Live Activity - ActivityState - case .dismissed
Hi everyone, I'm working with Live Activities using the ActivityKit(Activity), and I'm trying to find a way to detect when a user manually dismisses a Live Activity by swiping it away — either from the Lock Screen or the Dynamic Island. Currently, when a Live Activity ends, the activityState changes to .dismissed, which is defined as: /// The Live Activity ended and is no longer visible because a person or the system removed it. case dismissed This doesn’t allow me to determine whether the dismissal was triggered by the user or by the system. Is there any way — either through ActivityState, notifications, or another approach — to distinguish if a Live Activity was manually dismissed by the user vs. ended by the system? Thanks in advance!

NFCTagReaderSession - Missing required entitlement

Weatherkit API Historical 404 Errors Starting 3/5/25
We've been using the WeatherKit API for a few years now. Everything has been pretty stable. We'll periodically get 404 errors, but they usually disappear within a couple days. Starting March 5th we've again been getting 404 errors that slowly ramped up to March 20th and continued. We have had no code changes on our end, so something seems to have changed / broken on the server side of things. About the Relay payload in iOS configuration profiles
Are the network relays introduced in 2023 and https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2023/10002/ the same thing as the Private Relay introduced in 2021? https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2021/10096/ We are considering verifying the relay function, but we are not sure whether they are the same function or different functions. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/devicemanagement/relay?language=objc

How to debug a CoreSpotlight extension?
My CoreSpotlight extension seems to exceed the 6 MB memory limit. What’s the best way to debug this? I've tried to attach the debugger on the Simulator but the extension seems to be never launched when I trigger the reindex from Developer settings. Is this supposed to work? On device, I am able to attach the debugger. However, I can neither transfer the debug session to Instruments, nor display the memory graph. So I've no idea how the memory is used. Any recommendations how to move forward? Is there a way to temporarily disable the memory limit since even with LLDB attached, the extension is killed.

Reporting to External Purchase Server API when using alternative PSP in the EU
Dear community, Context My company operates in the European Union, where not so long ago there appeared the possibility to accept an ["Alternative Terms Addendum for Apps in the EU"] (https://developer.apple.com/contact/request/download/alternate_eu_terms_addendum.pdf), which, among others, gives us the possibility to use an alternative payment provider, other than Apple's In App Purchase PSP system (ref: Apple docs). My company did accept it and was granted the StoreKit External Purchase Entitlement (com.apple.developer.storekit.external-purchase) entitlement, with which we integrated a different PSP, so now we want to incorporate the reporting to Apple's External Purchase Server API. We are currently integrating with the External Purchase Server API and have encountered a couple of issues I would appreciate clarification on: Question 1 Is there a way to retrieve an overview or summary of the current subscription states on Apple’s servers as a result of the submitted reports to External Purchase Server API? Specifically, I would like to verify the expected outcomes before the monthly invoice is issued by Apple and to understand the subscription states for the test users I used during this process and for future reference as well. Question 2 In one scenario, I initiated a one-year subscription, and in the middle of its period, I submitted a RENEWAL for one month with a higher price. I expected the request to fail due to overlapping periods and/or pricing conflicts, but both submissions were accepted without error. Do you have an idea about: What happens at the end of the renewed month? Will the subscription continue with the renewed (higher) amount, revert to the original (lower) annual rate, or be canceled? Where can I view the final state and billing plan for that subscription? Thank you for your assistance, we are looking forward for any kind of help or information regarding this topic.

Weatherkit - visibility units and height
reposting this in case it got missed the first time around here https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/775900 We had a question that came up when we comparing data from WeatherKit to other sources - WeatherKit visibility was well beyond the boundaries we had historically, even from Darksky. That raises two questions: is visibility actually in meters like the docs say? is this visibility at ground level, 500ft, or some other height? We were seeing visibility numbers of up to 40 miles (after converting the number the API sent to miles), where all of our other sources are usually within 10 miles

NSFileCoordinator Swift Concurrency
I'm working on implementing file moving with NSFileCoordinator. I'm using the slightly newer asynchronous API with the NSFileAccessIntents. My question is, how do I go about notifying the coordinator about the item move? Should I simply create a new instance in the asynchronous block? ApplePay: Flexible payments/scheduling
On Applepay's docs it talks about the ability to do "flexible" payments and scheduling for future purchases. We need to be able to make only a single approval of an Apple payment for multiple submissions later on. Think, deferred payments at an arbitrary schedule without presenting the ApplePay dialog each and every time. The docs suggest that may be possible, but are maddeningly vague on how to do that. Is it possible or not? Can we store an approved merchant's token for example and leverage that for future transactions?

