Confused about App Intents integration in iOS27
I just watched the "Build Intelligent Siri experiences with App Schemas" and I'm confused about how to integrate my app with the new Apple Intelligence + Siri in iOS27. I think it mentions specifically that Siri needs to adopt App Schemas, and that just adopting App Intents in my app isn't enough for it to integrate with the new Siri. Is that correct? The 'schemas' seem to be a narrow set of specific activities. What if my app's actions (or intents) don't match closely with it? For example, in my app, I have entities like Tags and Contacts. I can 'create tag' as well as 'add tags to a contact' as 2 different App intents. If I'm using just App Intents on their own, would these not map to the new Siri? I can also add a 'task' to a 'contact'. Would that possibly work with Siri? The videos just don't seem to make an effort to explain what is and what isn't possible.

Documentation on APNS Live Activity Broadcast API throttle limit
Hi Team We are building a live activity feature for our app. While using the APNS broadcast API (https://api.push.apple.com:443/4/broadcasts/apps/), we are getting throttled. The updates are infrequent (sport games) and yet we are facing this issue. Our understanding was that the throughput is quite high but there is no documentation on the actual limitations. Furthermore, all of our updates are using a priority of 5. We have currently configured retry with exponential backoff and jitter but we would like to understand the APNS throttle limit for live activity broadcast. Is the limit per channel id or at API level? What is the hard limit for the API request per seconds? Can we request increase to the API rate limit?

StoreKit purchase cancelled after app backgrounding during bank authentication (3D Secure)
Hello, We are experiencing an issue with StoreKit purchases on iOS. Some users are required by their bank to complete an additional authentication step (3D Secure / banking app validation) during an in-app purchase subscription flow. The purchase starts correctly and StoreKit displays the purchase sheet. When the user temporarily leaves the app to validate the payment in their banking application and then returns, StoreKit eventually reports the purchase as cancelled. No transaction is delivered to StoreKit observers, no entitlement becomes active, and restoring purchases does not find any completed transaction. Steps to reproduce: Open the app. Start an auto-renewable subscription purchase using StoreKit. Authenticate with Apple ID if requested. When the bank authentication screen appears, leave the app and open the banking application. Approve the payment in the banking application. Return to the original app. Observed result: StoreKit reports the purchase as cancelled and no transaction is received. Expected result: The transaction should continue processing after bank authentication and eventually complete successfully. Environment: Xcode 26.3 (17C529) macOS Tahoe 26.3 iOS 26.2.1 Physical iPhone device Question: Is this expected StoreKit behavior when a user leaves the app for external banking authentication, or is there a recommended StoreKit integration pattern that should allow the purchase flow to continue successfully? Thank you.

Xcode's Vim Mode - further development?
It was fantastic news to hear, last year, that Xcode was getting a Vim mode. Apple's implementation of it was a great first step, but it was missing a bunch of key features. Most importantly the dot command (and by, extension, macros) and creating marks in files, which are functions that I use/rely on on a daily basis. I thought I would finally be able to stop having to self-sign Xcode (which causes problems) in order to use XVim2 plugin, but no such luck. Will these features get added in for Xcode 14 (they don't seem to be in the beta) or are they far out on the roadmap?

RCS failing on iOS 18 when VPN active
When a VPN is active, RCS messaging does not work on iOS 18. I work on an iOS VPN app, and we were very appreciative of the excludeCellularServices network flag that was released during the iOS 16 cycle. It's a great solution to ensure the VPN doesn't interfere with cellular network features from the cellular provider. Separately - As a user, I'm excited that iOS 18 includes RCS messaging. Unfortunately, RCS messaging is not working when our VPN is active (when checking on the iOS 18 release candidate). My guess is that RCS is not excluded from the VPN tunnel, even when excludeCellularServices is true. It seems like RCS should be added in this situation, as it is a cell provider service. Can RCS be added as a service that is excluded from the VPN tunnel when excludeCellularServices is true? (I've also sent this via feedback assistant, as 15094270.)

