Can LiveActivityIntent open the app when tapping a Live Activity button on Lock Screen & Dynamic Island expanded view?
I’m implementing a Live Activity that shows some text and a button. When the user taps the button, I want to open the host app. What I’ve done so far: Implemented a LiveActivityIntent to handle the button tap. The intent is triggered successfully. However, the app does not open by using deep link/universal app link. From what I can tell, LiveActivityIntent seems limited to system/background execution and doesn’t bring the app to the foreground. Questions: Is it possible for a LiveActivityIntent to open the app? Is this behavior a documented/intentional limitation? If not supported, is using a Universal Link or deep link the recommended solution for opening the app from a Live Activity button? Any official clarification or recommended best practice would be helpful.

ApplicationTokens changing
We persist ApplicationTokens in a storage container that ShieldConfigurationExtension has access to. In rare, cases all the ApplicationTokens for a user seem to change. We know this because the Application parameter passed into configuration(shielding application: Application) -> ShieldConfiguration function has a Token that does not match (using == ) any of the ones we are persisting in storage. Interestingly, the persisted ones still work, so I don't believe storage has gotten corrupted or anything. We can use them to add or remove shields, we can use them to display labels of the apps they represent, etc. But they don’t match what’s passed into the ShieldConfiguration extension. If the user goes into the FamilyPicker at this point and selects an app of a token that we are already persisting, the FamilyPickerSelection will have a token matching the new one that is passed into ShieldConfigurationExtension, not the one we persisted when they last selected that app. This leads me to believe the tokens are updated/rotated in some cases. When and why does this happen, and how can we handle it gracefully?

Dynamic Options for Configurable Widgets
Hello, I'm trying to create a widget using the WidgetKit framework. In this part, I'm using Intents along with a DynamicOptionsProvider. As shown in the Medium article below, I want to present multiple options when "Edit Widget" is tapped: https://levelup.gitconnected.com/swiftui-configurable-widget-to-let-our-user-choose-4a54e398f42f However, in this example, the options are provided statically. What I want to achieve is to display a list of devices based on the selected HomeId after the user selects a Home. I’ve set up the interface accordingly, but when I select a Home, the device list does not update. How can I make this work? The two options should be dependent on each other.

Transaction.currentEntitlements returning empty response
Hi there 👋🏻 We are facing an issue that started on 24 June 2025 where some users that have an active subscription with an offer are not being able to use/restore their subscription since Transaction.currentEntitlements is empty. We have tried to call the server with this endpoint https://developer.apple.com/documentation/appstoreserverapi/get-transaction-history and it's returning the correct transactions correctly. Any idea what is happening?

Wallet no longer appear near iBeacon
Hello, We are testing Wallet passes with iBeacons in iOS 26 Beta. In earlier iOS releases, when a device was in proximity to a registered beacon, the corresponding pass would surface automatically. In iOS 26 Beta, this behavior no longer occurs, even if the pass is already present in Wallet. I have not found documentation of this change in the iOS 26 release notes. Could you please confirm whether this is expected in iOS 26, or if it may be a Beta-specific issue? Any pointers to updated documentation would be appreciated. Thank you.

Extreme increase in app storage size after enabling CloudKit
I have a SwiftData flashcard app which I am syncing with CloudKit using NSPersistentCloudKitContainer. While syncing itself is working perfectly, I have noticed a dramatic increase in the app size after enabling sync. Specifically, without CloudKit, 15k flashcards results in the default.store file being about 4.5 MB. With CloudKit, default.store is about 67 MB. I have inspected the store and found that most of this increase is due to the ANSCKRECORDMETADATA table. My question is, does implementing CloudKit normally cause this magnitude of increase in storage? If it doesn’t, is there something in my model, schema, implementation, etc. that could be causing it? Below are two other posts describing a similar issue, but neither with a solution. I replied to the first one about a month ago. I then submitted this to Developer Technical Support, but was asked to post my question in the forums, so here it is. Strange behavior with 100k+ records in NSPersistentCloudKitContainer Huge increase in sqlite file size after adopting CloudKit

