Currently working on a dating app which needs voip for audio and video calls for ios. the voip notifications only comes to the app in active and inactive mode but doesnt wake the device in background or terminated mode. After debugging i noticed that com.apple.developer.voip entitlement wasnt included which i later added, trying to create a build i get the eas error that the entitlement wasnt added to the identifier capabilities. My issue now is that i can't seem to find the voip capability to check in the identifiers capabilities list for the bundle id.d

We are developing a walkie-talkie style iOS app using CallKit and PushKit for real-time voice communication. The app is intended for internal company use and requires unrestricted VoIP push capabilities to reliably deliver incoming call alerts, even in background or locked states.
Our app's use case follows Apple’s guidelines, and we are not using PushKit for messaging or background data. We have already enabled "Push Notifications" in Capabilities and confirmed the provisioning profile, but are unable to enable com.apple.developer.pushkit.unrestricted-voip.
Could someone from Apple or the community advise on the current process to request this entitlement for a production app?

We are currently developing a WebAPI service that uses APNs (HTTP/2) to send push notifications to iOS devices.
(Using PushSharp's HTTP/2 support)
The WebAPI service is running on IIS using .net framework 4.8 and c#.
The connection to APNs is always maintained, and the connection is checked every 30 minutes using a dummy token Ping.
KeepAlivePeriod = 30 minutes and KeepAliveRetryPeriod = 10 seconds have also been set.
However, the following issues are occurring.
Although the Ping sent immediately before was successful, a TimeoutException occurs in the notification request sent a few minutes later.
There is no explicit disconnection notification from APNs, and the connection appears to be silently disconnected.
Once a TimeoutException occurs, it occurs frequently afterwards.
Below is an excerpt from the log.
Apple Notification Failed for some unknown reason 1-1: One or more errors occurred.
Apple Notification Failed for some unknown reason 1-2:System.TimeoutException: The operation timed out.
In light of this issue, I would like to be advised on the following two points.
Are there any official specifications regarding the lifecycle and expiration date of APNs HTTP/2 connections?
Even if pings are sent periodically, is there a timeout or other setting that disables the connection on the APNs side?
What are the conditions that would cause APNs to silently terminate a connection?
For example, could this be due to inactivity, TLS restrictions, network maintenance, etc.?
If you have any official documentation or technical guidelines to improve the reliability of this system, we would appreciate it if you could share them with us.
Thank you in advance.
Hi Apple Team,
we reiceved the following message.
Hello, We’re reaching out with a final reminder that the Certification Authority (CA) for Apple Push Notification service (APNs) is changing. APNs updated the server certificates in sandbox on January 21, 2025. APNs production server certificates will be updated on February 24, 2025. To continue using APNs without interruption, you’ll need to update your application’s Trust Store to include the new server certificate: SHA-2 Root: USERTrust RSA Certification Authority certificate.
Our web service sends token-based push notifications directly to the Apple Push server.
For testing: https://api.development.push.apple.com:443
In production: https://api.push.apple.com:443
We have never installed any certificates for using APNs.
Do we need to take any action regarding this message, or can we ignore it?
Hello Apple Support Team,
We are using auto-renew plans in our app
We have set the webhook URL in our App Store Connect account to get the Store server notification to get the auto renew data for an user
The issue is when a user purchases any auto-renew plan at the auto-renew time, we are getting null data from the Apple side.
We have printed the log's data to check what data are coming from the Apple webhook. we have attached our logs data please check it and let me know what can we do to resolve this