Decrypting Apple Token
I am currently working on decrypting Apple Pay tokens with Laravel PHP, and I have encountered a few uncertainties regarding the decryption process and the usage of AES-GCM. Could you please clarify the following points: Algorithm Confirmation: Am I using the correct algorithm for decrypting the data key? Specifically, I am utilizing AES-256-GCM with the algorithm ID "id-aes256-GCM" (2.16.840.1.101.3.4.1.46), as specified in the documentation. Is this the recommended algorithm for decrypting the Apple Pay token's data key? Authentication Tag: In the decryption process, it seems that an authentication tag is required, but I am not sure where to obtain it from. Could you confirm how the authentication tag is generated or provided during the encryption process? If the tag is part of the token or is transmitted separately, could you clarify where I can retrieve it in order to proceed with the decryption successfully? IV and Other Parameters: I am using an initialization vector (IV) of 16 null bytes (00000000000000000000000000000000) as specified in the documentation. Could you confirm that this is correct and aligns with the expected parameters for the AES-GCM decryption? Are there any other specific parameters or considerations I should be aware of when implementing the decryption of Apple Pay tokens? GCM vs Other Encryption Modes: Can you confirm that AES-GCM is the preferred and required encryption mode, or is there any flexibility to use other modes (e.g., AES-CBC) without compromising security? Car play mirroring with flexy limitation and what about new Gen. of Carplay that gonna launch end of this year?
right now it looks like the app type must follow the guidelines like Messenger app, Navigate app, and Music app only. What about the Automotive app itself, What is the flexibility of it? We have an app for service cars for one brand (officially)(car users around 1m+). but we looking to merge the experience between outside the car and inside the car. Can we top up some features on the app to share some information that is a part of the car like trip calculation or car info display on the screen? or services time to notice them? And following that question can we know about the exact spot or brief from Apple car play for now and next-gen? Or can we work with your team closely as a partner? to make things happen and develop it to be a flagship product, we can share some data and talk about it with real insight.

Parameter recognition on AppShortcuts invocation not consistent
While playing around with AppShortcuts I've been encountering some problems around getting the invocation phrase detected and/or the parameter get recognized after invocation phrase via Siri. I've found some solutions or explanations here in other posts (Siri not recognizing the parameter in the phrase & Inform iOS about AppShortcutsProvider), but I still have one issue and it's about consistency. For context, I've defined the parameter to be an AppEntity with it's respective query conforming to the EntityStringQuery Protocol in order to be able to fetch entities with the string given by Siri struct AnIntent: AppIntent { // other parts hidden for clarity @Parameter var entity: ModelEntity } For an invocation phrase akin to "Do something with in ", if the user uses the phrase with a entity previously donated via suggestedEntities() the AppShortcut get executed without problems. If the user uses a phrase with no parameter, like "do something with ", if the user gets asked to input the missing parameter and inputs one, it may or may not get recognized and be asked to input a parameter again, like in a loop. This happens even if the parameter given is one that was donated. I've found that when this happens the entities(matching string: String) function in the EntityQuery doesn't get called. The input can be of one word or sometimes two and it will not be called. So in other words entities(matching string: String) does not get called on every user parameter input Is this behavior correct? Do parameters have some restrictions on length or anything? Does Siri shows the user suggested entities when asked for entity input? It doesn't on my end. Additional question related to AppShortcuts: On AppShortcut definition, where the summary inside the parameter presentation is used? I see that it was defined in the AppIntentsSampleApp for the GetTrailInfo Intent but didn't find where it was used

Can I ask user to share his/her email id while doing
We sell magazines through a third party app platform called Pocketmags and our website. The magazines have Print, Digital and Combo options available for purchase. Also, this third party app provides the platform to read the digital version of the magazines. Once a user buys a subscription on the website, he/she receives the email with the login information on PocketMags, where he registers his login details and can start reading his subscription. With us, the customer shares his billing/shipping address along with their email id while they make payment. Now we have our own app where through which we want to sell these magazines and have to integrate In-App purchase for selling these digital subscriptions. How do we send the 3rd party subscription access details on email to the user if they do in app purchase?

