Question based on the https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/649172
What is the mechanics of using this entitlement?
What should be done in the UNNotificationServiceExtension in order to prevent the display of a notification for the user?
Just pass an empty UNNotificationContent object to contentHandler or something else?

Hey devs,
I have a really weird issue and at this point I cannot determine is it a Big Sur 11.1 or M1 issue or just some macOS settings issue.
Short description
programatically (from node, electron) I'd like to store x509 cert to keychain. I got the following error message:
SecTrustSettingsSetTrustSettings: The authorization was denied since no user interaction was possible. (1) I could reproduce this issue on: a brand new mac mini with M1 chip and Big Sur 11.1
another brand new mac mini with M1 chip and Big Sur 11.1
a 2018 MacBook pro with Intel chip and Big Sur 11.1
I couldn't reproduce this issue on: 2020 MacBook pro with intel i9 chip and Big Sur 11.1
2020 MacBook pro with intel i9 chip and Big Sur 11.0
How am I trying to store the cert
node test.js
test.js
const { exec } = require('child_process')
exec(
	`osascript -e 'do shell script "security add-trusted-cert -d -r trustRoot -k /Library/Keychains/System.keychain /Users/kotapeter/ssl/testsite.local.crt" with prompt "Test APP wants to store SSL certification to keychain." with administrator privileges'`,
	(error, stdout, stderr) => {
		if (error) {
			console.log(error.stack)
			console.log(`Error code: ${error.code}`)
			console.log(`Signal received: ${error.signal}`)
		}
		console.log(`STDOUT: ${stdout}`)
		console.log(`STDERR: ${stderr}`)
		process.exit(1)
	}
)

What I've already found
If I run the following command from terminal It asks my password first in terminal and after that It asks my password again in OS password prompt.
sudo security add-trusted-cert -d -r trustRoot -k /Library/Keychains/System.keychain /Users/kotapeter/ssl/testsite.local.crt
It looks like I'm getting the above error message because osascript hides the second password asking dialog.
The cert always gets stored in keychain but when I get the error message the cert "Trust" value is not "Always Trust".

I have a macOS app that captures screen images. The first time I run this application, a dialog is shown directing the user to give my app Screen Recording permission. Is there a way I can trigger this dialog earlier and detect whether the permission was granted?
Hi, I'm trying to integrate with Tap to Pay feature under Stripe. For this reason i need to add com.apple.developer.proximity-reader.payment.acceptance entitlement to my Identifier. I can see it under Provisioning Profile -> Enabled Capabilities.
But after downloading this profile in Xcode I don't see this entitlement.
What could be the reason for this discrapency?

I followed the instruction on Preparing your app to be the default browser or email client. I have acquired the permission from Apple. The entitlement is included in the provisioning profile. mailto is specified in URL Schemes.
But I downloaded my app from TestFlight and enter Setting > MyApp, the switch that could enable my app to be the default email app was not there. I have no clue what I did it wrong.
Does anyone know how to configure the app properly?
We were recently approved for the "User Assigned Device Name" for a specific app Identifier. The "Additional Capabilities" tab isn't present on that App ID. I am an admin in the developer portal, and this does not appear for the account holder as well. Any help would be appreciated.
Hello everyone,
I'm encountering an issue while trying to publish an app on TestFlight. The app in question is Home Assistant, which I've compiled from the source. I am able to compile and install the app on my device without any problems. My company's developer account is properly configured, and I have set Xcode to automatically manage the provisioning profile.
The archive is also created successfully, but when I attempt to upload it to Apple Store Connect for testing via TestFlight, I receive the following error:
ERROR: [ContentDelivery.Uploader] Asset validation failed (90525) Missing Entitlement. The bundle 'Home Assistant.app/PlugIns/HomeAssistant-Extensions-PushProvider.appex' is missing entitlement 'com.apple.developer.networking.networkextension'. (ID: ceac6dcc-9c76-412e-8ea7-f2d2845f8013)
I've made several attempts to resolve this issue to no avail. For instance, if I add the missing capability manually, then I am informed that the provisioning profile is incorrect. However, checking the network extension settings on my company's dev account, I see nothing related to push notifications, which are located elsewhere. Thus, I am stuck in a loop where either the provisioning file is correct but the entitlement is missing, or if the entitlement is present, then the provisioning profile is deemed incorrect.