"As we announced in October, the Certification Authority (CA) for Apple Push Notification service (APNs) is changing. APNs will update the server certificates in sandbox on January 20, 2025, and in production on x date, 2025. To continue using APNs without interruption, you’ll need to update your application’s Trust Store to include the new server certificate: SHA-2 Root : USERTrust RSA Certification Authority certificate.
To ensure a smooth transition and avoid push notification delivery failures, please make sure that both old and new server certificates are included in the Trust Store before the cut-off date for each of your application servers that connect to sandbox and production. At this time, you don’t need to update the APNs SSL provider certificates issued to you by Apple."
As we are using firebase for receiving notifications and azure notification hub, I read that there is nothing we as developers need to do and will be handled by the providers right?
I'm trying to provide custom localized descriptions for the iOS notification permission popup in my app, which supports multiple locales. To achieve this, I'm using InfoPlist.strings files per locale with the following keys:
NSUserNotificationsUsageDescription
NSUserTrackingUsageDescription
The issue I'm facing is that NSUserTrackingUsageDescription is working correctly across all tested locales, but NSUserNotificationsUsageDescription only works for some locales.
Locales tested:
Working: ja, tr, fr-CA
Not working: fr-BE, nl-BE
In each case, the correct localized NSUserTrackingUsageDescription appears, but the NSUserNotificationsUsageDescription falls back to the default or does not appear as expected in fr-BE and nl-BE.
I'm using Xcode 16 and testing on both iOS 18 simulator and physical devices, and the issue is consistent across both.
Any insights on whether this is a known issue in iOS or if there are additional steps needed for NSUserNotificationsUsageDescription to localize properly would be greatly appreciated.
Hello Everyone,
I somehow missed to renew the APNS Certificate,
I am new to Apple Ecosystem, I can not see the expired or any Certificates under
Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles
Can anyone help me with this!
In the new update of macOS 26 Tahoe, I have noticed that on my MacBook Air M3, I am not getting a warning when my battery is low or when it's about to go to sleep. My MacBook is just turning off without warning.

Hi, With the upcoming changes to the Apple Push Notification service (APNs) server certificates — including the SHA-2 Root: USERTrust RSA Certification Authority certificate update — I wanted to clarify if we need to take any action with Salesforce.
Hey there my application allows users to have video calls with each other using Agora. I have successfully set up incoming call functionality on Android but on iOS I am struggling to get the call ui to appear when the app is not running/in background/locked.
To my knowledge this is because there is much stricter security on iOS which is limiting me from calling this. When i initially set it up it worked at first when the app was in the background but I think I was failing to report the call to call kit in time and now it's not working.
I'm not sure if I need access to this entitlement:
com.apple.developer.pushkit.unrestricted-voip
Which i believe is only for the big boys or if I make sure I'm reporting the call to call kit fast enough that I won't encounter this issue and it will consistently work in the background.
everytime i get my devicetoken from mdm certification,send to apns (api.push.apple.com 443),always return 400,please help me confirm if the devicetoken is expired or somethine wrong else