Apple Pay Signature Validation Fails
I'm currently integrating Apple Pay with my payment provider, and I'm encountering a signature validation error during the payment flow. Here's the setup: I’ve verified that my Merchant Certificate is valid, and I'm able to initialize the Apple Pay session without any issues. Also this curl works fine The Payment Processing Certificate was created by my PSP. PSP claims that the payment token signature is invalid during the transaction phase, which prevents payment completion. Improving And Scaling App Intent Support
Platform and Version iOS Development Environment: Xcode 16.2.0, macOS 15.3 Run-time Configuration: iOS 18.3, 17.x Description of Problem We have started migrating some of the app’s core functionality over to App Intents. Our first release of App Intent support focused on two settings a user can modify on their Bose products, Audio Modes and Immersive Audio, giving users the ability to modify these settings via Siri and shortcuts. The implementation uses two separate shortcuts for each setting type, with each shortcut supporting a single phrase for Siri each: “Change my Bose mode to ” and “Change my Bose immersive audio to ”. Each shortcut uses their own App Intent, and each App Intent has support for optionally providing both a product and a setting when performing the intent. Failing to provide a device, which happens when the intent is performed via Siri, simply auto selects a currently connected Bose product. Failing to provide a setting, like in cases where a user says “Change my Bose ” without providing a setting will simply have Siri confirm the setting the user wants to change before changing the setting. We are using AppEntity to identify a Bose product for both App Intents. Because the App Intent for the Audio Modes setting has a larger number of supported values (up to 15 maximum), we are also using AppEntity to identify these settings. We are using AppEnum to identify available settings for the Immersive Audio App Intent, as only 3 static values are supported. Our original implementation of App Intent support had quite a few phrases supported for each shortcut. We had explicit support for direct synonyms of the verb “Change” in other phrases, supporting words like “Switch” and “Set”. We also had support for words that are like the word “Change”, but not directly related, like the word “Toggle” for instance. We also had support for phrases with or without the setting in each phrase. However, early on we had a lot of trouble with phrase detection with Siri. Siri had a hard time identifying what shortcut was being requested, as well as not being able to identify what settings the user was providing for the setting parameter of each App Intent. While researching potential fixes for this issue, we found a response to a thread in the Apple forums (https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/759909) that seemed to indicate that Siri phrase recognition was very much an aggregate process. With the total number of phrases supported combined with the available settings for each phrase further compounding the total number of phrases Siri needs to learn to recognize for each shortcut. So, to hopefully improve Siri phrase detection, we added logic to limit the amount of Audio Mode settings supported based on what Audio Modes the user had setup on their Bose products. But, more importantly, we limited the number of explicit phrases supported for each shortcut to just a single phrase. In our testing, not only did this improve phrase recognition, but support for synonyms like “Set” or “Switch” seemed to implicitly still be recognized by Siri. The issues we ran into with Siri phrase detection above has us a bit concerned about scaling App Intent support to other settings and features for our products in the future. Our app supports the ability to modify a large number of settings on their Bose products, with support constantly expanding to new products as they are released. Our roadmap for App Intent support was initially very ambitious, supporting much more than just the two settings mentioned above. But our initial experience with App Intents has us tapering our expectations a little bit as far as how much can be supported in total for App Intents. One thing we also noticed is less than optimal display of default shortcuts in the Shortcuts app. The default shortcuts appeared like so, with shortcuts displayed based on available settings fro each shortcut: However, we could not find a way to indicate to users that one particular section pertained specifically to the Audio Mode setting and the other to the Immersive Audio setting. The only information the user has to make this determination for themselves is the available settings (or shortcuts) for each. This may not be immediately clear to a new customer who might be using one of our products for the first time. This display of default shortcuts in the Shortcuts app has us wondering if our shortcuts implementation is what is intended as far as support for the Shortcuts app is concerned. We did survey default shortcuts displayed by other third-party applications and they mostly dealt with navigation with a single section containing default options clearly indicating where the user can navigate with a shortcut. We couldn’t find an example of an application supporting the ability to change different setting types, with each setting type having their own available values for each. So, to summarize the questions we have concerning App Intent support: What can we do with our App Intents and Shortcuts implementation to guarantee optimal performance with Siri? What is an ideal number of phrases to support for each Shortcut. What limitations should we be placing as far as the total number of available settings for each Shortcut. Are there phrases that might work better than others for what we’re trying to achieve with App Intent support? i.e. Is “Change my Bose mode” or “Change my Bose immersive audio” a good phrase to use for this kind of functionality? Or should we be using different verbs or wording? Assuming optimal support of each Shortcut above. What is a reasonable expectation as far as how many different supported shortcuts we can scale to support at the same time. One issue we ran into early on was Siri confusing one shortcut with the other and triggering the wrong App Intent at times. While this was ultimately resolved, this outcome seems much more likely the greater the number of individual shortcuts supported. Are there any recommendations on how to display these App Intents to customers as far as default shortcuts in the Shortcuts app is concerned? Is what we currently display for default shortcuts in the Shortcuts app what was initially intended for third party support for App Intents? If what we are currently displaying is expected, would it be possible to support the ability to provide additional context to each section of default shortcuts displayed? We would like to indicate to the user that one set of shortcuts pertains to the Audio Modes settings, and the other to Immersive Audio. Something along the lines of a section header like some of the first-party apps use. Are there any recommendations or tips for supporting App Intents, particularly phrases for Siri, in other languages?