AccessorySetupKit documentation
This is not a question but rather a small bit of documentation on how Accessory Setup Kit actually works. I spent a couple days figuring this out so I thought let's share my findings. The example app is very light and the documentation definitely has room for improvement so here are a couple important notes. Findings: If you're running > iOS 18 and add any property to your Info.plist file you're no longer able to scan for devices by using CBCentralManager.scanForPeriphals. This will no longer return discoverable devices. Below iOS 18 these properties in the Info.plist are ignored by the OS and you can safely use the "legacy" method of connecting to bluetooth devices. If you're running > iOS 26 the removeAccessory will show a prompt to the user. If you're running < 26 you can silently remove the accessory and start each session with a clean state. If you create CBCentralManager before you start the ASK session you'll not get the state = PoweredOn. If you have 0 accessories connected to your application CBCentralManager will never enter the state = PoweredOn when you create the CBCentralManager. Pre-ASK this would be the trigger for iOS to ask the user permission. This is no longer necessary with ASK. If you have have 1 or more accessories authorized to your app this will be returned in the session.accessories after the session has started. This is an important indicator to determine app behavior. If you have 1 or more accessories CBCentralManager.scanForPeripherals will ONLY return previously authorized AND discoverable devices. Use this for when you want to connect to a previously authorized device. If you have 1 or more accessories and the CBCentralManager.scanForPeripherals returns nothing you can (safely) assume the user attempts to onboard a new device. So for my application I take the following steps: Check for iOS version, if > iOS 18 start ASK session. Are there previously authorized devices? -- yes: run CBCentralManger.scanForPeripherals -- no: show the picker Did the scan return any devices? -- yes: show UI to select device or connect with first available device in the list -- no: show the picker Feel free to add any of your findings and @Apple please update the documentation!

WeatherKit JWT fails (WDSJWTAuthenticatorServiceListener Code 2) despite entitlement
I’m hitting a WeatherKit JWT failure (WDSJWTAuthenticatorServiceListener Code = 2) at runtime even though the entitlement is present in both the signed binary and the embedded provisioning profile. Confirmed the capability is selected in Certificates ▸ Identifiers ▸ Profiles and added in Xcode target settings. WeatherKit Terms of Service accepted in the portal. Deleted the app, removed any device management profiles, rebooted the phone, clean-built & ran again. Reproduced the issue in a minimal SwiftUI app that calls: WeatherService.shared.weather(for: CLLocation(latitude: 33.8121, longitude: -117.9190), including: .current) – same Code 2 error. WeatherKit suddenly returning JWT errors - no changes
All of my apps stopped working with WeatherKit this morning. They all return an "Error Domain=WeatherDaemon.WDSJWTAuthenticatorServiceListener.Errors Code=2" error. I am certain that the WeatherKit capability added (in project) and enabled as a Capability & App Service (on developer portal for the identifier). All other iCloud features of my apps are working as expected. I have also done all the normal troubleshooting using codesign / security cms, etc. to verify entitlements. I created the following simple project to verify the integration. import WeatherKit import CoreLocation struct ContentView: View { @State private var temp: Measurement<UnitTemperature>? = nil var body: some View { VStack { if let t = temp { Text("\(t.value.rounded())°\(t.unit.symbol)") } else { Text("Fetching…") .task { let service = WeatherService() do { let location = CLLocation(latitude: 50.318668, longitude: -114.917710) let weather = try await service.weather(for: location, including: .current) temp = weather.temperature } catch { print("Error:", error) } } } } } } Any ideas what may be happening?

ExtensionKit and iOS 26
It looks like ExtensionKit (and ExtensionFoundation) is fully available on iOS 26 but there is no mention about this in WWDC. From my testing, it seems as of beta 1, ExtensionKit allows the app from one dev team to launch extension provided by another dev team. Before we start building on this, can someone from Apple help confirm this is the intentional behavior and not just beta 1 thing?

iOS 26 can no longer report sms messages using Unwanted Communication Extension
Hi! Sms reporting is no longer available in iOS beta 26 builds. I can set my app as the SMS/Call Reporting Extensions but the report button is missing for sms messages in the messages app. Xcode 26 beta 7 build the app without errors. This is a breaking change. Same extension was previously broken for calls but has been fixed in beta 7 build, as reported here. It is however still missing for sms messages in the messages app (beta 9 build).