Hello,
I am developing a calling service using CallKit and VOIP push.
I have occasionally encountered a strange issue.
The issue is that VOIP permanently fails to receive calls.
I was previously informed that even if the device is blocked, it can receive calls again after 24 hours.
Also, when I checked the device logic, it complied with the policy requirements set by Apple, including correctly calling CallKit's reportNewIncomingCall method.
Once the issue occurs, no matter how many times I try, VOIP does not receive calls, and neither a device reboot nor checking the Device Console Log shows any logs related to CallKit or VOIP.
I suspect this might be an issue with the VOIP token, and I believe that the only way to get a new one is to reinstall the app. Is that correct?
Of course, after reinstalling, it works fine again, but this is very inconvenient. I don't think this is the right solution.
Is there anyone who can share their insights on this issue?
Thank you.
Hi everyone!
I’m integrating push notifications for a taxi-driver app and ran into a blocking CarPlay issue.
When the iPhone is connected to CarPlay (wired or wireless), the push arrives on the phone without any sound and nothing is shown or announced on the CarPlay screen.
If I unplug CarPlay, the same push plays the default sound and shows a normal banner on the lock screen, so the payload itself looks valid.
Environment
iPhone 13 Pro, iOS 18.0
CarPlay head-unit: Xcode 16.2 CarPlay Simulator
App built with Flutter 3.22 + firebase_messaging: ^15.2.5
Deployment target: iOS 14.0
Xcode capabilities enabled: Push Notifications, Time-Sensitive Notifications
App settings on the device: Allow Notifications -› Sounds ON, Show in CarPlay ON
Siri › Announce Notifications › CarPlay: master toggle ON + my app added to the allowed list
Driving Focus = Off (same result if it’s On)
Native setup in AppDelegate.swift
UNUserNotificationCenter.current().requestAuthorization(
options: [.alert, .sound, .badge, .carPlay]
) { _,_ in }
let carPlayCategory = UNNotificationCategory(
identifier: "CARPLAY_ORDER",
actions: [],
intentIdentifiers: [],
options: [.allowInCarPlay]
)
UNUserNotificationCenter.current().setNotificationCategories([carPlayCategory])
UNUserNotificationCenter.current().delegate = self
application.registerForRemoteNotifications()
APNs payload that I send via FCM
{
"aps": {
"alert": {
"title": "New test order",
"body": "Location info test"
},
"sound": "default",
"category": "CARPLAY_ORDER",
"interruption-level": "time-sensitive",
"relevance-score": 1
}
}
What could be the problem? Please help me solve the error
We're building a taxi driver app. Our goal is simple:
Play a notification sound when a new ride request arrives — even if the iPhone is connected to CarPlay.
We use Firebase push with "sound": "default" and "interruption-level": "time-sensitive". The app requests .carPlay and uses a category with .allowInCarPlay.
Everything works when CarPlay is disconnected — we get sound and banner. But when connected to CarPlay:
the push is delivered silently,
no sound is played (even on the phone),
Siri Announce is enabled, but nothing is spoken.
Questions:
Is notification sound blocked when CarPlay is active, unless the app has CarPlay entitlement?
Is Siri Announce the only way to notify the driver audibly in this case?
Would getting a CarPlay entitlement (e.g. CarPlay.communication) fix this without building a full CarPlay UI?
Thanks — all we need is a reliable sound alert when a new ride comes in.
Hi there,
This is my first time posting here. I'm working on small projects on Swift and SwiftUI now and then. I'm currently trying to develop an application that gets some bus arrival data using API and displaying them with live activities. The thing is that I'm not quite sure how frequently updates work yet. Still trying to figure out if I can update the live activity everytime the data coming right from the API changes or use push notification updates each minute passing by, but that is another thread that I'm going to focus with more details.
Everytime i'm trying to deploy my app on my iphone or a simulator this error keeps popping up and I can't figure out why.
Any ideas? Let me know if you need any snippet of my code.

Hi all,
I have a React web app that we use as a Progressive Web App (PWA). We currently:
Use PWA Builder to package it for Android and iOS
Host the app on a secure HTTPS URL
Use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for push notifications (working on Android)
However, on iOS, we are unable to get push notifications to work. I understand that PWAs on iOS have limited push support (Safari only, and not through WebView). So I explored using Capacitor, but:
Capacitor can load a server.url pointing to our hosted app (great for reuse), but push notifications don’t work
If we build the web app locally (npm run build) and embed it in the native iOS shell via Capacitor, push works
We would prefer not to fully merge our authentication and main app UIs if avoidable
Questions:
Is there any approved way to enable push notifications in an iOS .ipa built from a hosted web app (URL) using PWA Builder?
If not, is embedding the web assets locally the only Apple-approved way to get push support?
Are there any best practices or native plugin recommendations (e.g., APNs or FCM) for handling push notifications in iOS app?
Thanks in advance for any guidance. 🙏
Let me know if more technical details would help.
I have integrated a Notification Service Extension in my app to handle rich push notifications with images. The issue occurs on iOS 15 and iOS 18 devices—while the text content of the notification shows, the image is not displayed. However, the rich push notification works fine on other iOS versions (e.g. iOS 16, iOS 17)
I’ve tried the following steps:
Verified App Groups are the same for both the main app and the extension.
Checked the "mutable-content" flag in the notification payload.
Added a print statement in the NotificationService.swift to check if it’s running. It doesn’t appear in the Xcode logs.
I’ve tried using Attach to Process in Xcode, but nothing happens.
The app is installed on a real device, and I’m testing with push notifications when the app is in the background.

I have converted a large part of the data, but only 5% of the data was successfully converted. The failed devicetoken shows "bad devicetoken" when accessing APNS. Here are examples of failed conversions devicetoken. Is there any official documentation for this part?
