Is there a way to access an Icon Composer .icon file in Swift or Objective-C? Any way to get this in an NSImage object that I can display in an image view? Thanks.

I just played around on macOS with the new icons created by Icon Composer, and I noticed that the Dock displays programmatically set icons differently. Try this: Make sure you have the Mail app in your Dock. Set the icon appearance to "Tinted/Light" and set a dark (black) background for the Desktop. Run this code: let image = NSWorkspace.shared.icon(forFile: "/System/Applications/Mail.app") if image.isValid { NSApp.applicationIconImage = image } You'll get something like this: When the icon appearance is set to "Default" or "Dark," everything works as expected, and the "Clear/Dark" and "Tinted/Dark" modes seem to work as well. It seems like the Dock uses a special blend mode depending on the selected background, but this does not seem to be the case if the icon is set programmatically. I filed feedback FB20291186.

I use WKWebView to display a webpage that requires authentication through an authentication provider. This works as expected, but when I close and reopen the app, I have to reauthenticate. However, if I open the same page in Safari, I only have to authenticate once. If I close Safari and reopen it, the page displays without prompting me to authenticate again. I see some cookies stored in httpCookieStore, so I assume that storing cookies works. Does anyone have an idea why authentication is not persistent between app launches? Thanks in advance. If I use NSAlert the buttons look like this: The Cancel button has a gray background. We got complaints about the bad contrast and people pointed out that the alerts from System Settings look like this: Here the Cancel button has a white background. Unfortunately I did not find out how to make the buttons in my own alerts look like those in System Settings. Setting the button's bezel color to white did not work. In a project I was using Local Authentication to authenticate a user. When I got a request to support smartcard/PIV token authentication (which Local Authentication does not support), I had to switch to Authorization Services, which works pretty. There's only one issue I have. Local Authentication's evaluatePolicy:localizedReason:reply: requires a reason in the form "<appname>" is trying to <localized reason>. The app is currently translated into 41 languages and I would like to use the localized strings for the AuthorizationEnvironment of Authorization Services as well. The problem is that Local Authentication prefixes the localized string with something like "<appname>" is trying to and Authorization Services does not do this. Is there a way to get this prefix from somewhere so I can manually add it to the (partially) localized string? Any help would be highly appreciated. Thank you, Marc

In one of our applications we use LAContext's evaluatePolicy:localizedReason:reply: to authenticate a user. This works pretty well with both username/password and Touch ID. Now we have a request to add support for smart cards and I wonder if this is possible using LAContext. Otherwise I would use Authentication Services, although that might be a bit overkill since we don't need to request any rights, we just want to see that the user has been successfully authenticated. Or is there a better way? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Marc
