In Xcode's build phases section is it possible to enable/disable compile flags bases on scheme
If an Xcode project has some compiler flags set in Build Phases / Compile Sources, then is it possible to have those enabled if scheme A is selected and disabled if scheme B is selected. Same question for things in Build Settings, such as Other Compiler Flags. I suppose it could be achieved by having two targets, one with things enabled and one without, but for a very large complex project, duplicating targets is not necessarily an easy thing to do.

Application crashes referencing callAsyncJavaScript
When referencing WebKit’s function callAsyncJavaScript, any iOS app crashes immediately on startup when running in simulator. On device, it does not crash. The error message is: dyld[9892]: Symbol not found: _$sSo9WKWebViewC6WebKitE19callAsyncJavaScript_9arguments2inAF17completionHandlerySS_SDySSypGSo11WKFrameInfoCSgSo14WKContentWorldCys6ResultOyyps5Error_pGcSgtF Furthermore, this only happens for some simulators. With Xcode 16.3, it’s simulators 18.0 and prior. With Xcode 16.4 RC1 it includes simulators iOS 18.5 and 18.4 but works correctly on earlier versions of simulator. The reproduction path is easy. Example file attached. This used to work about 3 weeks or a month ago, which is perplexing. As a workaround I replaced the function with evaluateJavaScript which does not crash, but that is not the desired method to use for us. The attached file can reproduce it easily - just refernece this view from the default ContentView in a new project. TestWebView.swift

New linker in Command Line Tools 16 not working with BLOCK DATA
We've encountered a critical issue with the new linker of CLT16 (version 16.1.0.0.1.1729049160) that prevents proper initialization of BLOCK DATA. BLOCK DATA are used to initialize global variables in our Fortran code, and its failure to initialize those variables leads to a program crash. This affects our community of more that thousand scientists worldwide. The current workaround is using the -ld_classic linker option. However, this option is deprecated and will be removed in a future release, as described in the Xcode release note. I've attached a minimal example that reproduces the problem using GNU gfortran with the following instructions (the attached main.f.txt and bd.f.txt need to be rename to main.f and bd.f, respectively): gfortran -c bd.f gfortran -c main.f ar rv libtest.a bd.o main.o gfortran -ld_classic -o good.x -L. libtest.a gfortran -o bad.x -L. libtest.a Running the two programs, one can see that the BLOCK DATA are not initialised without the option ld_classic, $ > ./good.x 3.7273802569289098 2.8083922366048202 $ > ./bad.x 0.0000000000000000 0.0000000000000000 We kindly request your attention to this matter and a prompt solution or alternative workaround. Xcode Simulator Can't Boot
I am facing a recurring issue with Xcode iOS simulator. I want to preview a SwiftUI for iOS in Xcode, but the Simulator app fails to boot up. I receive the follow error in Xcode: Cannot Preview in this file. Simulator was shutdown during an update. I have tried the following: Deleting Xcode cache Reinstalling iOS Simulator runtimes Completely uninstalling Xcode and deleting all developer data, then reinstalling None of the above steps fix the problem. The only fix I have found is to completely reinstall MacOS 15.4.1. THIS IS TERRIBLE! I have already reinstalled MacOS 15.4.1 once to fix the issue, and I don't want to do it again. If there is another solution, please help me find it! Thank you!!

[S:1] Error received: Connection invalidated on empty project
Hello everyone, I'm encountering a persistent issue with my newly created widget project, even though it’s a clean, minimal setup. Every time I try to run the widget on the simulator or a device, I get the following error message: [S:1] Error received: Connection invalidated. I get this error even in a new project (I just created a new one) when I add a widget extension to it. The app itself works fine—no errors—but when I try to install the widget extension, it always shows me this error. Initially, I thought the issue was caused by an incorrect URLSession, but even after creating a clean (default) widget extension, the issue persists. I don’t know what to think anymore. Has anyone encountered this before? It’s completely blocking my progress. Conditions - new project from iOS App template WidgetExtension from template with no changes Iphone 14 pro IOS - 18.3.2

Testing/debugging QLThumbnailProvider on macOS
I'm implementing the 'new' QLThumbnailProvider for our macOS app... So I just created the skeleton from Xcode, added our QLSupportedContentTypes in Info.plist, and have the skeleton code like below: import QuickLookThumbnailing class ThumbnailProvider: QLThumbnailProvider { override func provideThumbnail(for request: QLFileThumbnailRequest, _ handler: @escaping (QLThumbnailReply?, Error?) -> Void) { // cannot trigger break point here! } I understand I should test the Thumbnail Extension by using: $ qlmanage -t my_file.ext Testing Quick Look thumbnails with files: my_file.ext But I don't know what process to attach to in the Xcode debugger... a bit clueless... I've skimmed relevant parts of https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2019/719, but there is no real debug tips... Does anyone know if it is possible to debug with Xcode or not? And if possible, then how? 😅