Does "Locked and hidden apps" feature of iOS 18 support deep link?
Our app includes showing external web service with WebView or Safari and returning to the app with custom URL scheme or universal link. When we set "Hide and Require Face ID" feature which was available on iOS 18, neither custom URL scheme nor universal link activated the app. If we only set "Require Face ID", the deep link worked properly. Here is what we've tried: Define custom URL scheme or universal link in the app https://developer.apple.com/documentation/xcode/defining-a-custom-url-scheme-for-your-app https://developer.apple.com/documentation/xcode/supporting-universal-links-in-your-app Implement external web service with one of the following frameworks ASWebAuthenticationSession https://developer.apple.com/documentation/authenticationservices/aswebauthenticationsession/ SFSafariViewController https://developer.apple.com/documentation/safariservices/sfsafariviewcontroller Safari WKWebView https://developer.apple.com/documentation/webkit/wkwebview On iOS 18 device, install the app and set "Hide and Require Face ID" Access external web page and tap the link which activates custom URL scheme or universal link We expected the deep link to work, but the results were: Custom URL scheme & ASWebAuthenticationSession/SFSafariViewController/Safari The system shows "Cannot open the page because the address is invalid" Custom URL scheme & WKWebView Nothing happens when tapping the link Universal link Directed to the server with associated domain file, but the system doesn't call the app which is defined in the associated domain file We tested the feature with the app built with Xcode16 beta 6, and the device with iOS 18 Seed 8(22A5350a). Does hide app feature support custom URL scheme and universal link?

Non-functioning IP_RECVIF on sockets proxied with NETransparentProxyProvider
Hi! I've noticed that the IP_RECVIF socket option, i.e.: int y = 1; setsockopt(fd, IPPROTO_IP, IP_RECVIF, &y, sizeof(y)); does not seem to work if the socket is proxied by a NETransparentProxyProvider type network extension: there's no ancillary data in messages received with recvmsg. As soon as I disable the network extension, recvmsg starts returning ancillary data containing the interface name. This seems to break some applications which rely on IP_RECVIF in the presence of a transparent proxy, making it, in fact, not transparent. One such example is Apple's own libresolv, which relies on IP_RECVIF and breaks if there's no ancillary data in the recvmsg result. I don't think that this is the intended behaviour, since IPV6_PKTINFO seems to work fine. I've filed a bug report (FB17586550) about this, however, I would greatly appreciate if someone could point me in the direction of a workaround.

URL Filter Network Extension
Hello team, I am trying to find out a way to block urls in the chrome browser if it is found in local blocked list cache. I found URL Filter Network very much suitable for my requirement. But I see at multiple places that this solution is only for Enterprise level or MDM or supervised device. So can I run this for normal user ? as my targeting audience would be bank users. One more thing how can I test this in development environment if we need supervised devices and do we need special entitlement ? When trying to run sample project in the simulator then getting below error

CKQuerySubscription on public database never triggers APNS push in Production environment
Hi everyone, I have a SwiftUI app using CKQuerySubscription on the public database for social notifications (friend requests, recommendations, etc.). Push notifications work perfectly in the Development environment but never fire in Production (TestFlight). Setup: iOS 26.4, Xcode 26, Swift 6 Container: public database, CKQuerySubscription with .firesOnRecordCreation 5 subscriptions verified via CKDatabase.allSubscriptions() registerForRemoteNotifications() called unconditionally on every launch Valid APNS device token received in didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken Push Notifications + Background Modes (Remote notifications) capabilities enabled What works: All 5 subscriptions create successfully in Production Records are saved and queryable (in-app CloudKit fetches return them immediately) APNS production push works — tested via Xcode Push Notifications Console with the same device token, notification appeared instantly Everything works perfectly in the Development environment (subscriptions fire, push arrives) What doesn't work: When a record is created that matches a subscription predicate, no APNS push is ever delivered in Production Tested with records created from the app (device to device) and from CloudKit Dashboard — neither triggers push Tried: fresh subscription IDs, minimal NotificationInfo (just alertBody), stripped shouldSendContentAvailable, created an APNs key, toggled Push capability in Xcode, re-deployed schema from dev to prod Additional finding: One of my record types (CompletionNotification) was returning BAD_REQUEST when creating a subscription in Production, despite working in Development. Re-deploying the development schema to production (which reported "no changes") fixed the subscription creation. This suggests the production environment had inconsistent subscription state for that record type, possibly from the type being auto-created by a record save before formal schema deployment. I suspect a similar issue may be affecting the subscription-to-APNS pipeline for all my record types — the subscriptions exist and predicates match, but the production environment isn't wiring them to APNS delivery. Subscription creation code (simplified): let subscription = CKQuerySubscription( recordType: "FriendRequest", predicate: NSPredicate(format: "receiverID == %@ AND status == %@", userID, "pending"), subscriptionID: "fr-sub-v3", options: [.firesOnRecordCreation] ) let info = CKSubscription.NotificationInfo() info.titleLocalizationKey = "Friend Request" info.alertLocalizationKey = "FRIEND_REQUEST_BODY" info.alertLocalizationArgs = ["senderUsername"] info.soundName = "default" info.shouldBadge = true info.desiredKeys = ["senderUsername", "senderID"] info.category = "FRIEND_REQUEST" subscription.notificationInfo = info try await database.save(subscription) Has anyone encountered this? Is there a way to "reset" the subscription-to-APNS pipeline for a production container? I'd really appreciate any guidance on how to resolve and get my push notifications back to normal. Many thanks, Dimitar - LaterRex

