I've recently upgraded to Xcode 16 and noticed a change in how the Tab key functions during autocomplete.
(not-replied-but-closed post: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/255762888)
Previously, pressing Tab would extend the typed text up to the first point of choice.
For example, we have two classes: NSViewController and NSViewCoordinator
BEFORE, typing: "NSV" + Tab used to complete to NSViewCo
Now, in Xcode 16, pressing Tab selects the first suggestion by default, instead of completing up to the choice point.
That is very inconvenient because very often I want just see all possible cases with some prefix...without need of typing all prefix manually.
Seems there is no way to restore the previous behavior and that looks very very sad.
I have reverse engineered Xcode 16...and what I get?
They just install new CodeCompletion handler instead of old one without any chance to configure this behaviour by settings or UserDefaults =\
Hope this thread would raise votes and attract Xcode devs here

Hi everyone,
I'm encountering several issues with Xcode's code signing and provisioning that I haven’t been able to resolve despite several attempts. I’m hoping someone here might have some insights or workarounds.
Issues Encountered:
Team Name Mismatch:
My Apple Developer Program team is registered as Faycel Ayech (Team ID: 3K7UP6P2LQ), but in Xcode, only “Faycel Ayech” is displayed (the Team ID is missing). This seems to be affecting code signing and provisioning.
Incorrect Certificate Association:
The Apple Development Certificate in Xcode appears to be associated with my MacBook’s name (FayTek's MacBook Pro) rather than my personal Apple ID (Faycel Ayech). Despite revoking and recreating the certificate multiple times on both the Apple Developer Portal and within Xcode, the issue persists.
Provisioning Profile Errors:
I receive the following errors in Xcode:
No profiles for 'com.Faycel.DrawCraft' were found.
Invalid trust settings. Restore system default trust settings for certificate "Apple Development: Faycel Ayech (JW6VLM8FNS)".
Simulator Issues:
Due to the above issues, I am unable to run my app on the Simulator (using an iPhone 16 Pro simulator).
Steps I’ve Already Taken:
Deleted and recreated the Apple Development Certificate in both Xcode and the Apple Developer Portal.
Enabled “Automatically manage signing” in Xcode.
Verified that the correct team and bundle ID are selected under the Signing & Capabilities tab.
Cleaned the build folder, restarted Xcode, and rebooted my Mac.
Deleted Derived Data and manually downloaded the provisioning profiles.
Environment Details:
Team ID: 3K7UP6P2LQ
Bundle ID: com.Faycel.DrawCraft
Xcode Version: 16.2
macOS Version: macOS Sequoia 15.2
Device: Simulator (iPhone 16 Pro)
My Questions:
Has anyone experienced similar issues where the team name in Xcode does not include the Team ID? Is this a known bug or a configuration issue?
How can I ensure that my Apple Development Certificate is generated and associated with my personal Apple ID rather than my MacBook’s name?
What steps can be taken to resolve the provisioning profile errors and restore the proper trust settings for the certificate?
I appreciate any guidance or suggestions you might have. Thanks in advance for your help!
Best regards,
Faycel

Hello, im trying to get my app to be able to ask the device for permission to have access to the camera. To do so i created an info.plist and turned off the generate Info.plist file in packaging. I then added what i believe are all the necessary keys. However, when i try to build and test on my phone i keep running an error that says that my app has a missing or invalid CFBundleExecutable in its info.plist.
I tried to fix it by adding
Key: CFBundleExecutable
Type: String
Value: $(EXECUTABLE_NAME)
However, this isnt working. I have already added a BundleIdentifier using my com.name.appname the Bundle version string and Bundle Version. Now im not fully sure what to put to fix this issue.
Is there another way to get the camera to work without having to create an info.plist? Or is this the only way?
When I updated to Xcode 16.2, I couldn't open it; every time I click to start, it crashes and exits, unable to enter Xcode as shown in the picture.
Hello,
Does anyone know where I can find the official Apple documentation for creating custom file templates in Xcode?
For clarity, I mean the documentation for adding to the "File from Template..." wizard that's driven by .xctemplate folders in ~/Library/Developer/Xcode/Templates/
There are some blog posts about it online, and I can inspect the templates built into Xcode, but I can't seem to find the official documentation anywhere.
Thanks!