NSFileSandboxingRequestRelatedItemExtension: Failed to issue extension
Hi there, I have an SwiftUI app that opens a user selected audio file (wave). For each audio file an additional file exists containing events that were extracted from the audio file. This additional file has the same filename and uses the extension bcCalls. I load the audio file using FileImporter view modifier and within access the audio file with a security scoped bookmark. That works well. After loading the audio I create a CallsSidecar NSFilePresenter with the url of the audio file. I make the presenter known to the NSFileCoordinator and upon this add it to the FileCoordinator. This fails with NSFileSandboxingRequestRelatedItemExtension: Failed to issue extension for; Error Domain=NSPOSIXErrorDomain Code=3 "No such process" My Info.plist contains an entry for the document with NSIsRelatedItemType set to YES I am using this kind of FilePresenter code in various live apps developed some years ago. Now when starting from scratch on a fresh macOS26 system with most current Xcode I do not manage to get it running. Any ideas welcome! Here is the code: struct ContentView: View { @State private var sonaImg: CGImage? @State private var calls: Array<CallMeasurements> = Array() @State private var soundContainer: BatSoundContainer? @State private var importPresented: Bool = false var body: some View { VStack { Image(systemName: "globe") .imageScale(.large) .foregroundStyle(.tint) Text("Hello, world!") if self.sonaImg != nil { Image(self.sonaImg!, scale: 1.0, orientation: .left, label: Text("Sonagram")) } if !(self.calls.isEmpty) { List(calls) {aCall in Text("\(aCall.callNumber)") } } Button("Load sound file") { importPresented.toggle() } } .fileImporter(isPresented: $importPresented, allowedContentTypes: [.audio, UTType(filenameExtension: "raw")!], onCompletion: { result in switch result { case .success(let url): let gotAccess = url.startAccessingSecurityScopedResource() if !gotAccess { return } if let soundContainer = try? BatSoundContainer(with: url) { self.soundContainer = soundContainer self.sonaImg = soundContainer.overviewSonagram(expectedWidth: 800) let callsSidecar = CallsSidecar(withSoundURL: url) let data = callsSidecar.readData() print(data) } url.stopAccessingSecurityScopedResource() case .failure(let error): // handle error print(error) } }) .padding() } } The file presenter according to the WWDC 19 example: class CallsSidecar: NSObject, NSFilePresenter { lazy var presentedItemOperationQueue = OperationQueue.main var primaryPresentedItemURL: URL? var presentedItemURL: URL? init(withSoundURL audioURL: URL) { primaryPresentedItemURL = audioURL presentedItemURL = audioURL.deletingPathExtension().appendingPathExtension("bcCalls") } func readData() -> Data? { var data: Data? var error: NSError? NSFileCoordinator.addFilePresenter(self) let coordinator = NSFileCoordinator.init(filePresenter: self) NSFileCoordinator.addFilePresenter(self) coordinator.coordinate(readingItemAt: presentedItemURL!, options: [], error: &error) { url in data = try! Data.init(contentsOf: url) } return data } } And from Info.plist <key>CFBundleDocumentTypes</key> <array> <dict> <key>CFBundleTypeExtensions</key> <array> <string>bcCalls</string> </array> <key>CFBundleTypeName</key> <string>bcCalls document</string> <key>CFBundleTypeRole</key> <string>None</string> <key>LSHandlerRank</key> <string>Alternate</string> <key>LSItemContentTypes</key> <array> <string>com.apple.property-list</string> </array> <key>LSTypeIsPackage</key> <false/> <key>NSIsRelatedItemType</key> <true/> </dict> <dict> <key>CFBundleTypeExtensions</key> <array> <string>wav</string> <string>wave</string> </array> <key>CFBundleTypeName</key> <string>Windows wave</string> <key>CFBundleTypeRole</key> <string>Editor</string> <key>LSHandlerRank</key> <string>Alternate</string> <key>LSItemContentTypes</key> <array> <string>com.microsoft.waveform-audio</string> </array> <key>LSTypeIsPackage</key> <integer>0</integer> <key>NSDocumentClass</key> <string></string> </dict> </array> Note that BatSoundContainer is a custom class for loading audio of various undocumented formats as well as wave, Flac etc. and this is working well displaying a sonogram of the audio. Thx, Volker

Summary of iOS/iPadOS 26 UIKit bugs related to UISearchController & UISearchBar using scope buttons
All of these issues appear when the search controller is set on the view controller's navigationItem and the search controller's searchBar has its scopeButtonTitles set. So far the following issues are affecting my app on iOS/iPadOS 26 as of beta 7: When the scopeBarActivation of UISearchController is set to .onSearchActivation, the preferredSearchBarPlacement of the navigationItem is set to .integratedButton, and the searchBarPlacementAllowsToolbarIntegration is set to false (forcing the search icon to appear in the nav bar), on both iPhones and iPads, the scope buttons never appear. They don't appear when the search is activated. They don't appear when any text is entered into the search bar. FB19771313 I attempted to work around that issue by setting the scopeBarActivation to .manual. I then show the scope bar in the didPresentSearchController delegate method and hide the scope bar in the willDismissSearchController. On an iPhone this works though the display is a bit clunky. On an iPad, the scope bar does appear via the code in didPresentSearchController, but when any scope bar button is tapped, the search controller is dismissed. This happens when the app is horizontally regular. When the app on the iPad is horizontally compact, the buttons work but the search bar's text is not correctly aligned within the search bar. Quite the mess really. I still need to post a bug report for this issue. But if issue 1 above is fixed then I don't need this workaround. When the scopeBarActivation of UISearchController is set to .onSearchActivation, the preferredSearchBarPlacement of the navigationItem is set to .stacked, and the hidesSearchBarWhenScrolling property of the navigationItem is set to false (always show the search bar), and this is all used in a UITableViewController, then upon initial display of the view controller on an iPhone or iPad, you are unable to tap on the first row of the table view except on the very bottom of the row. The currently hidden scope bar is stealing the touches. If you activate and then cancel the search (making the scope bar appear and then disappear) then you are able to tap on the first row as expected. The initially hidden scope bar also bleeds through the first row of the table. It's faint but you can tell it's not quite right. Again, this is resolved by activating and then canceling the search once. FB17888632 When the scopeBarActivation of UISearchController is set to .onSearchActivation, the preferredSearchBarPlacement of the navigationItem is set to integrated or .integratedButton, and the toolbar is shown, then on iPhones (where the search bar/icon appears in the toolbar) the scope buttons appear (at the top of the screen) the first time the search is activated. But if you cancel the search and then activate it again, the search bar never appears a second (or later) time. On an iPad the search bar/icon appears in the nav bar and you end up with the same issue as #1 above. FB17890125 Issues 3 and 4 were reported against beta 1 and still haven't been fixed. But if issue 1 is resolved on iPhone, iPad, and Mac (via Mac Catalyst), then I personally won't be affected by issues 2, 3, or 4 any more (but of course all 4 issues need to be fixed). And by resolved, I mean that the scope bar appears and disappears when it is supposed to each and every time the search is activated and cancelled (not just the first time). The scope bar doesn't interfere with touch events upon initial display of the view controller. And there are no visual glitches no matter what the horizontal size class is on an iPad. I really hope the UIKit team can get these resolved before iOS/iPadOS 26 GM.

