codesign my native dynamic library (.dylib) with an entitlement plist specifying various combinations of:
keychain-access-groups
com.apple.security.keychain
etc.
with:
My Apple Development certificate
Developer ID Application certificate
Apple Distribution certificate
None of these combinations made a difference, the error persists.
I’d love to clarify:
Is it supported to access Data Protection Keychain / Secure Enclave Keys in this type of use case?
If so, what exact entitlements does macOS expect when calling SecKeyCreateRandomKey from a native library?
I’d really appreciate any guidance or clarification. Thanks in advance!

I managed to lose my password in a mixup with my password manager. It has taken me a few hours to work out how to reset it. Following the forgotten password link on the sign in page only takes you to a point where you are asked to reset the password on your iCloud user id. If they are one and the same that's ok. Mine aren't.
I eventually found the answer:
in the settings app choose developer
2 scroll to the end and choose the sandbox apple account
3. choose this and reset
I have my custom Authplugin implemented at login (system.login.console), and I want to remove password requirement validation/authentication from system.login.console authorization right. Do you see any functionality loss in completely removing password need at login. And is there any reference which can help me here to acheive this?

I'm developing a C++ plugin (.bundle) for a third-party host application (Autodesk Maya) on macOS, and I'm finalizing the design for our licensing system. The plugin is distributed outside the Mac App Store.
My goal is to securely store a license key in the user's Keychain. After some research, my proposed implementation is as follows:
On activation, store the license data in the user's login keychain as a Generic Password (kSecClassGenericPassword) using the SecItem APIs.
To ensure the plugin can access the item when loaded by Maya, I will use a specific Keychain Access Group (e.g., MY_TEAM_ID.com.mywebsite).
The final .bundle will be code-signed with our company's Developer ID certificate.
The signature will include an entitlements file (.entitlements) that specifies the matching keychain-access-groups permission.
My understanding is that this combination of a unique Keychain Access Group and a properly signed/entitled bundle is the key to getting reliable Keychain access. This should also correctly trigger the one-time user permission prompt on first use.
Does this sound like the correct and most robust approach for this scenario? Are there any common pitfalls with a plugin's Keychain access from within a host app that I should be aware of?

Not getting ASCredentialServiceIdentifier in func prepareOneTimeCodeCredentialList(for serviceIdentifiers: [ASCredentialServiceIdentifier]) when trying to use ASCredentialProviderViewController for autofilling one time codes in iOS 18.
I’d like to confirm something regarding the hosting of the apple-app-site-association (AASA) file.
We have a server that publicly hosts the AASA file and is accessible globally. However, this server sits behind an additional security layer (a security server/reverse proxy).
My question is:
Will this security layer affect Apple’s ability to access and validate the AASA file for Universal Links or App Clips?
Are there specific requirements (e.g. headers, redirects, TLS versions, etc.) that we need to ensure the security server does not block or modify?
Any guidance or best practices would be appreciated.