I am getting following error from one of the pod frameworks while running the app (Build is a success).

I have static libraries and headers of a C++ project that I believe are correctly built for iOS and iOS Simulator destinations. The C++ project is built via CMake with something like:
cmake dirName \
-G "Unix Makefiles" \
-B buildDir \
-DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=installDir \
-DCMAKE_SYSTEM_NAME=iOS \
-DCMAKE_SYSTEM_PROCESSOR=arm64 \
-DCMAKE_OSX_ARCHITECTURES=arm64 \
-DCMAKE_OSX_SYSROOT=$(xcrun --sdk iphonesimulator --show-sdk-path) \
-DCMAKE_OSX_DEPLOYMENT_TARGET=15.0
...
cmake --build buildDir --config Release --target install
I believe those are all the important parameters. This gives me a static library (.a) and headers that I believe should be compatible with arm64 iOS simulators, and I do this same thing for x86_64 architecture with simulators and for actual iOS non-simulator via the iphoneos SDK path.
I'm pretty sure this gives me the correct static lib and headers. Let's assume it does because I'm not able actually create the XCFramework to know if they're right. This does work with a macOS lib and headers, but I need iOS for this library. How do I package this into an XCFramework now?
This Apple developer articles says I should be a able to create an xcframework via xcodebuild -create-xcframework -library libName.a -headers include but when I try to do this with my my iOS arm64 simulator static lib I get:
error: binaries with multiple platforms are not supported '/Users/.../install/ios-arm64-simulator/libName.a
But, when I run: lips -info libName.a I get Non-fat file libName.a is architecture arm64, so, I'm not sure what to do here. Trying to extract arm64 from that static library also produces an error as it it is just an arm64 lib.
I'm not really sure what's going on, but from reading online this specific command, xcodebuild -create-xcframework is a consistent pain point in the process of trying to get an XCFramework, and the seemingly only workaround is to archive a framework project and then create the xcframework via xcodebuild -create-xcframework -archive MyFramework.xcarchive -framework[or -library].
However, how am I supposed to get this static lib and headers into a suitable xcodeproj so that I can archive it correctly? Everytime I try to copy the headers and static lib into the Framework xcodeproj and set what I believe are all the correct settings, my .xcarchive is always empty.
Does anyone have any advice here on how to get this to work?
The main impetus for trying to get this C++ static lib and headers into an XCFramework as that seems like the only valid way to link a 3rd party C++ lib to an SPM package and have the C++ package be interfaceable with Swift.
We have recently developed the iwatch app. We will package the APP + iwatch app and publish it in testfight for test download. However, we often find that after the mobile app is downloaded, the iwatch app is also on the iwatch System application inside display. Click install is always in the installation. It has not been installed. Especially when the phone we tested is paired with several watches. Or delete the mobile APP and download it again to recover. But some situations still cannot be recovered. May I ask why it is always installed? We have confirmed that there is no problem with the network, and the pairing connection between the watch and the mobile phone is normal. This problem has caused us a lot of trouble. I wonder if this will happen in the app store. Please give the official reply

Not a question, but a surprise.
Did I miss something, but apparently there has been no new beta release (16.3) since Release of 16.2 on Dec 11. 2 months without betas is really unusual (in fact, it never happened and usually, next beta n+1 is even released before the final release of version n).
So does that mean 16.3 will be a major update ? Wait and see.
I'm missing something.
I have a project in Xcode 16.2. I have made two commits. I did not tag the commits. I need to compare what is in the first commit to the current state of a file. The instructions say that when comparing files there is a button at the bottom to select the commit to compare with, but I can't find that button. It looks like I can only compare the current state of the file with the last commit.

