iOS 26 beta 8 – AlarmKit – Custom sounds in Library/Sounds do not play
I put a test.mp3 (30 sec) file into the App Bundle. I scheduled an AlarmKit alarm with the file name test.mp3. The custom sound plays ✅ I copied the file from the App Bundle to Library/Sounds/test2.mp3. I scheduled an AlarmKit alarm with the file name test2.mp3. Instead of playing the custom sound, it falls back to the default sound ❌ According to the documentation, sounds placed in Library/Sounds should be playable: I filed report FB19779004 on August 20, but haven’t received any response yet. This functionality is critical for our use case, so could you please let me know whether this is expected to be fixed soon, or if I’m misunderstanding the intended behavior?

AppIntent, StartWorkoutIntent, and Siri
I'm a bit confused as to what we're supposed to be doing to support starting a workout using Siri in iOS/watchOS 26. On one hand, I see a big push to move towards App Intents and shortcuts rather than SiriKit. On the other hand, I see that some of the things I would expect to work with App Intents well... don't work. BUT - I'm also not sure it isn't just developer error on my part. Here are some assertions that I'm hoping someone more skilled and knowledgable can correct me on: Currently the StartWorkoutIntent only serves the Action button on the Watch Ultra. It cannot be used to register Shortcuts, nor does Siri respond to it. I can use objects inherited from AppIntent to create shortcuts, but this requires an additional permission to run a shortcut if a user starts a workout with Siri. AppIntent shortcuts requires the user to say "Start a workout in " - if the user leaves out the "in " part, Siri will not prompt the user to select my app. If I want to allow the user to simply say "Start a Workout" and have Siri prompt the user for input as to which app it should use, I must currently use the older SiriKit to do so. Are these assertions correct - or am I just implementing something incorrectly? Using the latest Xcode 26 beta for what it is worth.

Bluetooth Low Energy stability
Hello everyone, I’m developing an app that connects to Bluetooth Low Energy devices. While the stability of my connection is generally good, I’m looking to improve it. I noticed that the app from VanMoof, a company that makes ebikes, has an really strong connection. It even manages to connect to devices even when the app is forcefully closed. Could you please advise me on how I can improve the stability of my Bluetooth Low Energy connection and ensure that it continues to work even when the app is forcefully closed? Thanks in advance for your help!

Server-to-server notification received 2 days after subscription
One of our customers subscribed to a monthly plan on August 16 but the server-to-server notification seems to have been sent on August 18. What could be the reasons for such a delay between the purchase and the server-to-server notification which are usually sent right after the purchase? The receipt sent along with the notification seems to confirm that the receipt has only been created 2 days after the purchase. Universal links stopped working, CDN responds with 404 for our domain
From some moment of time, Universal Links stopped working for our app. As per my understanding, application reinstall or update caused system to fetch AASA file from CDN, which started to reply with 404 for our domain (https://app-site-association.cdn-apple.com/a/v1/app.link.digidentity.eu). In the meantime, nothing has changed inside our app or on our BE (https://app.link.digidentity.eu/.well-known/apple-app-site-association). SwiftData ModelContext.insert crashes, why?
This simple test fails in my project. Similar code in my application also crashes. How do I debug the problem? What project settings are required. I have added SwiftData as a framework to test (and application) targets? Thanks, The problem is with: modelContext.insert(item) Thread 1: EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION (code=EXC_I386_INVOP, subcode=0x0) import XCTest import SwiftData @Model class FakeModel { var name: String init(name: String) { self.name = name } } @MainActor final class FakeModelTests: XCTestCase { var modelContext: ModelContext! override func setUp() { super.setUp() do { let container = try ModelContainer(for: FakeModel.self, configurations: ModelConfiguration(isStoredInMemoryOnly: true)) modelContext = container.mainContext } catch { XCTFail("Failed to create ModelContainer: \(error)") modelContext = nil } } func testSaveFetchDeleteFakeItem() { guard let modelContext = modelContext else { XCTFail("ModelContext must be initialized") return } let item = FakeModel(name: "Test") modelContext.insert(item) let fetchDescriptor = FetchDescriptor<FakeModel>() let items = try! modelContext.fetch(fetchDescriptor) XCTAssertEqual(items.count, 1) XCTAssertEqual(items.first?.name, "Test") modelContext.delete(item) let itemsAfterDelete = try! modelContext.fetch(fetchDescriptor) XCTAssertEqual(itemsAfterDelete.count, 0) } }

FileProviderUI prepare method receives internal fileprovider ID list instead of actual itemIdentifier
In the context of a FPUIActionExtensionViewController module the prepare method is defined like this: override func prepare(forAction actionIdentifier: String, itemIdentifiers: [NSFileProviderItemIdentifier]) { So you would expect the itemIdentifiers list to be the item identifier but instead it is a list of the internal fileprovider IDs like: __fp/fs/docID(6595461) So this is a bit problematic because the only way to recover the ID is by using getUserVisibleURL to get the path which is not great. Is there a better way ? Am I missing something ? Thanks,