Message Filter Extension Not Triggering on iPhone 12 Pro (iOS 16.7) but Works on iPhone 11 (iOS 16.6)
Hi Team, We’re encountering a device-specific issue with our SMS Message Filter extension. The extension works as expected on an iPhone 11 running iOS 16.6, but it does not trigger on an iPhone 12 Pro running iOS 16.7. Key Observations: The extension is implemented using ILMessageFilterExtension and calls messageFilterOffline(appGroupIdentifier:for:) from our shared library. The App Group is properly configured and accessible across the app and extension. The extension is enabled under Settings > Messages > Unknown & Spam. There are no crashes or error logs reported on the affected device. The issue is consistently reproducible — it works on one device but not the other. We’re wondering if this could be a regression or a device-specific behavior change introduced in iOS 16.7. Has anyone encountered similar inconsistencies in Message Filter extensions across different iOS versions or device models? Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. App Store Server Notification Issue
Hello, I am writing this because the behavior of the App Store Server Notification that our server receives is problematic in the Sandbox environment. I have two questions in total. When purchasing a Free Trial subscription, after receiving the SUBSCRIBED / INITAL_BUY Notification, DID_RENEW should be sent when it expires, but DID_FAIL_TO_RENEW/GRACE_PERIOD is sent. The EXPIRE Notification is sent after the subscription expires or DID_CHANGE_RENEWAL_STATUS/AUTO_RENEW_DISABLED is sent, but it does not arrive. The first problem is that I recently heard that automatic payments after a free trial require the user's consent via email. Is this the reason? If so, I am curious about how I can test it in the Sandbox environment. Is the second problem a bug?

Apple Pay Pass Verify same card on Apple Watch App and Wallet Iphone
Hi Guys, I am having an issue verifying a card when it is pending verification in the Apple Watch Wallet App and the iPhone Wallet. When the user verifies the card in the wallets, they are redirected to verification in my APP. However, the problem is that I don't know which application is calling, whether it is the Apple Watch or the iPhone, because the URL sends me the same serialNumber from the PKPASS. It is impossible to know if the user wants to verify and activate the card on the watch or the iPhone. Because I only receive the following information in the URL: myapp://app-url? passTypeldentifier=paymentpass.com.apple&action =verify&serialNumber=***** The serialNumber is the same from the iPhone Wallet and the Watch Wallet. func application(_ app: UIApplication, open url: URL, options: [UIApplication.OpenURLOptionsKey : Any] = [:]) -> Bool { let source = options[.sourceApplication] I try to retrieve the source, but it comes back null. How to Display Multiple Media Contents in the Now Playing Control Center?
Hello everyone, I am currently developing a media playback app and want to achieve the following functionality: Display multiple media contents in the Now Playing control center, instead of just showing the currently playing one. Allow users to select and switch between different contents, such as videos, music, etc., from the control center. However, I have encountered some issues: Although I have integrated the Now Playing control center, it only displays the current media being played. I would like to display multiple selectable media contents (such as a video list, music list, etc.) in the control center, similar to what is done by some media player apps, and allow users to switch between them. I’ve tried the following methods: Using MPNowPlayingInfoCenter to update the current playing media information. Attempting to set MPNowPlayingInfoPropertyPlaybackQueueCount to show multiple items in the queue, but it doesn’t seem to work. Can anyone provide guidance on how to display multiple media contents in the Now Playing control center? Any experienced developers who could share their insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much for your help and feedback!
