Live caller id lookup - Which secret key is used for PIR database HE encryption on test env
Hi, I'm trying to setup PIR service for live caller id lookup (in python but based on swift example: https://github.com/apple/live-caller-id-lookup-example). The swift example provides utilities for database setup and encryption, but I can't find any specification about which key is used for database encryption and how the ios system knows about this key in order to be able to construct the PIR requests. So my question is how does the PIR service communicate the secret key to ios system or vice versa? (specific to the test environment, before onboarding)

Live Caller ID Lookup & PIRService blocking inconsistent
I've successfully started the Live Caller ID Lookup example and initialized the PIRService. I added several identities to the input.txtpb file, some with block: true and others with block: false. Here is the file but modified phone digits: identities { key: "+40790123123" value { name: "Blocking 1" cache_expiry_minutes: 7 block: true } } identities { key: "+972526111111" value { name: "Blocking 2" cache_expiry_minutes: 7 block: true } } identities { key: "+123" value { name: "Adam" cache_expiry_minutes: 8 block: false category: IDENTITY_CATEGORY_PERSON } } identities { key: "+972526111112" value { name: "Identified Business Name 1" cache_expiry_minutes: 1 block: false category: IDENTITY_CATEGORY_BUSINESS } } identities { key: "+972526111113" value { name: "Identified Business Name 2" cache_expiry_minutes: 1 block: false category: IDENTITY_CATEGORY_BUSINESS } } The main issue is that only the number marked as +40790123123 was actually blocked, while "Blocking 2" appeared as identified contacts with their assigned name displayed. Notably, the only blocked number was a foreign number with a different country code than the number being called. The other numbers belonged to the same country. Can someone clarify whether this is a bug in the example project or an issue with the data file?

Notification when mounting volume on iOS
On macOS, we have didMountNotification but there doesn't seem to be an equivalent for iOS. Is there a way to be notified when a volume is mounted on iOS? I would like to use it in my iOS app I'm currently porting from macOS, which starts a synchronization from the volume (which has been previously selected in a NSOpenPanel) as soon as it's mounted.

After creating the profile using eapolcfg and attempting to connect to the enterprise network, eapolclient connection fails.
I use eapolcfg in Apple's open source eap8021x repository to connect to the enterprise network. 1.https://github.com/gfleury/eap8021x-debug https://opensource.apple.com/source/eap8021x/eap8021x-304.100.1/ Our enterprise network authentication is PEAP. So far, I have created a profile using the following commands and have done the access. ./eapolcfg createProfile --authType PEAP --SSID myssid --securityType WPA2 --userDefinedName MyProfile ./eapolcfg setPasswordItem --password mypassword --name myname --SSID myssid ./eapolcfg startAuthentication --interface en0 --SSID myssid After I performed this series of operations, I passed BOOL success = [self.interface associateToEnterpriseNetwork:network identity:nil username:username password:password error:&error]; Connection will pop up the following pop-up window, sometimes associateToEnterpriseNetwork will fail. I don't know what went wrong, is it that I missed some steps through the eapolcfg [tool?] This function also reports the following error:Error Domain=com.apple.coreWLAN.EAPOL.error Code=1 "(null)" Please answer my questions. Thank you very much

Default payment method option bug?
Hi team at Apple, here is a scenario we came across: The order of priority of payment methods in Apple Wallet follows: Credit Debit Apple Cash Our app displays a payment sheet that excludes credit cards. Instead of a debit card, the default payment option shown to the user on the payment sheet is Apple Cash. Is this a known issue or have we configured something wrong in our end?