I was granted permissions for family controls distribution for the main target of my app. Do I also need to request permission for the other targets like ShieldConfiguration, ShieldActionExtension, etc.? If no, how can i add the distribution capabilities to those targets?
Is it correct to codesign dylib/framewoks with entitlements? My understanding is that only executables need to have the entitlement and the dylibs loaded in that process will automatically inherit those entitlements.
However, I am seeing a lot of scripts on the internet that are signing dylibs as well with entitlements. For eg -
# sign *.dylibs
find "$APP_BUNDLE" -type f -name "*.dylib" -exec codesign --deep --force --verify --verbose --timestamp --options runtime --entitlements "$ENTITLEMENTS_FILE" --sign "$SIGNING_IDENTITY" {} \;
Is this even allowed? I know of at least one app that has passed notarization checks as well. If allowed, can a dylib have more entitlements than the process that loaded it?
I'm working on a system extension leveraging endpoint security entitlement. However, while in development, is there a way to continue working and testing locally without having the endpoint security entitlement approved or needing the extension signed.
I got these errors running a build:
Provisioning profile "Mac Team Provisioning Profile: "com.xxxxx.extension" doesn't include the com.apple.developer.endpoint-security.client entitlement.
I want to use the com.apple.vm.networking entitlement which has a note:
This entitlement is restricted to developers of virtualization software. To request this entitlement, contact your Apple representative.
https://developer.apple.com/support/technical/ says:
« Request entitlements using entitlement forms and ask for status updates in the resulting email thread. » but I haven't been able to find these "entitlement forms". Does anyone know what the right process is to request an entitlement?
A few weeks ago I requested the subject entitlement. I'm still waiting for it to be added to our account. Who or how can I find out what going on with it. I have no correspondence from Apple yet saying it was denied and why.

Thank you.
hi
I am using fastlane and match to upload an app to test flight. The app requires com.apple.developer.storekit.external-link.account to be activated.
My identifier has activated the capabilities and when I look at provisional profile, it also has it, but when the app has been uploaded, it's missing (although all other entitlements are there).
Now it gets weird:
Every time I run my flow I delete derived data, deletes all downloaded provisional profiles and use match to redownload them with read only (force is not an option).
It does not work. I go to Apple dev and Toggles the capability off and on and saves. This invalidates the profile. I press edit and save. So no real changes. Run my flow and the app is uploaded correctly WITH the correct capabilities. Runs the flow again without the manual steps and the entitlements will be missing once again.
Repeats the toggle stuff and the subsequent behavior repeats itself. Same flow and same code and same settings, app and profile....
I am building automated flows so this does not really work for me....
Heeeelp...
I've got a Flutter app that is a “reader” app. The External Link Account Entitlement has already been requested and granted. It is already added as an Additional Capability to the App ID. The com.apple.developer.storekit.external-link.account entitlement is already present in the .entitlements file. Also SKExternalLinkAccount key is added to the Info.plist file with the correct URL.
ExternalLinkAccount.open() is invoked via a MethodChannel call handler and things work perfectly in debug mode. The modal appears as expected and opens the link in the external browser.
Xcode archive is also sucessful and the entitlement seems to be in place when inspecting the app with:
codesign -d --entitlements :- ./path/to/app
But when trying to distribute the app via Xcode the entitlement disappears. Other entitlements are not affected by this issue, eg.: com.apple.developer.associated-domains for universal links. This happens with automatically managed singing and a manually selected provisioning profile as well. When inspecting the latter in Xcode the necessary capability and entitlement is included. But when distributing to App Store Connect the entitlement disappears with both recommended and custom settings.
I ran flutter clean mulitple times. What am I missing here?
I'm trying to add keychain-access-groups capability to my app for MacOs devices and I'm getting an error while signing the code.
If I add this capability to an app for iOS devices, this does not happen and it works correctly. Are there any limitations to using this capability on MacOS devices?
My entitlement file is the following:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">

