Simulate Background Fetch Not Working on Real Device, Works on Simulator
Hello Apple Support, I’m facing an issue with Background Fetch in my React Native project. When I click on Simulate Background Fetch in Xcode, everything works as expected on the iOS Simulator—background tasks run smoothly, and data is fetched without issues. However, on a real device, the app goes to the background but doesn’t execute any of the scheduled background tasks, and it also remains in the background without terminating. Here’s some additional context: React Native Project: I’m using React Native to develop this app, and the background tasks involve: Getting User Location: Fetching the user’s location in the background. API Calls: Calling an API to fetch necessary information based on the user’s location. Scheduling Notifications and Alarms: Scheduling notifications and alarms based on the API response data. Simulator vs. Real Device: In the iOS Simulator, all these background tasks trigger and function correctly when I simulate Background Fetch. On the real device, however, none of these tasks are triggered when I try to simulate Background Fetch. The app only moves to the background without performing any tasks or getting terminated. Device and Configuration Details: iOS Version: 17 Device Model: Iphone xs, Iphone 11, iphone 7 Background Modes: Background Fetch is enabled in Capabilities, and I’ve set the fetch interval to the minimum for testing. I’ve verified that all configurations are correctly set, and I’ve tried restarting the device and Xcode, but the issue persists. Is there something specific about Background Fetch that could prevent it from functioning as expected on physical devices? Any guidance on troubleshooting or additional steps would be highly appreciated. Thank you!

Will Icon Composer support development of tvOS and visionOS icons?
In the beta of Icon Composer, I see macOS, iOS, and watchOS icons, but there is nothing about visionOS and tvOS. Those icons are particularly hard and it would be great if this app worked for developing icons for all Apple platforms. I tried asking this in a WWDC group lab, but they didn't get to it and suggested posting to the forum.

How to install cocoapods and pod
Hi, I am developing IOS(Android App) with React Native. I am very confused about cocoapods and pod and how to correctly install it on my new Macbook Pro M4. I am not using bash but I am using zsh. Note, actuallywhich pod return nothing During the preparation of my environment, it say CocoaPods is one of the dependency management system available for iOS. CocoaPods is a Ruby gem. You can install CocoaPods using the version of Ruby that ships with the latest version of macOS. the web site show two commands gem install cocoapods sudo gem install cocoapods I saw another command as well brew install cocoapods During different processes, I experienced several time the following error (Command 'pod install failed) Command pod install failed. └─ Cause: pod install --repo-update --ansi exited with non-zero code: 1 Then I am confused about cocoapods and pod. Are both he same? With my previous MacBook pro, I spend time to install cocoapod on my profile because Ruby was not the latest version on the system. But apparently, on my new Macbook Pro M4, the command ruby -v return (as well) ruby 2.6.10p210 (2022-04-12 revision 67958) [universal.arm64e-darwin25] The current stable version is 4.0.0. I bought a new macbook pro M4 and I reinstalled node and all package for Rect Native 0.81 a expo 54 excepted cocoapods. Now, I need to configure the push notification and it's time to install cocoapods as it's require here But on my new macbook pro, I would like to make sure I do it correctly and I kindly ask your help and recommandation to install Ruby and cocoapods/pod Q1: Should I install cocoapods with brew install cocoapods or gem install cocoapods? Q2: what's is the difference or the common point with cocoapods and pod? Cocoapod web site said If using the default Ruby included with macOS, installation will require you to use sudo when installing gems As ruby -v print 'ruby 2.6.10p210', I suppose, I should not install cocoapod with sudo You can use a Ruby Version manager such as RVM or rbenv to manage multiple Ruby versions, or you can use Homebrew to install a newer Ruby with brew install ruby. As far I understand, I should not install cocoapods with the Ruby version of the system, then I suppose the command Q3: Will 'brew install cocopads' install the latest version on my profile? Will it upgrade the system version Q4: What will do the command brew install rbenv ruby-build rbenv install 3.2.2 (or better: rbenv install 4.0.0) in comparison with brew install ruby My guess I suppose that the following will help, but it would nice if you could correct me and clarify # All should be done in my profile brew install rbenv ruby-build echo 'eval "$(rbenv init - bash)"' >> ~/.zprofile source ~/.zprofile rbenv install 4.0.0 # rbenv global 4.0.0 # What is it? ruby -v gem install cocoapods Q5: But then, what about pod and the error message Command pod install failed. As you can see, I am a bit confused and I would appreciate your clarification I thanks you for your help and clarification and I wish you a happy new years