Notary service: submissions stuck "In Progress" for days, never completing
I'm hitting what looks like a service-side notarization problem and could use a pointer on how to get it escalated. Over the past 3 days I've submitted 9 times with notarytool. Only 2 came back Accepted. The other 7 are stuck at "In Progress" and never reach a terminal state, no Accepted, no Invalid, no log (notarytool log says it isn't available yet), and no email. The oldest has been sitting ~71 hours. Signing checks out: codesign --verify --deep --strict passes and satisfies the Designated Requirement, hardened runtime with a secure timestamp, no get-task-allow, signed with my Developer ID, and the DMGs are signed before submission. The 2 submissions that completed were Accepted, so credentials and signing are fine. It really looks like the service just isn't processing most of my submissions. This is a newly enrolled account, and I've filed FB22939442 and have an open Developer Support case. Is this a known issue for new accounts, and is there a way to get these submissions looked at? Environment: macOS 26.2, Xcode 26.5, notarytool 1.1.2 (41).

Keyboard Toolbar Padding iOS26
When I create a SwiftUI toolbar item with placement of .keyboard on iOS 26, the item appears directly on top of and in contact with the keyboard. This does not look good visually nor does it match the behavior seen in Apple's apps, such as Reminders. Adding padding to the contents of the toolbar item only expands the size of the item but does not separate the capsule background of the item from the keyboard. How can I add vertical padding or spacing to separate the toolbar item capsule from the keyboard?

TestFlight Beta Contract Missing – ENTITY_UNPROCESSABLE.BETA_CONTRACT_MISSING
Hello, I am unable to use TestFlight for any app (existing or new), while production uploads work normally. All TestFlight actions fail with: ENTITY_UNPROCESSABLE.BETA_CONTRACT_MISSING There are no pending agreements in App Store Connect. This is an older account that previously used TestFlight successfully. This appears to be a missing or detached TestFlight Beta contract on Apple’s backend. Could this be manually reattached or re-provisioned? This is time-sensitive, as I need a TestFlight external testers link to submit an app for an upcoming hackathon. Apple Support case ID (for reference): 102817552619 Thank you.

unifiedContacts identifier vs contactRelations identifier
The documentation specifies that when Contacts framework returns unified contacts that each fetched unified contact object (CNContact) has its own unique identifier that’s different from any individual contact’s identifier in the set of linked contacts and that when refetching a unified contact, that this identifier should be used. There is also an analogous identifier within the list of contactRelations, but each of these don't seem to corespondent to the unified contacts. For example, is a new contact (Sheryl Zakroff) is created in the simulator Contacts and their spouse is set to Hank Zakroff. However, the GUID created for the contactRelations identifier does not correlate to the original Hank Zakroff GUID and cannot be searched. Is this a bug or what is the indent of the contactRelations identifier?

Thx, Volker

Siri waitlist
I downloaded the beta iOS 27 and I’m still on the waitlist, as are a whole bunch of other people. Is there like a bug of people not getting past the new Siri waitlist?

Notarization submissions stuck "In Progress"
These have been stuck in progress for a long time. Usually this process is fairly quick for this app: id: 92caae7f-1796-4928-bb35-72f5f2667786 id: 3645e93f-a8ac-4826-8a4a-690f980dde8e id: 3645e93f-a8ac-4826-8a4a-690f980dde8e What can be done, it is holding back deployments :(

unifiedContacts identifier vs contactRelations identifier
Here's a debug output of walking the unifiedContacts: Name: Hank Zakroff 2E73EE73-C03F-4D5F-B1E8-44E85A70F170 - Other : (555) 766-4823 - Other : (707) 555-1854 Name: David Taylor E94CD15C-7964-4A9B-8AC4-10D7CFB791FD - Other : 555-610-6679 Name: Sheryl Zakroff DE783BC8-7917-4138-93F6-3AF0FD4CE083 - Other : (707) 555-1854 - Spouse: <CNContactRelation: 0x60000000dd60: name=Hank M.
