RCP 3 and USDZ exports
It appears that Reality Composer Pro 3 does not export a full USDZ file with textures, animations, etc. The best I can tell is that it exports only the mesh (as suggested by the menu name). I have been using Reality Composer Pro 2 to create USDZ files to use as website environments. Will we no longer be able to create website environments with RCP 3? Will there be any way to download and use the old RCP 2 after upgrading to macOS 27 and Xcode 27?

Is GaussianSplatComponent different than other Components?
I have been analyzing Apple's Gaussian-Splats-on-visionOS demo project, and it appears that the GaussianSplatComponent is treated differently than other Components. In the function makeSplatEntity(), a GaussianSplatComponent is created and added to an Entity's components: let comp = try assembleSplatComponent(from: buffers, isLinear: isLinear) let entity = Entity() entity.components.set(comp) But when I check the entity's components collection before and after the add/set, nothing has changed. The entity still has the same children. Is the GaussianSplatComponent stored in a different location in the Entity? If so, is it a public property I can inspect? (Or is my interpretation of the components system wrong?) Here are the results of print statements before and after the set() BEFORE ADDING COMPONENT Entity number of components: 2 Component: Transform(scale: SIMD3<Float>(1.0, 1.0, 1.0), rotation: simd_quatf(real: 1.0, imag: SIMD3<Float>(0.0, 0.0, 0.0)), translation: SIMD3<Float>(0.0, 0.0, 0.0)) Component: RealityKit.SynchronizationComponent AFTER ADDING COMPONENT Entity number of components: 2 Component: Transform(scale: SIMD3<Float>(1.0, 1.0, 1.0), rotation: simd_quatf(real: 1.0, imag: SIMD3<Float>(0.0, 0.0, 0.0)), translation: SIMD3<Float>(0.0, 0.0, 0.0)) Component: RealityKit.SynchronizationComponent

Viewing Gaussian splats while inside the model
I am trying to view immersive environments that are Gaussian Splats created by marble [dot] worldlabs [dot] ai. For example, here is one named "Steampunk City Night View": (Note: the low-res version is 500,000 splats, so I am just testing the first 200,000 splats). But when I try to view it at scale, nothing appears. I tried shrinking it down (scale factor of 0.00595458) and positioning it in front of me, and I could see the content, so the parsing of the PLY file is working. Example: But when I move into the model, it goes clear, also hiding virtual content behind it that is also in the splats' space (like the Mac virtual screen). Example: It is as if when I move inside the Gaussian Splats' bounding box, it sets an opacity material on the splats. This prevents me from using these Gaussian Splats as immersive environments. Is there any way to disable this behavior?

Help understanding subscription rejection
I have a macOS app submission that Apple rejected because of the subscription view. The reason given is: One or more auto-renewable subscriptions are marketed in the purchase flow in a way that may mislead or confuse users about the subscription terms or pricing. Specifically: The auto-renewable subscription promotes the free trial, introductory pricing, or introductory period for the subscription more clearly and conspicuously than the billed amount. The rejection pointed to Apple's HIG for In-App Purchases and an the article Auto-renewable subscriptions. The image below shows two exemplars from Apple's HIG and our subscription view (using Apple's SubscriptionStoreView). I am having troubles squaring the reason for our rejection with Apple's own HIG examples. Does anyone know of a difference between our view and Apple's examples that would prompt the rejection? The only thing I can think of is to remove the "Try It Free " by changing the modifier from .subscriptionStoreButtonLabel(.multiline) to .subscriptionStoreButtonLabel(.price) (Meanwhile, Apple's rejection because of the subscription content seems to have broken my ability to sync the StoreKit content in AppStoreConnect with Xcode(?). I am still trying to resolve problem too.)

Gaussian Splat demo changed, supports USDZ?
Today, I picked up on my work on the Gaussian Splats demo from Apple I was working with last weekend, and it didn't work (I've updated everything to beta 2 this week). I tried downloading a fresh copy of the demo (in case I screwed mine up), and not only does it work, it can load Gaussian Splats data from a USDZ file. Am I mis-remembering what the demo was like last week vs. this week? This feels like major new functionality I haven't heard mentioned anywhere. Is there any documentation/guidance on how to package up Gaussian Splat data (e.g., originally from a PLY file) into a USDZ file?

re-entering website environment fails
I have been working with visionOS 27's website environment features, and I have found when entering a website environment, leaving the website environment, waiting 10 seconds, and then trying to re-enter the website environment, the attempt fails. The thrown error reports: AbortError: Immersive request was superseded by another request Strangely, if I try to immediately re-enter the website environment, I succeed. I have to wait several seconds before trying to re-enter the environment to experience the failure. The workaround is to reload the page. Anyone know why this is occurring or how to avoid it? Anyone know a more graceful workaround than asking the user to reload the page? I have filed a feedback on this: FB23208345

"Open Website Environment" menu gone?
In visionOS 26 (with Website Environments enabled), there was a two step action to enable the environment: click button on the left of the address bar (1 in image), then click "Open Website Environment" (2 in image). This example was shown again this year in Build next-generation experiences with visionOS 27. But I do no see this working in visionOS 27. Instead, I've needed to add a button for the user to open (and optionally close) the website environment. Is adding a button/control to the web page the new way to activate website environments?

website environment and visionOS 27 beta
Is the website environment feature available on this first visionOS 27 beta? I am having troubles converting a web page that used the visionOS 26 website environment approach to the new visionOS 27 approach. Before I keep working on it, I would like confirmation that the feature is working. Also, does Apple have any web pages featuring a website environment that I can inspect?