SwiftData Inheritance Query Specialized Model
Hi, I am currently experiencing some trouble when using parent model property in a predicate of a child model. I have an Item class that define parent-child relationship: @Model class Item { var timestamp: Date @Relationship(inverse: \Item.children) var parent: Item? var children: [Item] init(parent: Item? = nil, children: [Item] = [], timestamp: Date = .now) { self.parent = parent self.children = children self.timestamp = timestamp } } I subclass this model like that: @available(iOS 26, *) @Model final class CollectionItem: Item { /* ... */ } When i make a Query in my View like that the system crashes: @Query( filter: #Predicate<CollectionItem> { $0.parent == nil }, sort: \CollectionItem.name, ) private var collections: [CollectionItem] CrashReportError: Fatal Error in DataUtilities.swift AppName crashed due to fatalError in DataUtilities.swift at line 85. Couldn't find \CollectionItem.<computed 0x000000034005d4e8 (Optional<Item>)> on CollectionItem with fields [SwiftData.Schema.PropertyMetadata(name: "name", keypath: \CollectionItem.<computed 0x000000034003c120 (String)>, defaultValue: nil, metadata: nil), SwiftData.Schema.PropertyMetadata(name: "icon", keypath: \CollectionItem.<computed 0x000000034003ca04 (Optional<String>)>, defaultValue: nil, metadata: nil), SwiftData.Schema.PropertyMetadata(name: "timestamp", keypath: \Item.<computed 0x0000000340048018 (Date)>, defaultValue: nil, metadata: nil), SwiftData.Schema.PropertyMetadata(name: "parent", keypath: \Item.<computed 0x0000000340048a4c (Optional<Item>)>, defaultValue: nil, metadata: Optional(Relationship - name: , options: [], valueType: Any, destination: , inverseName: nil, inverseKeypath: Optional(\Item.<computed 0x0000000340048fe8 (Array<Item>)>))), SwiftData.Schema.PropertyMetadata(name: "children", keypath: \Item.<computed 0x0000000340048fe8 (Array<Item>)>, defaultValue: nil, metadata: nil)] When I query as Item it works but then i cannot sort on CollectionItem field and must add unnecessary down casting: @Query( filter: #Predicate<Item> { $0.parent == nil && $0 is CollectionItem }, ) private var items: [Item] Am I missing something? Is it a platform limitation or a known issue?

Default dialer abilities & limitations
I've been trying to understand what kind of UX is available if my app is using the default-dialer capability. I have found https://developer.apple.com/documentation/livecommunicationkit/preparing-your-app-to-be-the-default-dialer-app and I am in the EU. On android I built the UX I want and it's quite neat, so now I'm trying to work. out what I can get on iOS. Because the product is kind of worthless with just android. I have built a simple dialer ux with a numberpad, contact lookup etc. Then when the user presses the Call button does it have to pop up the system prompt "Call number"? Does it have to swap over to the system ui for the actual call? So there's no way to show information about the call, during the call? Or am I using the frameworks incorrectly? I am very new to iOS development. TrueCaller and others show validation, but as I understand it they pre-fetch all the data, I can't do that.

Provisioning Profile Missing com.apple.developer.alarmkit Entitlement – No AlarmKit Capability in Developer Portal
Hello everyone, I’m working with AlarmKit (iOS/iPadOS 26) and encountering a critical blocker. On the simulator, after adding NSAlarmKitUsageDescription to Info.plist, AlarmKit functions as expected—no entitlement issues. However, when building to a physical device, Xcode fails with: “Provisioning profile … doesn’t include the com.apple.developer.alarmkit entitlement.” The core issue: there is no AlarmKit capability visible under App ID settings or provisioning profiles in the Developer Portal. Thus, this entitlement cannot be enabled or included in a profile. Steps taken so far: Reviewed WWDC25 AlarmKit session and documentation. Reviewed Apple Developer documentation on entitlements and provisioning. Verified there's no AlarmKit toggle or capability in the Developer Portal (Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles > Identifiers). Submitted multiple Feedback requests via Feedback Assistant, but received no technical resolution. Questions: Is there meant to be a separate AlarmKit entitlement (distinct from Critical Alerts)? If so, when will the com.apple.developer.alarmkit entitlement option be available in the Developer Portal? In the meantime, how can developers test AlarmKit-based features on physical devices? Could an Apple Engineer advise on whether an internal entitlement workflow or workaround exists for testing? Thank you in advance for any clarity anyone can provide. I'm stuck at a total impasse until this is resolved. —John Current Project Configuration Relevant Parts: info.plist: NSAlarmKitUsageDescription Schedules system-level alarms that break through Do Not Disturb and Focus modes to ensure alarms trigger reliably. AppIntents not working in Release
We have some AppIntents we are POCing and when we make a Release build, they no longer appear in the system. These AppIntents live in a Framework compiled and linked with the core app. We believe that this is related to Mergable Libraries. We have confirmed that the meta data for the framework still contains a list of all of the actions and their mangled symbols. The mangled symbols however now live in the app binary (confirmed by building Release with DEBUG_INFORMATION_FORMAT = dwarf) If we move the AppIntent code into the app target, things once again work as expected. Is there a flag we need to set, or is moving the code into the app target the only workaround? Thank you!

ShieldConfiguration: Shield does not update when token is moved from one store to anohter (while in foreground)
Hello, I have noticed that the ShieldConfiguration is only requested when opening a target app, and never when the application token is moved to a different shield while the target app remains in foreground. This causes problems because many times the wrong ShieldConfiguration is displayed (recycled) instead of requesting a new ShieldConfiguration. This bug has been around since the introduction of the Screen Time API in 2020 and is has not been addressed. Bug reports: FB14237883 FB17902392 Please fix asap!! Not acceptable to have bugs not being addressed for more than 5 years. Most concerning: This is still reproducing on iOS 26 beta 7!! Thanks a lot for your help.