XCode does not recognize my iPhone
I'm trying to run my app on my iPhone and XCode is unable to detect it. Versions (as of time of writing, these are all the latest versions) XCode: 15.0.1 iOS: 17.1.2 macOS: Sonoma 14.1.2 What I've tried Updating all hardware to the latest versions. Restarting all hardware. Clearing cache/derived data. Using different USBC ports/cables. Using the XCode 15.1-Beta 3 (the latest beta) Clearing trusted computers and re-trusting Disabling Multipath Networking (solution for someone else on the dev forums) Creating a brand new xcode project. Disabling all wifi/bluetooth and reconnecting Using different wifi networks Calling mac support (they directed me back here) Scouring forums What happens I start by disconnecting my phone from my computer, clear trusted computers, restart xcode, and start (basically) from a completely blank slate. First I open XCode to my project. Then I connect my iPhone via USBC. I see that XCode says "iPhone not eligible while pairing in progress" (or something like that). I see on my phone that I must trust this computer, I hit trust, I enter my phone's passcode, then that disappears on my phone, and in XCode the message about eligibility disappears. I then click on the device selector to choose between either a simulator or a hardware device and under hardware I only see a message that says "No eligible devices connected to my mac". If I open the "Manage Run Destinations" organizer I see all the simulators there in the simulators tab, but when I go to the Devices tab, I see nothing. Sometimes when I go through this process, I can get a banner to appear up top, but still no device shows up on the left. The banner will show me that it is indeed my iPhone, but it will be missing information like "Serial Number" or "Capacity". Here's a screenshot of what I see. Keep in mind, this banner up top does not always show up when I go through this process. iPhone CAN be detected on my other laptop When I do this exact same thing on my other laptop, everything works just fine. Here are the specs I'm running on that laptop. (using the same cable/wifi network/etc) XCode 15.0.1 macOS: Ventura 13.6.1 iPhone 17.1.2 (I'm using the same iPhone) The only difference here being the macOS version. However, the problem started on my "broken" computer while I was running a previous major macOS version. This problem is actually what prompted my to do a system update to Sonoma. Please for the love of god, halp!!!

build script failed
I am trying to use build script to build a product. The following is something I put in the script. XCODEBUILD="/usr/bin/xcodebuild" XCODE_VERSION=$((${XCODEBUILD} -version 2>/dev/null || echo 'V -1') | head -n 1 | awk '{ print $2 }') But I got the error from the above line. I double checked and make sure that I installed the Xcode command line tool on my Mac laptop. Any advice for this issue? Thanks.

Team membership not appearing in Xcode
I have a major problem with team membership and Xcode. I work in a company, where my apple account was added to the development team with app manager role. I can see that on the apple portal, everything seems fine there. I have been also provided with the provisioning profile for the project and signing certificate of the company. However, when I log into Xcode the team does not show up anywhere. I am able to build the app, but cannot distribute to TestFlight (or anywhere else). When I use manual signing to choose the signing certificate it shows the "unknown team" message next to it. When I check my account in xcode it also only shows my personal team and does not allow to pick any other one (doesn't show any other one). When I click the "+" button on my xcode account to add a certificate an error pops up: "You already have active certificate or a pending request". I do have a pending request to enroll into apple developers program, but everyone says you don't need one if you are added to the team, you can just operate as a team member. Finally, when trying to upload to TestFlight, the following error is displayed: "No team for account ***" I have tried deleting and re-adding all the certificates. I have tried logging in and out of Xcode, I have tried deleting and re-adding my account in Xcode. I have tried reloading everything. My account was deleted and re-added to developers team. Nothing worked. I don't know the source of the issue, nor does my employer. I am new to ios development and this is my first project. Please help!

NO_CRASH_STACK with different number of crashes from the App Store.
Hello. For the last few months I have been facing a situation for which I do not understand either the reason or the solution. Here is an example for the last few weeks: In App Store Connect it shows 214 crashes for the last week In Xcode it shows 56 crashes for the last 2 weeks without stack traces (NO_CRASH_STACK) In Firebase Crashlytics there is not a single crash. When I click "Show in Finder" it opens a folder with .xccrashpoint files. As far as I understood from the instructions on posting crash reports - this is not what is needed. Interesting point: it looks like the errors occur on iOS 15-16 devices. I have several questions: Why is the number of crashes in Xcode different from the number in App Store Connect? Where are the other crashes? How can I understand what the problem is if there are no stack traces in Xcode?

Privacy - Siri Usage Description being reset to default text "Describe why your app needs Siri access" on generating archive
I have an iOS app and that has CarPlay enabled. I have Siri capability and the feature has been tested in Car. The voice commands are working perfectly fine. However, I am facing a weird issue as described below, The key NSSiriUsageDescription, is set to custom text in info.plist. After generating archive, I exported and checked the package contents, in which the the key NSSiriUsageDescription was reset to default text(Describe why your app needs Siri access) in the info.plist. I do not have any dynamic build process that's writing to the info.plist. Only the Siri key is being reset, rest of keys like camera/location permissions are intact. Kindly suggest what needs to be done at my end

How to uncheck "Connect via network" on physical device in Xcode 15
It looks like the other thread got locked. I would still like to be able to uncheck the box for "Connect via network" so I can develop with my iOS 17+ devices normally with Xcode 15. Or a method to use Xcode 14 with iOS 17+ without CoreDevice or whatever the problematic API is.

Cannot evaluate variables in xCode 16.2 debugger
When I try to look at any variable in the debugger, I get a bunch of errors complaining about inability to find a file in a location that should not exist on my machine... I just upgraded form xCode 15.2, which worked fine, but now I basically cannot debug. Who is this liangchenying? build script failed

Xcode Cloud Dependency Resolution - out-of-date resolved file
When I try to build my iOS app using Xcode Cloud, it encounters an error when trying to resolve packages: an out-of-date resolved file was detected at [path to package.resolved], which is not allowed when automatic dependency resolution is disabled; please make sure to update the file to reflect the changes in dependencies Looking at my package.resolved file, it all seems to be in order. What can I do to fix it?