Migrating a Paid App to In-App Subscriptions
Hello, I’m trying to change the business model of my app to in-app subscriptions. My goal is to ensure that previous users who paid for the app have access to all premium content seamlessly, without even noticing any changes. I’ve tried using RevenueCat for this, but I’m not entirely sure it’s working as expected. I would like to use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions, so I’m attempting a hybrid model. On the first launch of the updated app, the plan is to validate the app receipts, extract the originalAppVersion, and store it in a variable. If the original version is lower than the latest paid version, the isPremium variable is set to true, and this status propagates throughout the app. For users with versions equal to or higher than the latest paid version, RevenueCat will handle the subscription status—checking if a subscription is active and determining whether to display the paywall for premium features. In a sandbox environment, it seems to work fine, but I’ve often encountered situations where the receipt doesn’t exist. I haven’t found a way to test this behavior properly in production. For example, I uploaded the app to TestFlight, but it doesn’t validate the actual transaction for a previously purchased version of the app. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it seems TestFlight doesn’t confirm whether I installed or purchased a paid version of the app. I need to be 100% sure that users who previously paid for the app won’t face any issues with this migration. Is there any method to verify this behavior in a production-like scenario that I might not be aware of? I’m sharing the code here to see if you can confirm that it will work as intended or suggest any necessary adjustments. func fetchAppReceipt(completion: @escaping (Bool) -> Void) { // Check if the receipt URL exists guard let receiptURL = Bundle.main.appStoreReceiptURL else { print("Receipt URL not found.") requestReceiptRefresh(completion: completion) return } // Check if the receipt file exists at the given path if !FileManager.default.fileExists(atPath: receiptURL.path) { print("The receipt does not exist at the specified location. Attempting to fetch a new receipt...") requestReceiptRefresh(completion: completion) return } do { // Read the receipt data from the file let receiptData = try Data(contentsOf: receiptURL) let receiptString = receiptData.base64EncodedString() print("Receipt found and encoded in base64: \(receiptString.prefix(50))...") completion(true) } catch { // Handle errors while reading the receipt print("Error reading the receipt: \(error.localizedDescription). Attempting to fetch a new receipt...") requestReceiptRefresh(completion: completion) } } func validateAppReceipt(completion: @escaping (Bool) -> Void) { print("Starting receipt validation...") guard let receiptURL = Bundle.main.appStoreReceiptURL else { print("Receipt not found on the device.") requestReceiptRefresh(completion: completion) completion(false) return } print("Receipt found at URL: \(receiptURL.absoluteString)") do { let receiptData = try Data(contentsOf: receiptURL, options: .alwaysMapped) print(receiptData) let receiptString = receiptData.base64EncodedString(options: []) print("Receipt encoded in base64: \(receiptString.prefix(50))...") let request = [ "receipt-data": receiptString, "password": "c8bc9070bf174a8a8df108ef6b8d2ae3" // Shared Secret ] print("Request prepared for Apple's validation server.") guard let url = URL(string: "https://buy.itunes.apple.com/verifyReceipt") else { print("Error: Invalid URL for Apple's validation server.") completion(false) return } print("Validation URL: \(url.absoluteString)") var urlRequest = URLRequest(url: url) urlRequest.httpMethod = "POST" urlRequest.httpBody = try? JSONSerialization.data(withJSONObject: request) URLSession.shared.dataTask(with: urlRequest) { data, response, error in if let error = error { print("Error sending the request: \(error.localizedDescription)") completion(false) return } guard let data = data else { print("No response received from Apple's server.") completion(false) return } print("Response received from Apple's server.") do { if let json = try JSONSerialization.jsonObject(with: data) as? [String: Any] { print("Response JSON: \(json)") // Verify original_application_version if let receipt = json["receipt"] as? [String: Any], let appVersion = receipt["original_application_version"] as? String { print("Original application version found: \(appVersion)") // Save the version in @AppStorage savedOriginalVersion = appVersion print("Original version saved in AppStorage: \(appVersion)") if let appVersionNumber = Double(appVersion), appVersionNumber < 1.62 { print("Original version is less than 1.62. User considered premium.") isFirstLaunch = true completion(true) } else { print("Original version is not less than 1.62. User is not premium.") completion(false) } } else { print("Could not find the original application version in the receipt.") completion(false) } } else { print("Error parsing the response JSON.") completion(false) } } catch { print("Error processing the JSON response: \(error.localizedDescription)") completion(false) } }.resume() } catch { print("Error reading the receipt: \(error.localizedDescription)") requestReceiptRefresh(completion: completion) completion(false) } } Some of these functions might seem redundant, but they are intended to double-check and ensure that the user is not a previous user. Is there any way to be certain that this will work when the app is downloaded from the App Store? Thanks in advance!