Transaction.unfinished not getting unfinished transactions
I am testing auto renewing subscriptions for a macOS program in Xcode with a local Storekit file. I have renewals set to occur every minute for testing. I quit the app, and watch renewals appear in the Debug transaction manager window. Each is marked unfinished. When I start the app, I call a function that is supposed to get unfinished transactions and finish them. In one of those "I swore it worked the other day", I am now finding it isn't working. The unfinished transaction remain marked as unfinished. func getUnfinished() async { for await verificationResult in Transaction.unfinished { guard case .verified(let transaction) = verificationResult else { continue } await transaction.finish() } } If I add an AppStore.sync() right before looping on Transaction.unfinished, it works (i.e., cleans up unfinished transactions), but I get an alert I have to click through. do { try await AppStore.sync() } catch { print("DEBUG UNFINISHED: AppStore.sync() failed: \(error)") } Any idea why Transaction.unfinished isn't fetching unfinished transactions for me (without the AppStore.sync)?

Transaction.currentEntitlements returning all transactions
[EDIT: Please ignore. Will delete in a second] Transaction.currentEntitlements is returning the complete history of transactions on a subscription product. I have a program with an In-App Purchase for a monthly subscription. I am testing with a local StoreKit file in Xcode. I configured the StoreKit test file to update every minute. When the program starts, I retrieve the current transactions from StoreKit to see if there is an active subscription. for await verificationResult in Transaction.currentEntitlements { guard case .verified(let transaction) = verificationResult else { continue } // update status for subscriptions This morning's testing is showing transactions for all transactions, both current and past. The current subscription renewal is sent plus all the past renewals that have expired. I thought in my previous testing that only one transaction (i.e., the latest/current) was sent per Product ID. Is this (all subscription transactions) the expected behavior, or should I file a bug report? Example debug output from Transaction.currentEntitlements loop (top transaction is the current one, but past expired ones are provided too; "DEBUG CURRENT ----" separates individual transactions): DEBUG CURRENT: getCurrentEntitlements BEGIN DEBUG CURRENT ---- DEBUG CURRENT: for product pro.monthly DEBUG CURRENT: Verified Reason: Renewal DEBUG CURRENT: Ownership: Purchased DEBUG CURRENT: Purchases: is good DEBUG CURRENT: signed date: 2026-03-26 17:37:12 +0000 DEBUG CURRENT: purchase date: 2026-03-26 17:36:24 +0000 DEBUG CURRENT: environment: Environment(rawValue: "Xcode") DEBUG CURRENT: store front: Storefront(countryCode: "USA", id: "143441", localeStorage: en_US (fixed en_US)) DEBUG CURRENT ---- DEBUG CURRENT: for product pro.monthly DEBUG CURRENT: Verified Reason: Renewal DEBUG CURRENT: Ownership: Purchased DEBUG CURRENT: Expired 2026-03-26 17:36:24 +0000 DEBUG CURRENT: signed date: 2026-03-26 17:35:25 +0000 DEBUG CURRENT: purchase date: 2026-03-26 17:35:24 +0000 DEBUG CURRENT: environment: Environment(rawValue: "Xcode") DEBUG CURRENT: store front: Storefront(countryCode: "USA", id: "143441", localeStorage: en_US (fixed en_US)) DEBUG CURRENT ---- DEBUG CURRENT: for product pro.monthly DEBUG CURRENT: Verified Reason: Renewal DEBUG CURRENT: Ownership: Purchased DEBUG CURRENT: Expired 2026-03-26 17:35:24 +0000 DEBUG CURRENT: signed date: 2026-03-26 17:34:25 +0000 DEBUG CURRENT: purchase date: 2026-03-26 17:34:24 +0000 DEBUG CURRENT: environment: Environment(rawValue: "Xcode") DEBUG CURRENT: store front: Storefront(countryCode: "USA", id: "143441", localeStorage: en_US (fixed en_US))

Website environment disappears suddenly
After I updated to visionOS 26.4, I noticed my website environment would suddenly turn off occasionally while I was watching YouTube in Safari. My M2 AVP was still warm after the update. Is turning off a website environment expected behavior when the headset gets warm (e.g., perhaps to reduce load)? If not, anyone have an idea this might happen?

archive single file to .aar file in Swift
Apple provides sample code for compressing a single file here, but the "aa" command and Finder cannot decompress these files. I needed to write a custom decompresser using Apple's sample code here. Apple provides sample code for creating an "aar" file for directories here and a single string here, and the aa command and Finder can deal with these. However, I have struggled creating an ".aar" file for a single file. The file could be quite large, so reading it into memory and writing it as a blob is not an option. Does anyone have suggestions or can point me to Apple documentation that can create a ".aar" file for a single file?

FYI: Network System extension, macOS update issue, loss of networking
This is just an FYI in case someone else runs into this problem. This afternoon (12 Dec 2025), I updated to macOS 26.2 and lost my network. The System Settings' Wi-Fi light was green and said it was connected, but traceroute showed "No route to host". I turned Wi-Fi on & off. I rebooted the Mac. I rebooted the eero network. I switched to tethering to my iPhone. I switched to physical ethernet cable. Nothing worked. Then I remembered I had a beta of an app with a network system extension that was distributed through TestFlight. I deleted the app, and networking came right back. I had this same problem ~2 years ago. Same story: app with network system extension + TestFlight + macOS update = lost network. (My TestFlight build might have expired, but I'm not certain) I don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but I thought I'd share this in case it helps.