Direction data not available with U2 chip (iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro) when using Murata SR040/SR150 accessory
Hello, I am developing with the Nearby Interaction framework using third-party UWB accessories (Murata SR040/SR150). I observed a difference between U1-based and U2-based iPhones: iPhone 12 Pro (U1 chip) NINearbyObject.direction returns valid 3D vector (x, y, z). Distance and direction both work as expected. iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro (U2 chip) NINearbyObject.direction is always nil. Only distance is returned (around 0.35–0.40 m in my test). Effectively behaves as "distance-only mode". Environment: Hardware: iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro iOS version: 18.5 Accessory: Murata UWB SR040 / SR150 App: Using NINearbyAccessoryConfiguration with BLE-based discovery Info.plist includes NSNearbyInteractionUsageDescription Camera assistance was tested both ON and OFF Expectation: I expected the U2 chip to behave consistently with U1, i.e. provide direction vectors when possible. Instead, on iPhone 15 Pro, direction is always unavailable (nil) while distance is returned correctly. Questions: Is this an intentional limitation for U2 chip + third-party accessories? Is there a new requirement (e.g. certification, firmware update, capability flags) to enable direction on U2 devices? Could this be related to NIDeviceCapability or the new Extended Distance Measurement (EDM) mode in U2? Thanks in advance for any clarification.

The relationship between age verification and permission kit isn't clear (IMO)
I'm trying to digest and understand the new set of APIs relating age verification that were released last week. I have say that without some cohesive overview, example app, just a simple diagram showing the relationship of everything, its not at all clear to me what's going on nor what an app developer is expected to do to use these apis (I'm a senior engineer with 15 year's iOS experience, but hey maybe I'm just a bit slow in the head). I have a few questions, but the topic of this post is what is the relationship between age verification i.e. between the declared age range/significant change and Permission Kit? The documentation for the former mentions the Significant Change API/Topic (https://developer.apple.com/news/?id=2ezb6jhj / https://developer.apple.com/documentation/PermissionKit/SignificantAppUpdateTopic). Now the Significant Change Topic is documented as being part of PermissionKit, however the documentation for that (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/permissionkit) States emphatically at the top: "Communication experiences using the PermissionKit framework are only available using iMessage." Meaning you can't use PermissionKit for anything other than iMessage? If it doesn't mean that, then why does it state so? If it does mean that, then how does an app which has nothing to do with iMessage make use of Significant Change - because this documentation:https://developer.apple.com/news/?id=2ezb6jhj Is talking about using significant change for all apps, not iMessage. So there is a contradiction here.

KDK for recent MacOS Sequoia versions (15.6, 15.7RC)
The most recent KDK for MacOS Sequoia that appears in the Downloads is for MacOS 15.5 (24F74), but the current version of MacOS Sequoia is 15.6 (24G84) and 15.7 (24G207) is in RC. Is there an ETA for the KDKs for 15.6 (24G84) and 15.7 (24G207) to be made available to download? Many thanks for any help.

So there is a contradiction here.

iOS 26 can no longer report calls using Unwanted Communication Extension
Hi, On iOS 26 beta, calls can no longer be reported by swiping left on a call. This is unfortunately a breaking change. I have submitted a report on this on June with Feedback Assistant: FB17893517 I hope it will get some more exposure by posting here.