UE 5.4 Game Instantly Crash on iOS devices on Testflight
Hi, I'm working on a game for the past few years using first Unreal Engine 4, and now Unreal Engine 5.4.4. I'm experiencingan unusual crash on startup on some devices . The crash is so fast that I'm barely able to see the launching screen sometimes because the app closes itself before that. I got a EXC_CRASH (SIGABRT) so I know that it's a null pointer reference, but I can't quite wrap my head about the cause, I think that's something messed up in the packaging of the app, but here is where I'm blocked, I'm not that accustomed with apple devices. If someone has some advise to give, please, any help will be very valuable. Many thanks. Log : Crash Log on Ipad

Transitioning a freemium app to StoreKit 2
I'm currently working on transitioning to StoreKit 2. In order to see if my users are legacy users who purchased the app before I implemented an in-app purchase, I am trying to use the original purchase date for the app. Unfortunately, it's returning 0 seconds since 1970. func updateOriginalPurchaseStatus() async throws { let transaction = try await checkVerified(AppTransaction.shared) self.originalPurchaseVersion = transaction.originalAppVersion self.originalPurchaseDate = transaction.originalPurchaseDate } This is from the transaction: [3] = { key = "originalPurchaseDate" value = number (number = 0) } Currently trying to figure out when I actually purchased the app, but it might be as early as 2012. And I likely used a download code.

Resolving URL from bookmark data doesn't automatically mount SMB volume on iOS
On macOS, the Finder allows to connect to a server and store the login credentials. When creating a bookmark to a file on a server and resolving it again, the server is mounted automatically (unless I provide the option URL.BookmarkResolutionOptions.withoutMounting). I just tried connecting to my Mac from my iPad via SMB in the Files app and storing a bookmark to a file on the server, but disconnecting the server and trying to resolve the bookmark throws the error (I translated the English text from Italian): Error Domain=NSFileProviderErrorDomain Code=-2001 "No file provider was found with the identifier "com.apple.SMBClientProvider.FileProvider"'" UserInfo={NSLocalizedDescription=No file provider was found with the identifier "com.apple.SMBClientProvider.FileProvider"., NSUnderlyingError=0x302a1a340 {Error Domain=NSFileProviderErrorDomain Code=-2013 "(null) "}} Every time I disconnect and reconnect to the server, selecting the same file returns a different path. The first time I got /private/var/mobile/Library/LiveFiles/com.apple.filesystems.smbclientd/WtFD3Ausername/path/to/file.txt The next time WtFD3A changed to EqHc2g and so on. Is it not possible to automatically mount a server when resolving a bookmark on iOS? The following code allows to reproduce the issue: struct ContentView: View { @State private var isPresentingFilePicker = false @AppStorage("bookmarkData") private var bookmarkData: Data? @State private var url: URL? @State private var stale = false @State private var error: Error? var body: some View { VStack { Button("Open") { isPresentingFilePicker = true } if let url = url { Text(url.path) } else if bookmarkData != nil { Text("couldn't resolve bookmark data") } else { Text("no bookmark data") } if stale { Text("bookmark is stale") } if let error = error { Text("\(error)") .foregroundStyle(.red) } } .padding() .fileImporter(isPresented: $isPresentingFilePicker, allowedContentTypes: [.data]) { result in do { let url = try result.get() if url.startAccessingSecurityScopedResource() { bookmarkData = try url.bookmarkData() } } catch { self.error = error } } .onChange(of: bookmarkData, initial: true) { _, bookmarkData in if let bookmarkData = bookmarkData { do { url = try URL(resolvingBookmarkData: bookmarkData, bookmarkDataIsStale: &stale) } catch { self.error = error } } } } }

Validating receipt for iOS in-app purchase always returns error 21002
I'm receiving the following error when attempting to validate an in‑app purchase receipt: Certificate verification failed at depth 0 : forge.pki.UnknownCertificateAuthority Certificate chain validation failed: Certificate is not trusted. This error occurs during the certificate chain validation process of the receipt's PKCS#7 container. My implementation uses node‑forge to decode the receipt, extract the embedded certificate chain, and verify that the chain properly links from the leaf certificate (which directly signed the receipt) through the intermediate certificate to the trusted Apple Inc. Root certificate. What the Error Indicates: "UnknownCertificateAuthority" at depth 0: This suggests that the leaf certificate in the receipt is not being recognized as part of a valid chain because it cannot be linked back to a trusted root in my CA store. "Certificate chain validation failed: Certificate is not trusted": This means that the entire certificate chain does not chain up to a trusted certificate authority (in this case, the Apple Inc. Root certificate) as expected. Steps Taken: I verified that the receipt is a valid PKCS#7 container. I extracted the certificate chain from the receipt. However, the receipt only provided the leaf certificate. I manually added the intermediate certificate (AppleWWDRCAG5.pem) to complete the chain. I loaded the official Apple Inc. Root certificate (AppleIncRootCertificate.pem) into my CA store. Despite these steps, the validation still fails at depth 0, indicating that the leaf certificate is not recognized as being issued by a trusted authority. Request for Assistance: Could you please help clarify the following points: Is the certificate chain for receipts (leaf → intermediate → Apple Inc. Root) as expected, or has there been any change in the chain that I should account for? Is there a recommended or updated intermediate certificate I should be using for receipt validation? Are there known issues or recent changes on Apple's side that might cause the leaf certificate to not be recognized as part of a valid chain? Any guidance to resolve this certificate chain validation error would be greatly appreciated.