I am working on a MacOS application in which I need System Extension along with some network extension capabilities. In order to distribute the app externally, I have to create a Developer ID application (provisioning profile) using the App ID that already has Network extension capability. I have followed this documentation to create the App ID and provisioning profiles:
https://developer.apple.com/documentation/bundleresources/entitlements/com.apple.developer.networking.networkextension?language=objc
What I have:
2 App IDs (For app with network and system extension capability and for extension with only network extension capability)
*2 Developer ID application (For both App and Extension)
My App's entitlement file contains:
<key>com.apple.developer.networking.networkextension</key>
<array>
<string>app-proxy-provider</string>
<string>packet-tunnel-provider</string>
</array>
My system extension's entitlement file contains:
<key>com.apple.developer.networking.networkextension</key>
<array>
<string>packet-tunnel-provider</string>
<string>app-proxy-provider</string>
<string>content-filter-provider</string>
<string>dns-proxy</string>
</array>
Both the targets now have the following error:
Provisioning profile "StandaloneCSAExtension" doesn't match the entitlements file's value for the com.apple.developer.networking.networkextension entitlement.
Note: Instead of Developer ID application if I create a normal development provisioning profile with the same App ID, everything works perfectly fine, the only reason why we need to move to Developer ID application is because we need to distribute the app externally.
Please help me if I have missed anything. Thanks in advance!

Hello! I'm suddenly having some difficulty debugging a Flutter-based app. When I run an app from VS Code, it launches Xcode and builds & installs the app on an iPhone running 18.1. However, once the app is installed on the phone, it disappears and in Xcode, a dialog appears with:
Failed to install embedded profile for : 0xe800801f (Attempted to install a Beta profile without the proper entitlement.)
However, when I look at the provisioning profile being used, it seems to have the correct entitlement:
I've also tried enabling automatic signing (instead of the current manual signing using match), as well as generating an adhoc profile and re-adding the device UDID in developers.apple.com. None of these have worked.
This issue appeared within the past day or so and was working fine yesterday with no code changes, so I've been stumped. All my certs are relatively new and were issued within the past few months. I've tried regenerating the provisioning profiles using match, but this gives the same thing.
What's odd is that I can run the build and upload to testflight, then download and install the app just fine through there. But this obviously makes debugging an issue.
I keep getting this error when trying to install Audio app extension.
Everything is reviewed from certificates to profiles, for some reason
CreatingCustomAudioEffects sample is deployed correctly but when Creating new Project (Audio Extension App) from new project Option, it doesn't work at all.
If I remove Extension from Frameworks and deploy app, then no problem but then App crashes as extension is missing. Something wrong with Xcode? I am pretty sure it used to build new projects but not anymore.
Failed to verify code signature of /var/installd/Library/Caches/com.apple.mobile.installd.staging/temp.0k1RXy/extracted/AudioUnitsAppExtensionTest.app : 0xe8008015 (A valid provisioning profile for this executable was not found.)
Please ensure sure that your app is signed by a valid provisioning profile.
If this issue persists, please attach the following when sending a report to Apple:

A sysdiagnose from the device failing installation

Hi,
We have an app that is a default mail client, so it has this entry in its entitlements file: com.apple.developer.mail-client. This seems to create issues with ad-hoc distribution.
We can distribute the app on App Store Connect without any issues and have been doing so for a while.
We wanted to try using Xcode Cloud to manage our releases. The app export works fine for both App Store Distribution and Development Distribution.
However, the ad-hoc distribution step fails. (We don't need ad-hoc distribution, but Xcode Cloud seems to prevent us from removing this step.)
I tried building and releasing the app locally for ad-hoc distribution and encountered the same error as on Xcode Cloud.
When Xcode tries to generate the profile, it outputs the following error:
Provisioning profile "iOS Team Ad Hoc Provisioning Profile: com.infomaniak.mail" failed qualification checks:
Profile doesn't support Default Mail App.
Profile doesn't include the com.apple.developer.mail-client entitlement.
Is it something broken with our config ? What are we missing ?

I don't know why this is happening. I have app sandbox enabled in both the app and the extension target. I have both entitlement files. When executing codesign -d --entitlements :- /path/to/binary I get the following:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "https://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"><plist version="1.0"><dict><key>com.apple.security.app-sandbox</key><true/><key>com.apple.security.files.user-selected.read-only</key><true/><key>com.apple.security.get-task-allow</key><true/><key>com.apple.security.network.client</key><true/></dict></plist>
If I check on Activity Monitor, on the sandbox column it shows true. I have no idea why I keep getting this error when all indicates that the app is actually sandboxed.