How to Obtain License File for Main Camera Access Entitlement in visionOS (Email Was Deactivated During Approval)
Hi everyone, I'm developing a visionOS application using Unity with an enterprise developer account. I applied for the Main Camera Access entitlement, but at the time of submission, the email address associated with my Apple ID was deactivated, so I couldn’t receive any email communication from Apple. Later, I updated the email address for my Apple ID. Now, in the Apple Developer portal under Identifiers, I can see that my app has been granted Main Camera Access, and I can also add the corresponding capability in Xcode. However, according to Apple’s documentation(https://developer.apple.com/documentation/visionos/building-spatial-experiences-for-business-apps-with-enterprise-apis): “To use entitlements, you need to include both the entitlement file and a corresponding license file in your app. After Apple approves your app for one or more entitlements, you receive a license file, along with additional instructions.” I never received this license file, possibly due to the deactivated email. I don't know where to find it or how to retrieve it now. What exactly is this license file? If it was originally sent to an unreachable email, how can I request it again or get it resent? Where in the Apple Developer portal (or elsewhere) can I access or download this file? Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Gnu Fortran and Mac OS Sequoia
I observed the following problem: A scientific code to perform Reverse Monte Carlo simulations (‘rmcxas’) compiled with the most up to date version of gcc/gfortran and Xcode including command line tools on Mac OS Sequoia 15.4 on a Macbook air with M4 processor generates the following problem upon starting it in a terminal: dyld[10154]: dyld cache '(null)' not loaded: syscall to map cache into shared region failed dyld[10154]: Library not loaded: /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib Referenced from: <0144F82E-003C-37A9-A544-9AE6336E549B> /Users/markuswinterer/bin/rmcxas Reason: tried: '/usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib' (no such file), '/System/Volumes/Preboot/Cryptexes/OS/usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib' (no such file), '/usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib' (no such file, no dyld cache), '/usr/local/lib/libSystem.B.dylib' (no such file) zsh: abort rmcxas This occurs only about every 5th time the code is started. Help would be highly appreciated.

An Apple Developers Rant.... (So upset...)
Hello Everyone, (and I hope folks at Apple are listening) So around a year ago, I decided to take on the challenge of creating my own Iphone App from scratch. I am an engineer by trade, and thought it would be a fun interesting experience, and maybe make some money on the side. So I bought a macbook, and focused on learning Swift for the next few months. Lots of really great developer folks helped me along the way. And I could not have been successful without so much help. It is very much appreciated. So I finished the app, created my own company. And deployed it to the Istore. Unfortunately, just no interest, I think I sold like 4 copies. No problem, still got to learn a lot along the way. So when it came time to renew my developer licence, I let it expire. Just did not make any sense to drop another $100 into it, since only 4 copies had sold in a year. And then..... this happened!!!! I attempted to use the App that was installed on my own Iphone.... and got the message "My Apps Name" is no longer Available. and it stops... The code is on my phone. I am fully aware that I can no longer use xcode to put anything else on my iphone without a developer licence. But for Apple to reach into my own Iphone, and deny my access to something that I already created, (and in theory already paid for) is just infuriating!!! I checked, and even though it no longer exists in the IStore, purchased copies still seem to function. (one person that bought a copy was a friend of mine). So do I really need to drop another $100, puchase an actual copy of MY OWN APP from the app store, just to have it on my own phone again???!!! So much money and time went into this, that I am considering just smashing every apple product I own, and go with Android instead. I am a single person developer. Almost no one does this sort of thing anymore. Apple used to be the place where innovators could come to try to make something cool and fun to use. I guess not any more. Dan