Push notifications to api.push.apple.com sometimes fail
We have a case when we send 8 push notifications more or less simultaneously over 1 HTTP 2.0 connection. Using .NET Core 8 Sometimes some of them fail with a strange message: System.Net.Http.HttpRequestException: The response ended prematurely while waiting for the next frame from the server. (ResponseEnded) ---> System.Net.Http.HttpIOException: The response ended prematurely while waiting for the next frame from the server. (ResponseEnded) at System.Net.Http.Http2Connection.ThrowRequestAborted(Exception innerException) at System.Net.Http.Http2Connection.Http2Stream.TryEnsureHeaders() at System.Net.Http.Http2Connection.Http2Stream.ReadResponseHeadersAsync(CancellationToken cancellationToken) at System.Net.Http.Http2Connection.SendAsync(HttpRequestMessage request, Boolean async, CancellationToken cancellationToken) --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at System.Net.Http.Http2Connection.SendAsync(HttpRequestMessage request, Boolean async, CancellationToken cancellationToken) at System.Net.Http.HttpConnectionPool.SendWithVersionDetectionAndRetryAsync(HttpRequestMessage request, Boolean async, Boolean doRequestAuth, CancellationToken cancellationToken) at System.Net.Http.RedirectHandler.SendAsync(HttpRequestMessage request, Boolean async, CancellationToken cancellationToken) at System.Net.Http.DecompressionHandler.SendAsync(HttpRequestMessage request, Boolean async, CancellationToken cancellationToken) at Microsoft.Extensions.Http.Logging.HttpClientLoggerHandler.SendAsync(HttpRequestMessage request, CancellationToken cancellationToken) We noticed that failure is always accompanied with a huge delay (~500ms) comparing to success (~20ms). Also some of the burst messages are sent successfully (sometimes 2-4 of them) What can we do about it?

IAP StoreKit2 Can Not Fectch Products
I am currently using StoreKit2 to set up the in-app purchase subscription flow, and I have already configured the subscription products in App Connect. I created a StoreKit Configuration file in Xcode and used it in the scheme. However, after completing the purchase, the transaction.jsonRepresentation data returns a transactionId of 0. After checking the documentation, I found that I need to disable the StoreKit Configuration and enable Sandbox Testing. But after disabling the StoreKit Configuration, I can't retrieve the real product data using Product.products(for: productIds). I can confirm that the ProductId I provided is real and matches the data configured in App Connect. Could you please help me identify the issue? Thank you

Verify Receipt is not found - After successful payment for Annual subscription.
The application is developed with Xamarin Framework and it is live now. The customer installed the app and purchased the annual subscription. And for some reason, they uninstall and reinstall the application on the same device. Now user wants to restore the subscription. In the application, there is an option to Restore the subscription. But restore API not return purchase details. But when clicking the subscription button instead of restoring the subscription, it says you subscribed to this plan". is there any possibility of not getting VerifyRecipt even after a successful purchase?

When Using Callkit audio doesn't have permission to work
I am creating a voip app, I am trying to use call kit to answer calls, however audio doesn't seem to work when using callKit when looking at the systems logs I see no server connection when checking background audio state, won't allow background audio! background audio processAllowed = 0 for displayID com.apple.TelephonyUtilities no server connection when checking background audio state, won't allow background audio! background audio processAllowed = 0 for displayID {my app id} I have the plist entries for background ui modes for voip, audio, fetch and background notifications along with the backgrounds modes for Voip, Audio, AirPlay, and Picture in Picture, Background notifications. I am unsure what to do about this, like my reading of the error is I can't use audio cause I am not connected to a server, but like is it any server, Am I suppose to connect to the voip call before setting up audio, I am not sure how to do that.