I'm trying to profile a binary (a simple C++ program compiled into dummy.o) and collect CPU Counters data. I have a configuration that works fine from the Instruments Counters GUI (see Screenshots below).
I've exported this configuration to a template file named prof1.tracetemplate.
Problem
When I try to run a recording with that same template from the command line with xctrace (I also tried with sudo):
$ xctrace record --template prof1.tracetemplate --launch dummy.o
I get the following errors:

Swift 6.1 introduces package traits, which are great. But sometimes one might want to have a trait that is not enabled by default, and in such cases you will still want to be able to unit test them.
Can we get an option, perhaps in the test plan configuration, that would allow us to specify traits that should be enabled when compiling for testing, even if those traits are not enabled by default?
Bonus points if we could have multiple test plans that each build with a different set of traits, and running all the tests would cause the package to be built multiple times, so that all possible combinations of traits could be properly unit tested.

From time to time while I'm editing code, Xcode 15.0.1 says "The file 'project.xcworkspace' has been modified by another application" asking me "Keep Xcode Version" or "Use Version on Disk". I didn't see this before 15.0.1 (or 14.1.1).
Who changed the file? What should my answer be? Thanks.
I have a SwiftUI RealityKit app, and I am writing UI tests for it.
The app has entities that have children.
All entities have an accessibilityComponent so that they can be found by UI tests.
If I set isAccessibilityElement = true for the parent, the UI tests find the parent.
If I set isAccessibilityElement = false for the parent, and isAccessibilityElement = true for the child, the UI tests find the child.
If I set isAccessibilityElement = true for the parent as well as for the child, the UI tests find only the parent.
How can I make parent and child entities both be accessible by the UI tests?
I have a SwiftuI App which includes an App Clip. There is one target for the iOS app and one for the App Clip. All good.
But I want to create a new target for the test flight app so that test users can distinguish it from the App Store app. E.g. Test Flight app has a different icon Asset file in the target but includes all the other source code files.
However, when I try to build the test flight target I see the message:
The com.apple.developer.parent-application-identifiers entitlement (...]') of an App Clip must match the application-identifier entitlement ('...') of its containing parent app.
I can't figure how to do this without messing up the original production App.
Any ideas?
Hi.
I'm currently working on Xcode CI build uploading ipa to TestFlight.
Building archive is successful but exportArchive is failed with error "exportArchive Failed to Use Accounts".
How can I fix this error?
I am now on Day 5 of waiting for our Apple Developer Program approval, and despite multiple attempts to get an update, I have received no meaningful response from Apple.
I have:
✅ Successfully paid membership fee and received invoice for same
✅ Reached out via support tickets, but got 0 replies.
This delay is unreasonable and impacting my work. I am prepared to launch a critical app that aligns with Apple’s ecosystem and guidelines, but Apple’s lack of communication is preventing me from moving forward. After lot of hard work and resources I have completed app development and set up other processes for marketing.
I demand a real update from an Apple Developer Program representative today.
• Not silence.
• A direct response with a timeline for approval.
Apple claims to support developers, but these excessive delays and lack of transparency tell a different story. If there is a legitimate issue, I expect clear communication. If there isn’t, we expect this approval to be completed immediately.
Apple, please address this case today. I cannot afford further inaction.

Hi everyone,
I completed my Apple Developer account enrollment nearly a week ago (ID: G256C6S5Q2), but despite sending multiple emails to Apple Support, I haven’t received any confirmation or reply.
When I enter my account it is stuck on the "Complete your purchase" screen (I received payment confirmation) and nothing happened since then. I ’m eager to publish my app and get started on development, so I really need them to reach out to me—ideally with a call or a direct response.
Does anyone have any advice on how to escalate this issue or any tips on how to get Apple Support to contact me? Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time and support!