Trackpad Right-Click (Two-Finger Tap) Support in Linux Guests – macOS Virtualization Framework
Hello, I'm developing a macOS application that uses the Virtualization framework to run Linux virtual machines (specifically Ubuntu and Fedora) on Apple Silicon Macs. I've noticed that while the macOS host properly supports all trackpad gestures, the two-finger tap gesture for right-click does not work within the Linux guest. Only the primary click is recognized. This behavior is consistent across different Linux distributions and desktop environments (GNOME, KDE, etc.). I would like to confirm: Is the macOS Virtualization framework expected to support trackpad gestures such as two-finger tap for right-click within Linux guest VMs? If not currently supported, is there a known workaround to enable right-click functionality for the trackpad in Linux guests? (e.g., configuration changes in the VM, Linux kernel input modules, or framework-level adjustments.) Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

lldb: argument starting with hash disappears.
Here's a simple C++ program that echoes its arguments... #include <stdio.h> int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { for (int i=0; i<argc; ++i) printf("%d %s\n", i, argv[i]); } This works as expected... > ./test arg1 #arg2 arg3 0 ./test 1 arg1 2 #arg2 3 arg3 Running under lldb gives this... > lldb ./test arg1 #arg2 arg3 (lldb) target create "./test" Current executable set to '/Users/richard/Work/test' (arm64). (lldb) settings set -- target.run-args "arg1" "#arg2" "arg3" (lldb) run Process 6138 launched: '/Users/richard/Work/test' (arm64) 0 /Users/richard/Work/test 1 arg1 Process 6138 exited with status = 0 (0x00000000) I get the same if I quote the arguments, or if I add them to the run line. Stepping into main() we see the argv and args values are as though we only had the first argument. If I quote the second argument and add an initial space " #arg1" then it works. I first saw this on an M1 running Sequoia 13.1. It am now on OS 13.3. lldb --version lldb-1600.0.39.109 Apple Swift version 6.0.3 (swiftlang-6.0.3.1.10 clang-1600.0.30.1)

Analyzing crash report
Hello, I'm doing an update to my app already IN the app store. The app is built using .Net Maui targeting iOS, Windows and Android. All works fine in debug and in release on Android and Windows. However, the app launches on my iOS devices and crashes immediately. I really have no idea what the crash report on the device is telling me. Attached is the .ips file if anyone can at least point me in the right direction... Thanks MyApp-2025-03-01-202630.ips

Unable to compile gcc installed from Homebrew
I have command line tools installed: % pkgutil --pkg-info=com.apple.pkg.CLTools_Executables package-id: com.apple.pkg.CLTools_Executables version: 16.2.0.0.1.1733547573 volume: / location: / install-time: 1739567437 Thus clang is installed here: % whereis g++ g++: /usr/bin/g++ I also have installed gcc from homebrew: % /opt/homebrew/bin/g++-14 --version g++-14 (Homebrew GCC 14.2.0_1) 14.2.0 Copyright (C) 2024 Free Software Foundation, Inc. This is free software; see the source for copying conditions. There is NO warranty; not even for MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. However, I still cannot compile any c++ code, even the simplest one: #include <iostream> using namespace std; int main() { cout << "Hello World!" << endl; return 0; } It returned this error: % /opt/homebrew/bin/g++-14 ~/Downloads/try.cpp ld: unsupported tapi file type '!tapi-tbd' in YAML file '/Library/Developer/CommandLineTools/SDKs/MacOSX15.sdk/usr/lib/libSystem.tbd' for architecture arm64 collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status It seems to be command line tools related. But I've already installed the most recent version of CLT and gcc. Additionally, clang can compile the same code: % /usr/bin/g++ ~/Downloads/try.cpp % ./a.out Hello World! What else shall I do to make this g++ compiler work?