Can we create a bundled non-interactive macOS application which uses CFRunLoop only(instead of using NSApplicationMain to run NSRunLoop)?
I am developing a macOS non-interactive macOS application which does not show any ui. i want to block main thread and do all the work on worker thread . Once done with work in worker thread, want to unblock main thread by exiting event loop to terminate application. Because i dont want to show any UI or use any Foundation/Cocoa functionality, i am thinking of using CFRunLoop to block main thread from exiting until i finish my work in worker thread. When i tried this in a project, I am able to finish work in worker thread after block main thread using CFRunLoop. I also want this application to be a bundled application, which can be launched by double clicking on application bundle . But when i tried it in my xcode project by launching it using double clicking on application bundle, application keeps on toggling/bouncing in the dock menu with a status "Not responding". Although i am able to complete my work in worker thread. import Foundation let runLoop = CFRunLoopGetCurrent() func workerTask() { DispatchQueue.global().async { print("do its work") sleep(5) // do some work print("calling exit event loop") CFRunLoopStop(runLoop) print ("unblocking main thread") } } workerTask () // blocking main thread print ("blocked main thread") CFRunLoopRun() print ("exit") Why i am getting this application bouncing in doc menu behavior ? I tried by using NSApplicationMain instead of CFRunLoop in my project, in that case i didnt get this behavior . Does NSApplicationMain does some extra work before starting NSRunLoop which i am not doing while using CFRunLoop, which is showing this toggling/Bouncing application icon in Dock menu ? or Is this bouncing app icon issue is related to run loop i am using which is CFRunLoop ? Note : If i dont use a bundled application and use a commandline application then i am able to do all steps in worker thread and exit main thread as i wanted after finishing my work . But i need to do all this in application which can be launched using double clicking (bundled applcation). If not by using CFRunLoop, then how can i achive this ? - Create a application which shows no UI and do all work in worker thread while main thread is blocked. Once work is done unblock main thread and exit. And user should be able to launch application using double click the application icon.

Communicating between app & ui test runner
I'd like to set up a communication mechanism between the Ui test runner and my iOS app. The purpose is to be able to collect some custom performance metrics in addition to standard ones like scrollingAndDecelerationMetric. Let's say we measure some specific intervals in our code using signposts, then serialize the result into a structured payload and report it back to the runner. So, are there any good options for that kind of IPC? The primary concern is running on Simulator. However, since it is not a regular UI test but more a performance UI test, and it is usually recommended to run those on a real device, with release optimizations/flags in place, I wonder if it is feasible to have it for device too.

A script to open files from Finder in Vim
Here is an AppleScript script to make it possible double-click files in Finder so that they will be opened in Vim, by Normen Hansen: https://github.com/normen/vim-macos-scripts/blob/master/open-file-in-vim.applescript (it must be used from Automator). I try to simplify it and also to make it possible to use it without Automator. To use my own version, you only need to save it as application instead, like this: osacompile -o open-with-vim.app open-with-vim.applescript and then copy it to /Applications and set your .txt files to be opened using this app. Here it is, it alsmost works: -- https://github.com/normen/vim-macos-scripts/blob/master/open-file-in-vim.applescript -- opens Vim with file or file list -- sets current folder to parent folder of first file on open theFiles set command to {} if input is null or input is {} or ((item 1 in input) as string) is "" then -- no files, open vim without parameters set end of command to "vim;exit" else set firstFile to (item 1 of theFiles) as string tell application "Finder" to set pathFolderParent to quoted form of (POSIX path of ((folder of item firstFile) as string)) set end of command to "cd" & space & (pathFolderParent as string) set end of command to ";hx" -- e.g. vi or any other command-line text editor set fileList to {} repeat with i from 1 to (theFiles count) set end of fileList to space & quoted form of (POSIX path of (item i of theFiles as string)) end repeat set end of command to (fileList as string) set end of command to ";exit" -- if Terminal > Settings > Profiles > Shell > When the shell exits != Don't close the window end if set command to command as string set myTab to null tell application "Terminal" if it is not running then set myTab to (do script command in window 1) else set myTab to (do script command) end if activate end tell return end open The only problem is the if block in the very beginning: if input is null or input is {} or ((item 1 in input) as string) is "" then What is wrong here? How to make it work? (Assuming it already works fine if AppleScript is used using Automator.)