Provisioning Profile Does Not Include Required Speech Recognition Entitlement
I am building an iOS app with the App ID: com.echo.eyes.app I have a paid Apple Developer membership and have followed all correct procedures, including: Adding com.apple.developer.speech-recognition manually to the App.entitlements file Setting Info.plist keys for microphone and speech permissions Assigning my Apple Developer Team to the project Setting App/App.entitlements under Code Signing Entitlements Despite all this, Xcode automatic signing fails, and I receive the error: vbnet Copy Edit Provisioning profile 'iOS Team Provisioning Profile: com.echo.eyes.app' doesn't include the com.apple.developer.speech-recognition entitlement. I am unable to add the entitlement via the Capabilities section, and no method I try will allow provisioning to succeed. Please update this App ID to include the required entitlement in the provisioning profile. This issue is preventing all voice recognition functionality. Thank you.

Best replacement for MCL
So, as we found out from WWDC, the migration to Apple Silicon is inevitable. Does anyone have a good recommendation for a replacement for Macintosh Common Lisp on Apple Silicon? I was using it back in the MPW days and struggling to keep the Lisp code working, but Apple Silicon has thrown a money wrench at it! Thanks in advance for any advice on any available Apple Silicon Lisp development tools!

Problem getting Expectation objects (AI slop)
This is from an Xcode generated file. var values: [String] = [] let exp = Expectation() let c = pub.filter { $0 != nil }.map { $0! }.sink( The second line gives an error: "'Expectation' cannot be constructed because it has no accessible initializers". My best guess that Expectation objects come from some other Apple Swift Testing function, but I don't know where.

Errors after importing plugins on other machines via source control
We are trying to setup Apple Unity Plugins, in out project we have a handful of developers who contribute to the project via git. When building and importing plugins via tarball (as instructed in the Github repo) the package clearly points to local path, so once pushed all members encounter the error: An error occurred while resolving packages: Project has invalid dependencies: com.apple.unityplugin.accessibility: Tarball package [com.apple.unityplugin.accessibility] cannot be found at path ..... When trying to actually move content to the package folder (same way as any other unity plugins is setup) and add it as "embedded", it works fine on local machine, but team members will get a few of errors: [Apple Unity Plug-ins] No Apple native plug-in libraries found. DLLNotFoundException: AppleCoreNativeMac assembly ... No Apple Native plug-in libraries found. Moreover AppleCoreNativeMac.bundle is flag as not verified and deleted by macOS. What is the right way to setup unity plugins in a project used by multiple members via sourcetree ?

How to report Xcode 26 / iOS 26 bugs with Feedback Assistant?
I'm running macOS 15.5. I now have Xcode 26 and I'm testing my iOS app against iOS 26. I've encountered several UIKit / iOS 26 bugs I'd like to report. In Feedback Assistant I choose "Developer Technologies & SDKs". Eventually I get asked "What build does the issue occur on?". The list of choices is: iOS 18.2 Seed 4 iOS 18.1.1 iOS 17.7.2 An earlier iOS build I'm not sure So how to I report this as an iOS 26 beta 1 issue?

Developer app on the Mac doesn't play videos in full screen
Hi, Problem When playing videos on the Developer app on the Mac, there is no full screen button for the video. So it is not possible to play the video in full screen. Note I am not referring to the app going into full screen, the issue is with there is no option to play the video in full screen. Environment OS: macOS 26.2 (25C56) Developer app: Version 10.8.3 (1083.3.1) Feedback FB21343934 Recording Question Are others also facing this issue? Is there a workaround? Suggestion This seems to be recurring problem that seems get broken with app / OS releases. Please write some UI tests to ensure the full screen button is present. Would really appreciate if this gets fixed.
